Dr. Venera R Miller

Dr. Miller is a caring type of individual seen less and less in the medical field. She always puts her patients" welfare first. She has a excellent knowledge of the psychotropic medicines available with their effects and interactions. I cannot say enough about the positive affect Dr. Miller has had on my life and my family. Her open nature makes one immediate comfortable to discuss any subject. It is obvious she enjoys her work. She is discipled so that the patient receives courteous professional service. I feel blessed to have her as my psychiatrist.

Dr. Miller is amazing. She listens to what you have to say and asks in depth, specific, and open-ended questions to learn more about you, what you're struggling with, and how she can help. I've gone to many doctors who I've felt did not actually hear what I was telling them and instead, assumed without asking questions, what was wrong with me. I was in my previous doctors offices no longer than 30 minutes before being given a perscription and sent on my way. I went through medication after medication for years and nothing was helping me. I wasn't made fully aware of the risks and side effects of all the medication I was bouncing around from and felt little hope until I was introduced to Dr. Miller. Not only does she actively listen without judgement, she's always willing to be schedule flexible and communicates openly about all the effects, negative and positive, regarding your medication. She's a very detailed person and never misses an opportunity to ask if there is anything she can help further with; whether that's recommending another physician, like a therapist, or help with medication insurance/cost arrangements. The staff she has supporting her in the office and online are incredibly kind and non-judgemental. They make scheduling and communication stress-free.

It wasn't until I began seeing a new psychiatrist that I realized how unconcerned Dr. Miller truly was during the years I spent under her care. If you're looking for a doctor who will write you prescriptions and send you on your way, without actually addressing and helping you work through the underlying issues, then you will probably find her to be adequate. The sad part is that she's a very knowledgeable doctor (double board-certified) but just doesn't care that much about whether you improve or not - as long as you've paid your balance and signed her extensive legal waivers... I can honestly say I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. My new psychiatrist and I have made amazing progress and I haven't even been seeing them as long as I saw Dr. Miller.

At a time when I'd been severely depressed for well over a year, she assured me with great confidence that I'd be well again...and she was right! Dr. Miller spent over two hours with me at my initial evaluation. She took the time to ask all the right questions about my mental health history and she was confident she could help me find wellness again. She was right! Under her care, I'm finally beginning to stabilize after a nearly two-year-long battle with a major depressive episode. I highly recommend Dr. Miller!

I saw her several years ago so maybe things have changed. She seems to be a very good doc however l waited about 3 hours to see her and I was furious. I was already on meds and she prescribed multiple changes at a time which is always a bad idea. In addition she takes no emergency phone calls and instead makes you come back to office which I guess explains 3 hour wait times. I have seen multiple psychiatrists over the past 30 years and have not known too many who will not take emergency phone calls. At the time I saw her I was having constant panic attacks and depression. I was seriously going to report her. I saw her several years ago so maybe things have changed. Receptionist is short, curt, rude, and unprofessional. Even though they are listed as an IN-NETWORK provider with my insurance company, on the online provider directory, they refuse to accept it and instead charge $400 CASH out of pocket (they won’t even accept credit card!) so I cancelled my New Patient appointment. And my sweet mother has been a patient there for years (they accepted insurance when she became a patient and established the Dr-patient relationship) and then they choose to change their policy after the fact, and yet they still refuse to bill either of her insurances, so she continues to pay 100% out of pocket, on a very low fixed income. Deplorable! If you actually cared about your patients, instead of only making more money, you’d be willing to file insurance claims and accept negotiated insurance fees/rates- why not invest a little extra effort and time on behalf of your patients so they can utilize the benefits they’re entitled to? (Update) to add insult to injury- they’ve contacted my mother and ordered her to have me take my review down (As if she can be expected to control the actions and choices of her adult daughter) or they would dismiss HER as a patient! And 2) advised that they plan to sue me for defamation. Wow. Go ahead and try. Public reviews are covered under the right to free speech under the First Ammendment of the Constitution. I have every right to share my honest opinion and review and they have no right to bully me into deleting it nor to threaten to punish my mother, a long time patient in good standing, just because I posted a negative review about my experience. Dr. Miller gave me back an active strong life. her education, skill and talent carefully rebalanced my brain chemistry very quickly after first starting to see her. She has handled any changes occurring very accurately. I cannot thank her enough. Grace manages her office efficiently and treats all guests equally well. I have been a patient of Dr Miller since 2007. I find that she is very knowledgeable of both psychiatry and internal medicine. Having both has been helpful in my diagnosis and has been easy and helpful to understand my questions that we work on to get me to the “normal” I want to be. If I have any problems she is caring and doesn’t rush my time so she can actually listen to my concerns. Her administrative help, Grace, is so patient, helpful, very pleasant and personable. She takes time to listen and takes care of your needs in a professional and timely manner no matter how busy she is. I’ve seen many psychiatrists over 20 years and so for reasons I’ve listed these are why I am highly recommending her.

I have been seeing Dr. Miller for several years. She has helped me through the darkest periods of my life. She is always willing to adjust my medication and she genuinely cares about my wellbeing. Unfortunately, she does not accept any insurance, so I have to pay $100 every time I visit. This really adds up over the year. If you can't afford that, definitely stay away. I feel that I receive excellent care from Dr Miller. She seems competent and treats me very well. She listens to me and then we discuss and make decisions about medication together. She does seem to consider my input. The office is well run. I find it easy to make appointments and she has never cancelled. I don't wait long to be seen. My experience is only positive

Psychiatry care is not your common doctor visit. It takes courage to seek care and difficult to find providers that take time and patience to get one better. The intimate atmosphere in the office, the very attentive staff and very thorough doctor makes it a very good experience considering the fact that one needs help and understanding.
