Dr. Steven Joseph Reiss

I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. Nothing but lies. But medical reports and mri speak for themselves. Wow I am so amazed with you after summary report.

My appointment scheduling went very smoothly. My wait time was maybe 10 minutes. These people that complain that they had to wait don’t seem to think about “well, maybe he’s explaining the procedure to be done” or “he takes his time with patients”. I had a discectomy scheduled and once he saw that I also had a ligament being crushed, he released that as well. His staff is very friendly. Dr. Reiss is somewhat reserved but friendly.

I’ve had bad sciatica in my left leg and also not as bad in my right. My lower back pain was starting to get bad. I consulted with Dr Reis a couple of years ago and him being conservative he suggested I try rehab first to see if that would help. After several months and no relief I decided to try pain management. The first shot was amazing but it quickly wore off, and tried a second that did not help at all. After consulting again with Dr Reiss and getting an MRI things were moving forward. He wanted me to get a myelogram the following week. It showed how bad things were. It was decided the I would have a L4, L5 spinal fusion. As I recover from surgery this week I cannot say enough of Dr Reiss and his compassion and expertise. I currently have no pain except for a tender incision which will pass. I have rehab planned and should be good to go in 5 weeks. We are planning a trip to Europe in 8 weeks which Doc thinks it will be fine. I think Dr Reiss is exceptional. Good luck

This is worst place to get an appointment. Done everything they needed, started back in May it is now November and was told he could not see me until next year. Would not recommend getting appointments with any of this group. Was told yesterday another dr could see me in Dec if referral was changed to that person. Got it done and Today told was told he could not see me. He don’t do second opinions. I just want the first one. Very disappointed in these doctors!!! This is worst place to get an appointment. He was not my surgeon but did my follow up from a surgery in Florida. I found him hard to get straight information about recovery diagnosis he basically said because he didn’t do my surgery but do what you feel comfortable with. Not exactly the information I was looking for after having surgery for aChronic Subdural Hematoma.

This doctor is a joke first they told me I need a referral to see there doctor from my doctor. I got one then they go on to tell me it has to be approved by their doctor before they can make me an appointment. So you got to jump through fire just to get an appointment no thanks I go somewhere else and on top of that she tells me it might be February before we can get you in. Easy to talk to, and he knew his profession

Extremely pleasant and informative regarding my Dad's injuries. Explained why certain procedures would be better than others which we thought would be best because we had heard of others. Great beside manner and spent as much time with us as we needed to understand.

Dr. Reiss has been taking care of me since 2015 and has performed 3 surgeries to date on me. He is extremely professional and very kind. Very intelligent and willing to explain things to you. Over the years he has been my life saver fixing my spinal issues. In addition his staff are the very best, considerate, compassionate and helpful. I wouldn’t go to any other neurosurgeon! Steven was very professional I was very pleased with his work

Dr Reiss did my laminectomy 4 years ago. I was in so much pain before the surgery that I could not function. He is an excellent surgeon. When folks post about late appointments or his bedside manner to lower his rating, it’s infuriating to me. I had a great experience with the Dr as well as his office staff. I was told up front to bring my paperwork and X-rays to the hospital for my surgery. I did follow the instructions, per their office and everything went great. Realistically, for me, I really don’t care about his bedside manner. Knowing that he is a brilliant surgeon and will fix my issues is my only concern.

I love this gentleman, I’ve seen him twice once when a disc ruptured in my neck and caused my whole life’s arm to go numb , and once after my injuries in a car wreck , if he is doing your myelogram you are in extremely good hands he made a terrible procedure hardly noticeable. As for treatment he is very straight forward and is amazing at what he does. Please consider him if you need treatment or a second opinion. Thank you dr. Reiss!!! Dr reiss is very straight forward. As for the reviews that insult his personality or say that he is stern ... he’s a neuro surgeon. His bedside manor in the hospital is just fine. He did a wonderful job at my craniotomy I’m recovering well and having follow ups with his staff. My incision was minimal for a larger brain tumor and will be barely noticeable. Great surgeon. Starting at age 16, I have had 4 spinal surgeries in 25 years. Dr. Reiss did the 4th and while there is no doubt that he is an excellent surgeon, his people skills and ability explain things leave much to be desired. Appointments always run behind schedule, in the few minutes he spent with me during any office visit, pre-op, Post op, etc it was apparent that he couldn’t care less about the fact that he is a care giver. He was rude, cut me off while I tried to share details about my condition and showed no interest in ongoing care. I’ve had better conversations with baboons at the zoo. Unfortunately, he’s the best surgeon in town. If not for that, he never would’ve gotten a dime from me, although I will think twice if by some unfortunate circumstance I need a 5th surgery.

I never went to my appointment. They called to cancel over paperwork. Which is fine, considering whomever does the calling, was extremely rude. Edie, whom made rude comments about how young I am and my mother calling for me. Carol, whom had the attitude because I didn’t bring in the paperwork. They are careless (As in, you’re supposed to care about the patient) & extremely unprofessional. Would have went somewhere else, if I’d have known to read the already made reviews of this horribly managed “doctors office.”

I would not reccomend Dr. Reiss to anyone. He did my c6-c7 disc replacement and I've been in worse pain ever since. He has absolutely no bedside manner or empathy towards his patients. It took over a year to figure out why I was still in pain and that had to be done by another doctor.

He made my neck and arms better.

Fixed my back almost 20 years ago, wife got results back on a Tuesday he fixed her Friday, very professional. Also staff is excellent.

Although I didn't get to meet Dr. Reiss for a much wanted second opinion, I have decided against it The reason is the rudeness of the receptionist. I am older and was confused about the needed medical records release form, but it certainly gave her no right to be rude. If this is indicative of the attitude of his employees, it is best for myself to go elsewhere.

I am 10 days post op and have nothing but great things to say about this practice. The nurses, assistants and doctors are all amazing. They are very caring and very attentive to needs. I had to call over the weekend for something and was put directly through to a Doctor. I would highly recommend them if you need to have surgery.

I would personally recommend dr. Reiss to anyone who is scared of doctors, needles, hospitals etc. I recently needed a myelogram for neck and lower back pain , dr. Reiss actually bumped my appointment to a sooner date knowing what kind of pain I was in and walked me through the whole process! Myelograms are horrible do not get me wrong but if you have to have one done this is the man to get it from!!!!! I cannot thank him enough for being as amazing as he was, I have just recently began to get a spinal headache 4 days later which is my fault and dr. Reiss answered the phone at 4:00am to make sure he called in the medicine I needed to clear it up! Thank you again dr. Reiss and god bless you! I would personally recommend dr. I work in the OR at baptist health.about a month ago I was working Dr. Reiss’s partner Dr. Villanueva. I described my symptoms and took his advice of seeking out a steroid dose pak from my PCP and a MRI. Dr. Reiss was very approachable when I got my images. Appt scheduled within 10 minutes and we discussed options but I hinted that I wanted a microdisc and he agreed that’s what he would recommend.Instant relief, walked 2 Miles 4 hours after procedure.Him and Dr. V do great work highly rec.5stars

My dad had been recommended to see him and had optimal results after surgery, I then had been recommended by my dad on my misfortune to have to have spinal surgery and have fantastic results. Surgery sucks, but knowing Dr Reiss will do it right is worth it.

Our appt was for 1:30. After driving for an hour and a half we arrived at 1:31. The receptionist told us we were late (she said our appt was 1:15) and might have to be rescheduled. I explained about our drive and she said she would go ahead and put us in. After sitting there for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I asked how long it was going to be and she told us we had to reschedule because our appt was @ 1:30 and as a new patient we were supposed to be there at 1 so we were considered a no show.

Dr Reiss is one of the top 5 Neurologist in Louisville Ky. My husband has been going to him off and on. He comes across dry but he tells it like it is. Very good Dr

Dr. Reiss has a terrible bedside manner. Plus my surgery was not one of his best and it ruined my life! I am disabled and in constant pain. Worst decision of my life!

The office proclaimed to have attempted to get in contact with me for two weeks with only one missed call/voicemail on my phone. I also suffer from PTSD. When they canceled my appointment without informing me, my anxiety and PTSD kicked in. My husband attempted to speak with them about this and inquired why they would attempt to contact HIM (as they also stated they tried to call my husband to get in contact with me) when he's merely an emergency contact (he had no missed calls from them) when they couldn't even tell him what the call was about, since he is not on my HIPAA form (their words). So then, why did they proclaim to have called him if he isn't on my HIPAA release form? They then told my husband they'd call me back. I missed the call, so I call them back. I was informed I'd receive a phone call Monday but no call came. When I called them today, they inform me they are no longer going to care for me. Completely unprofessional. Dr. Reiss has operated on my back 3 times and just like a good mechanic he has kept me on the road! I don't have any problem with he his work or his staff!

I have been a patient of Dr. Reiss for years, when I was barely able to walk, he fixed my back. He doesn't beat around the bush, he tells you what is going on. I have no problem with this, I don't need someone to sugarcoat things, just to let me know what is going on and what my options are. Pro: surgery went well. Con: very little communication. 15 minute consultation, very brusque, and he arrived 30 minutes late, complaining how inconvenienced he was. Day of surgery, he spoke to me for about 2 minutes and seemed disinterested. He may be a terrific surgeon---I'm not qualified to judge that. I can say I was disturbed by his lack of care or compassion. I felt like a piece on an assembly-line.
