Randy J Shinn

Dr. Shinn is a very caring and knowledgeable geriatrician. He is dedicated to his career and his patients. He is a good listener and treats the whole person- not just prescribing a medication. Dr. Shinn was chosen as the inaugural recipient of the Pat Walker Distinguished Chair in Senior Health at the UAMS Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education in Springdale. An endowed chair is among the highest academic honors a university can bestow on a faculty member. Dr. Randy Shinn has cared for both of my grandmothers and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a quality and skilled geriatrician.

I was blindsided when he told me to seek psychiatrists help. That seemed to stem from my giving him a list of current health issues one of which is reoccurring “Cipro Tendonitis”. I asked him “do you know that is a FDA black box medication and there is a class action suite?” again he reaffirmed I should get a psychiatrists, that the pain was all in my head. He never did a physical exam, my neck & shoulders have a large amount rigidity. My take away is that he prescribes Cipro.
