Dr. Marc Alan Helzer

I have been using Metro Health Rockford for over 15 years. My original doctor left, and Dr. Helzer took over his patients. I wouldn’t recommend any other doctor besides him & my last doctor. He is kind, efficient, gets to the point. He doesn’t order unnecessary testing, & from what other people have said, he is NOT dismissive, by any means. He remembershh his patients, asks about your every day life, and even remembers details (if you give them) that are personal to you, & ONLY you, have told him in the past visits. He actually cares, & wants you to be healthy! Not only physically, mentally, but also emotionally. I even lived 2 1/2 hours away at one point & still wouldn’t switch doctors, because he is so trustworthy. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my healthcare. My father even drives 3 hours just to see him as a PCP, & has been seeing him for years also. It’s hard to put trust into a PCP when you feel like you’re not getting results, but he is the doctor I have trusted with my life.

Glad we are moving forward after this Covid situation. Still cautious for now!!

Dr. helzer is my absolute last choice when scheduling a apt for myself or my family. He is quick to dismiss you and makes you feel like your just a number and not a real person. He talks over you if you say anything and barely answers your questions. I dont recommend him as a family dr at all

He was so caring, honest, informative and kind... I will continue to recommend him. What a great guy!! Kudos to him for being real and exactly what a doc should be, humble, truthful and on "our" level. I am a nurse, finding a doc like him is a rare thing.

One of the worst doctors if have ever seen. At the first visit he said all the right things and was very likable. Then it went down hill quickly. His follow through was horrible. I was sent for blood work and he never got back with me. I scheduled an appointments to review and he did not have the results (weeks later and two times) The final straw was his requirement to have blood work taken more often than my insurance would cover.

He was very caring and was interested in your problems and I would recomed him to others.

Dr. Helzer is personable and extremely informative. His approach in medicine is easy to understand as the patient. I continue to recommend him to any family or friends in the area that are looking for a physician.
