Dr. WALTER ELLISTON is THE BEST! He has an incredible bedside manner. He’s so down to earth and genuine. I’ve been a patient of his for over 9 years. Dr. Elliston is incredibly easy to talk to. He TRULY LISTENS. I have ADHD and he’s the only provider that got my meds and dosage correct! He is incredibly thorough and doesn’t rush during my appointments. Also, SARI & K are ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC & EFFICIENT. They respond quickly and they’re delightful. Dr. Elliston, Sari & K absolutely rock!! Thank you for all you do!! Randee

Took my stroke survivor wife there since her existing psychiatrist disappeared without a trace. Wanted her to be seen my the doctor who refused and made us deal with a nurse practitioner who was rude, argumentative, would t listen. Worst experience ever. Wasted over an hour there with no results. Need to find her another one.

Dr Elliston is a wonderful provider, he listens carefully and without any judgment towards you, he helps you understand the medical and pharmaceutical details of your condition, and is just very pleasant to work with. I would recommend him for generalized anxiety disorders and ADHD management.

I was a patient of Dr. Elliston’s for about 10 months. His office staff were pretty awful, always have an attitude, and were increasingly difficult to put up with. Before my last encounter with their office, they told me I wasn’t in compliance with an office policy & had to reschedule my appointment. I asked if I could have a copy of the office policies emailed to me so that I could be better prepared for future visits and adhering to office policies. Then was told by the same staff member that they don’t have office policies. Mind you, my profession is managing the office of a psychiatrist so I know when I’m getting the run around!

I had a really great family doctor growing up, Robert Meyerson, and have had some decent ones since (in part because I try hard to research them). But so far Doctor Elliston sure gives even Meyerson a run for his money. Only downside is someone so talented gets booked out, so can be challenging for more impromptu bookings. But even that they'll try to work with you on when there's cancellations. Also a shoutout to Jaala Satterfield, as she's a real asset to their office. I have visited other psychiatrists over the years and this was the most dishonest experience. In 2018, I was researching who would be an ideally experienced doctor to provide my first ADHD evaluation. I compared practices and prices, and was assured that the $325 fee would cover a full HOUR with the PSYCHIATRIST. I specifically asked if I would have all the time with Dr. Ellison to ask in-depth questions. When my appointment came, I was taken to an office by an NP, who spent over an hour giving me a verbal questionnaire. Dr. Elliston only showed up the last 10 minutes to hear her brief recap and hand me a small article he gives out showing bipolar is more common than ADHD. How could you diagnose and medicate someone for bipolar when 1. You only spend 10 min with them and 2. They are already on an SDRI for depression? How can you ethically make such a serious diagnosis without even knowing whether certain symptoms are the side effects of an existing prescription? Apparently, he gives out bipolar diagnoses to many of his patients on a whim like this. The part I find most unethical is being lied to about what my $325 was buying (uninsured) and them charging so much for an NP’s time. I am happy to report that after 18 years I am off all medications and have better focus, reduced crying and anger. I spend my money seeing a therapist now who does not push medication on me or label me as mentally ill. I have visited other psychiatrists over the years and this was the most dishonest experience. Dr Elliston has been a care provider for a few years. He is the best doctor I have worked with and seems to find GREAT staff!

Dr. Elliston is a caring and knowledgable Dr. He never rushes through an appointment, always giving you the time you need. He is cautious when prescribing medications, especially the newly approved ones without a long track record. He also has recommended adding more natural supplements to help me such as Vitamin B12 and Omega 3 Fish Oil, and I appreciate that. Dr Elliston is great. Please do not let the review RE: clerical staff dissuade you. Yes that practice has its issues on the front side of the house with clerks and administration, however that is not representative of the incredible service Dr. Elliston provides.

Excellent Physician! Very thorough, takes his time. Records thorough information in medical records and remembers details from previous visits.

Great psychiatrist! I have been coming here for 2.5 years and have not once had an issue with Dr. Elliston, Debbie (his NP) or the front office staff. I have never had to wait in the waiting room for over 20 minutes. There have been at least 2 occasions where I was late to my appointment because of work and they allowed me to see another provider the same day fairly quickly. Dr. Elliston is an excellent, insightful listener! He's very considerate and has never rushed through any of my appointments. Highly recommend him! :) Great psychiatrist! I have been seeding Dr. Elliston since he began practicing at Medical City. He's a laid back and easy going man, with a good demeanor and he listens...very intently. I have always appreciated his 'bedside manner' and I am now in my 10th year seeing him four times a year. I have sent multiple friends to see Walt, and would never consider any one else as my doc.

The clerical staff is generally abrupt and somewhat condescending (when you phone the office, the attendant will answer "Holiner Psychiatric Group - Please Hold" - - before you can say a word, you are On Hold, and you can expect to stay there for a very long time) or at times they don't even answer there phone and u r left wondering if someone will call back or not , they gave me an appointment at 1:30 pm came driving for more than an hour all the way from Fort Worth and construction around there office got me stuck for 5 min , anyways I made it eventually only to here ooooops sorry u have to reschedule our policy is 20 min late how is it 20 min when I was in there at 1:35 and my appointment is at 1:30 , with so much attitude the answer was well u had to be here at 1:15 his stuff office r so rude and intimidating, I rather go look for another Dr tht have human staff . Three in my family see Dr. Elliston. We appreciate his wisdom with recommending vitamins, fish oil, and exercise as well as prescribing medicine. One needs to make appointments at least a month ahead to be able to see him and not a nurse practitioner. Appointments are 15 minutes long and often interrupted .
