When I first saw Dr Goltz for a mysterious leg locking condition, he was attentive although he misdiagnosed it as patella subluxation (which it transpired it was not.) That per se would not be an issue, we are all human, but when I saw him again, there was no continuity and he hadn't listened to my particular issues. Would not recommend.

Our teenage daughter ruptured her Achilles and we used Dr. Goltz for the surgical repair. A month after surgery she developed an infection so bad it required emergency surgery. We repeatedly took her into his office with concern and he was dismissive and rude. Even after the surgery to flush her infection she developed ANOTHER infection that resulted in having her bone scraped, a wound vac installed, and 3 more surgeries. She was in a boot, cast, or wheelchair for months and needed plastic surgery and months of PT. DO NOT USE GOLTZ!!!

Dr. Goltz is hands down one of the most skilled orthopedic surgeons in the bay area. He specializes in knee procedures, but excels at any sports related injury. He is the head physician for the US Olympic Ski team and a must see if you are suffering from knee pathology.

Dr Goetz is a remarkable man. He has a laser focused specialty: knees He saw me in 5 minutes, had 7 xrays taken, interpreted them for me, diagnosed snd then have me the precise steroid injection needed. Within 2 days my stubborn debilitating knee pain was gone and I have returned to being a top class tower on the international stage. Dr Goetz is a remarkable man. DR Goltz is horrible, when i had a shattered knee he said he was going to remove the upper half of the kneecap and kept me in the dark about infromation and tried to make my expectations as low and negative as possible.fortunately after a medical doctor frined told me i needed to see a trauma doctor not a knee doctor, I saw DR Morshed at UCSF who was able to reassemble my kneecap with a new medical technology that DR goltz never even mentioned using. Had i been operated on by DR goltz, my upper kneecap would be gone. never ever go near dr goltz, he is absolutely awful.

I am very happy a friend who is spine doctor referred me elsewhere after I saw Goltz. I had a shattered knee-cap and the type of doctor you should see is a Bone trauma doctor, I had at first mistaken that you see a knee doctor, Dr goltz however did not say that at all, he just gave limited info to me about the Surgical process and said he could do it, but would probably remove part of my knee and would use the old pin style surgery. I would not be suprised if he had never done one before. if he were a responsable doctor, he would have told me to go to a trauma doctor instead, but thats clearly not what he does. He also has really terrible bedside manner which is some bad icing on the cake. I fortunately got the surgery done with a bone trauma doctor named DR morshed at UCSF and he used the latest mesh technology to put my 7 pices of knee-cap back together and I did not need to have the top half of my knee cap removed. Don't go to this Careless, selfish knee doctor for your issues. I am very happy a friend who is spine doctor referred me elsewhere after I saw Goltz. This guy surgically rebuilt my shoulder and did a fantastic job. Yeah he’s a tad quirky. But most doctors are! He did such a good job that my new shoulder feels like nothing ever happened to it in the first place. Burly mountain bike injury, blow ligament structure. And it’s like new.

Dr. Goltz surgically repaired a meniscus tear which had gone undiagnosed for 7 months after a ski injury. He encouraged me to get an MRI after another Orthopedist told me I would heal on my own. My meniscus related pain disappeared immediately after surgery and the incision soreness was gone after two weeks. He encouraged me to keep doing pre-surgical exercises and then increased my strength with post-surgical PT. The day of surgery he told me to not use my crutches and to take a long walk the day after surgery. He told me the pain and swelling would be my guide. Can't say enough good things.

Dr. Goltz is a fantastic surgeon who is in high demand so you don't get to spend a lot of time with him. He answered every question I had but it was my responsibility, as a patient, to drive the conversation. I found it helpful to keep a running list of questions and fire away when I did see him. Dr. Goltz treated me for a meniscus tear and re-repaired my ACL (2 different surgeries during a one year span) and I am doing much better then after my first ACL repair 15 years ago. If you are an active person and committed to doing your PT, this is the Dr. you want to see.

Dr. Goltz was the doctor on duty when I was in Marin General Hospital recovering from major shoulder surgery. The nerve block had been incorrectly administered and when it wore off I was in excruciating pain, shaking like an animal and wailing in pain - like nothing I've experienced in my life. The experienced nurses wanted to give me drip sedatives but Dr. Golz refused to give approval and instead left me to writhe in pain for 6 hours until finally a new doctor came on duty and said this was crazy and they immediately needed to sedate me. The Marin General staff, including administrators, were shocked by Dr. Goltz lack of concern, care and professionalism and he was strongly reprimanded from the head of patient services, which went on record. He expressed no contrition and made no apology. I would not want Dr. Goltz as my doctor! Dr. Goltz was the doctor on duty when I was in Marin General Hospital recovering from major shoulder surgery. I saw Dr. Goltz at Mt Tam Orthopedics in Larkspur CA - I have no cartilage and severe arthritis in my knees and they give me trouble from time to time - one knee is currently locked from fully extending. Upon review of my X-rays, Dr. Goltz provided a range or options from least to most intrusive. The least intrusive procedure (a cortisone shot) was applied at the office on my first visit, and has already greatly helped. I appreciate Dr. Goltz's expertise and professionalism and based on my situation, I anticipate seeing more of Dr. Goltz in the future. Dr. Goltz is professional, skillful, and thoughtful. He performed a complex (4-part) surgery on my right shoulder in under 90 minutes with excellent recovery and nearly zero scarring. I’ve sent 5 friends with shoulder problems to him and he has recommended surgery only one time; the other 4 were fixed through PT and in some cases cortisone injections. A great physician, particularly attuned to athletes - including those of us who keep trying to be athletes in our middle age despite full time jobs :) Dr. Goltz is professional, skillful, and thoughtful. Dr. Goltz operated on the ACL rupture of my daughter's knee after a ski accident. We had excellent experience and results with him and his staff. From the first visit to Mt Tam Orthopedic, to a full recovery on the surgery, our family thinks the quality of the work, of the communication, of the options presented were excellent. The accident happened over a year ago. My daughter Anais experienced a full recovery. She is back in CO skiing with no pain in the knee. Thank you Dr. Goltz.

Upon arriving, with a fractured foot, I hopped into the office, then hopped back to the examination room. I met with a PA, who was GREAT! She spent 20-30 minutes with me, talking and looking at my X-rays. Dr. Goltz came in, spent less that 3 minutes looking at my X-rays and talking with me. Told me that my foot was not fractured, openly disagreeing with the PA, in front of me and then prescribed PT. His bedside manner was horrible and he was honestly a prick. Thankfully I sought a 2nd opinion.
