I had a visit the other day that just does not feel right. The visit started with her fat shaming me, saying it looks like I ate too much during Thanksgiving. That is not ok to say to a person really struggling with the pregnancy weight gain, I am trying my best and am still in a healthy range. Comments like that from a DOCTOR are not healthy and can lead women to partake in unhealthy practices to avoid the weight gain shaming of a doctor. Next, I had some concerns about pregnancy related issues that have escalated to become very uncomfortable. Every relief measure out there says if pregnant consult a doctor. Well, I was consulting a doctor! I was just hoping to hear, "For some patients when this arises x, y,z tends to provide relief and are safe while pregnant." Instead she replied with that's just pregnancy. at altitude and will all be worth it when the bundle of joy arrives. She has a reputation of fat shaming women and bullying unwed mother's!

I had a small pain in my lower abdominal area and Dr. Santa Maria and her assistant Skylar were amazing in detecting a mass near my ovary. They immediately ordered the tests necessary and helped me find the perfect surgeon to remove the potentially cancerous mass laparoscopically. They were professional, responsive and compassionate. I could not be happier with the care I received and continue to receive from Dr. Santa Maria and Skylar.

It is thanks to Dr. Santa Maria that my daughter is alive as am I. I am considered high risk. Dr. Santa Maria listened to my worries and was very cautious. She is blunt which I like a lot. It was because of her that I got a cerclage and had a successful pregnancy (and delivery) after many losses. I am so grateful to her.
