Barbara A Gurden

Dr. Gurden is incredible. I have been her patient since 1998, I’m now 29 years old. She delivered my little sister at Memorial in year 2000. I am proud to say my child and husband are also her patients. When I was a child Dr. Gurden saved my life on a few occasions when I was ill with the flu, strep throat and other illnesses. I feel relief knowing that my 6 year old daughter can also be given the same quality care I have been given all these years. Not only has she taken great care of my health, but also she is lovely to speak with at every appointment. It’s rare to find a doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care. Her staff are always very helpful and friendly Tabitha has been there for years and she is one of my favorite staff memebers. Thank you Dr. Gurden for all the years of love and care. Dr. Gurden is dangerous. In my young teenage years, I would have trouble focusing in school and I went through a rebellious stage (like many teens do). I was never aggressive or self-harming but my mother didn't know how to handle a rebellious teen failing school and she took me to Dr. Gurden to see if she could help. Rather than order testing for ADHD or any other mental health-related testing, she prescribed me Wellbutrin for depression (was never diagnosed) and Risperidone (which is primarily used for physically aggressive children with autism or those with schizophrenia/bipolar disorder. None of which I had) for... What I can only imagine was to sedate me. & Sedate me it did. I turned into a zombie. I was no longer sad, I was no longer happy. I no longer snuck out in a rebellious fashion because I no longer wanted to do anything. I lost all my friends because I simply didn't care about keeping them. I was the epitome of apathy. It did not help me in school and I continued to fail. One day (thanks to someone telling me that I've completely changed) I had an epiphany that the drugs I was prescribed made me into someone without life and I chose to stop taking them. Slowly, my emotions returned and I actually cared about life again. Looking back at this event, I am extremely nervous for those who bring their children to Dr. Gurden as she will prescribe very extreme drugs without proper testing to determine the cause of an issue. Prescribes extreme sedation medication without proper diagnosis.

Very disappointed with how the office staff and Dr. Gurden handled their own clerical error. I called in February this year to make an appointment. This would have been my first time back to see Dr. Gurden in over 10 years after living out of state. The receptionist and I couldn’t find a date that worked with both of our schedules, apparently Dr. Gurden is booked months out. I let the receptionist know I would call back when I looked at my work schedule and had a better idea of a date and time. Fast forward to May, while at work, I received a missed call and a voicemail stating that had missed my appointment that day. Confused, because I never made an appointment, I called the office. They rudely informed me that I missed my appointment and that I cannot book again because I “no showed” and “didn’t answer their call”. I never booked an appointment with their office, and I never received communication confirming an appointment. I debated leaving a review, it’s very rare that I do, but I wanted to share this disappointing experience. Even if I was “allowed” to book a future appointment with them, I wouldn’t. This doctor needs to retire. She hates people and life. Terrible bedside manners and disrespectful. Unethical and inappropriate.

The sad reality of health care in 2018 hits you right between the eyes moment you want though the doors. From the overworked, rude, unprofessional front desk staff, to the Dr. (Sry, Nurse practitioner) that no idea what anything costs and treats you like a faceless cash cow to be milked its all here. The name of the game has become: Usher them though quickly, and bill them heavily! All hiding under the facade of marketing that screams platitudes like "We put the CARE in health care". I'm sure you want specifics, enjoy: 1) Front desk staff is rude to the point of dark comedy 2) The nurse practitioner we were dealing with takes routinely Tuesdays off. We had a medical emergency on our hands (on a Tuesday) and our practitioner was inaccessible. Because of MHC inter-office policies is was impossible for any other doctor to help us or assess our information to provide aide in any way. 3) The doctors have NO IDEA what anything costs. When we discussed this what the billing staff they deal with this like its a point of pride, and turn on the shame on, to the tune of "Our doctors to busy helping people to sully their hands with this and pedestrian as what things and cost!" 4) Fees are above industry standard. During our getting to know you visit our doctor did a freezing treatment on a wart (that took all of 30 seconds) and was billed at $256 dollars. Then upon review, industry standard for this treatment is right around $70 to $100. 5) After paying $130 upfront for our general visit we received an additional bill full of hidden costs 4 months later for almost $600, with an absurdly short timeline of payment before the late fees start flowing. Thanks for getting us that invoice, and just in time for Christmas! In summery I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. And I assure you that I'm going to repose this review on every social network that I can to get the word out before others fall prey to this racket. Honestly it's kind of sad, there was a time (not that long ago) when health care providers held themselves to a higher standard because of things called integrity, honor, and empathy. But Memorial Healthcare and there partners in crime are doing everything in their power to rip down that memory down brick by brick in there pursuit of king dollar on the backs of the common people's stuffing. don't know who john taylor is. see above review. never met the man. i know that he works for purposeful marketing group. in lansing draw your own conclusions. i find it unethical to attempt to smear someone you don't know.

Dr. Gurden is a good doctor. No complaints. However, the office staff is frustrating (bordering on maddening) as far as patient request goes. Like filling out and faxing a simple form. If the patient was related, (husband, son, daughter, ect. ) I feel these simple task would be completed a.s.a.p. however, in this regard, getting these things done in a timely fashion is lacking but on the plus side and make no mistake, your bill will arrive without a problem.

Dr. Gurden is a great listener and very smart. She is a great doctor.

Run as fast as u can ,Dr Gurden Said She would Take care of me for life,after 15 years as a patient was told that I was no longer a patient,left in A-Fib for weeks with no explanation, no Dr. no life saving meds, You decide!

This office has given me nothing but problems. They overbook patients and the receptionists are rude and snippy. They are extremely inflexible, even in medical emergencies. I absolutely would not recommend this practice to anyone.

Great experience. She is very hard to get in to for physucals, but when we have needed her to see our girls quickly for acute care, we always get right in.

I do not see Dr Gurden, however my wife does. I have been married to her for less than a year and in that time we have run into MANY instances where Dr. Gurdens office was unprofessional, short, and just plain mean. Most recently my wife was trying to get her prescription filled and for 4 days that failed to send the prescription to the pharmacy. My wife called at lead a 3 times a day and STILL nothing. They need to learn what "providing a service" really means I do not see Dr Gurden, however my wife does.
