Dr. Philip Hartwell

I called this office last Wednesday and explained that I was having some reasonably serious health issues, and was hoping to find a primary care physician in Mesquite. I was told by the receptionist that she would take down my information and call me back. It’s now Tuesday the following week and I called back. The girl put me on hold only to come back and say that the doctor is no longer taking new patients and to try back in ‘like a month.’ So apparently she took my symptoms and information down and then threw it in the trash. Then when I called back today she must’ve just asked him and he said, ‘Nah, no new patients.’ I didn’t realize this was was more of a treehouse than a doctor’s office. What a joke.

Dr. Hartwell is a great doctor. He finds the problem prescribes me medicine and gets me feeling better in no time. Every time I have been there he listens to everything me and my mother have to say to him and he he answers any and all the questions we might have. Me and my family have gone to him ever since we moved here. And my family knows him personally as a person, not just our doctor he is sweet and caring and puts up with my craziness from having my disability. I won’t even go to any other doctor. I really like Dr Hartwell and his staff. They have been very friendly and professional. Mistakes have been made on prescriptions but it has been because of bad info I gave (or my poor memory). Its nice to have a local doctor in town.

If I can give a 0 star I would...staff has attitude. Well, I guess I take my medical care all the way to Vegas now. I can't believe that we can't get physicians and their staff to care about people! Dr. Heartwell office the last independent doctor here in Mesquite and their very young staff calls you and says we have your lab results, and you can come in today between 1-3 as a walk-in and once you get there; then you are told: "Sorry we can't take you because we have too many walk-in's and we shall see if the doctor can see you. Sorry, you don't call patients to come down as told and then be told sorry we can't see you! Terrible customer service for lab results, which is a follow-up and not be treated as a walk-in. Then the doctor comes out loud in front of other patients and says; "the results show you are not going to die!" Wow, now that was not nice! When you tell me earlier that I may have something serious! He does not take medicare patients because he does not want them due to that insurance pays slowly, and they may have to be referred to another specialist. Which means he gets a one-shot at them for money. Every time I went in; I hear from him, I need the money for his children to get to college. So it comes down to money and not proper medical care. I was told by other locals about his attention to care, and now I see what they are saying. His staff should advise patients to make follow-ups as appointments and not as being treated as a walk-in when you called us to come IN. So beware and I hope that Intermountain gets in very soon to the area because I love the area but the medical care and hospital need a BIG TIME OVERHAUL. I like dr hartwell but i cant deal with the older woman who identified herself as "the owner's wife". I called because my prescription provider said they sent a renewal request, which was denied, and that i needed to provide additional information. The minute she answered the phone, she gave me attitude. All i wanted was a smooth simple conversation with a professional but i got talked to like i was stupid. As much as I like dr hartwell, I can't believe the demeanor of the woman over the phone, so i will not be back. I only deal with professionals. I highly recommend him . Also, the staff is very friendly.

my husband and I have been patients for years and have always recommended Dr Hartwell to others when questioned. His staff is always super friendly and efficient, regular patients can call to be seen the first hour of each open day IF SICK-like a clinic. He has a caring spirit and we never feel rushed. In our case, preventative tests he has scheduled us for, have led to treatment and his follow up has always been speedy and communicative. We are very happy with Dr Hartwell and his staff.

Dr. Hartwell truly cares about the welfare and concerns of his patients. He listens intently to what I have to say and comes back with inspired solutions and/or suggestions to address my medical issues - and is always on top of any developing or existing problem. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Hartwell has been my doctor for all 21 years of my life. He is an amazing Doctor and I live an hour away from him and continue using him as my primary doctor!!! he is very helpful and always explains everything very thoroughly!
