Dr. Scott Thomas Alvord

Had a terrible experience here. Went in for diagnosing and they did a single test. No interview or follow up questions. Took 3 months of pestering to get my results. I was diagnosed with a head injury at the age of 5 from a car accident. I have never been in a car accident nor had a head injury at age 5. I have seen other reviews that he has diagnosed people with things completely irrelevant to their person. Don't waste your time or money.

Had a very positive outcome with Dr. Scott Alvord. I'm hoping to get started with a therapist soon.

Had an appointment for my mother with Dr. Alvord, and when I was on my way I realized we had forgot her ID, which is completely my fault. I called 40 minutes before the appointment and asked their answering service if her ID was needed, and was told I would hear from the office with an answer. 20 minutes went by with no call back, so I decided to turn around for the ID just in case. I called back again to let them know I was going to be about 15-20 minutes late due to that. The answering service told me no problem and they would relay that message as well. I then got to the appointment 16 minutes late, and was told by Dr Alvord that he cancelled the appointment. I told him I called multiple times to communicate the situation and never got any sort of communication back. He didn’t care. After repeating that and asking why I couldn’t get a phone call returned to tell me whether or not the ID was needed or AT THE VERY LEAST call me and say he couldn’t accommodate, and he just walked away.

He is thorough Takes in every little piece to diagnose. Proposes options and is there when we need him. The only person our schizophrenic son will trust.

Dr. Alvord was billed by my attorney as a Psych Dr. who understands the relationship of physical pain, trauma, and psychological function. I was reassured that he would not attempt to diminish my personal experiences. This could not be farther from the truth. I read his report, on 4 separate occasions in this report, he used his own (misguided) assumptions and entered them as fact. The first and most ludicrous assumption was that "The patient is Gay." No joke! he actually wrote that! Which is obviously unprofessional, unethical, biased and in this case, flat out incorrect. At no point did I say that my partner was the same sex as me (because he isn't) So, I can only conclude that he made this assumption based on my appearance. I won't go into further detail about all the other issues I took with his report, but I would never suggest that anyone(especially a woman) goes to see this guy.

Seems nice, kind, informed. Unfortunately, lied to me and SSA. He asked if I'd mind splitting my appointment into two visits, his preference, first an interview to help him determine appropriate testing during second visit, he also said it's helpful if he's seen me more than once, if he has to go to a hearing on my behalf. It's a 2 hour drive for me, but I agreed. He asked for my email, he'd let me know when to return the following week, instead I received a nasty letter from SSA, incorrectly stating, I was 40 minutes late and that's why he was unable to do the neuropsychiatric exam. He had no intention of performing the exam on my first visit, as he interrupted me, to let me know his next client was there...'let's put a pin in it, my next client is here.' Can't be trusted. Be careful.

Lied to me. Told me he'd prefer to see me twice, first appointment an interview to determine which tests he'd perform during the second appointment, he also said it would be better for me, if he'd seen me more than once, if he had to go to a hearing on my behalf. This information was given to me after I arrived for a neuropsychiatric exam. Even though it's a 2 hour drive for me, I agreed to return. Then, unexpectedly, he said "let's put a pin in it here, I have another client." Obviously, he had no intention of performinhg the exam on the first visit. He took my email, told me he'd be in touch, to plan on returning the following week, Monday or Wednesday, he never emailed me. Instead he incorrectly reported to SSD that I was 40 minutes late, forcing a second visit. I received a nasty letter from SSA today, citing his mischaracterizations of our visit. I have enough to deal with, I don't need a provider lying to me or about me...he seemed so kind and genuine, what a rouse.

I have 6 positive lab tests documenting serious infections. I have the supporting documentation of 5 years of various treatments and therapies. He has the nerve to ignore every scientific medical professional and my experiences to diagnose me with a Somatic Symptom Disorder effectively saying I made everything up. Don't go near this guy.

He barely saw me, like 1 hour total. He decided I was Bi-Polar in that time, after doing 4 ishort intelligence tests. That was most certainly over-reaching and incorrect, and irresponsible - to label someone like that, when he hardly spent any time or effort actually trying to get to know me and show true care!???? He felt impersonal, to me, insensitive. I didn't get the care I needed and hoped for, but he did help my legal case. I just won't be seeing him again. Sorry. Spoke my piece.

Dr Alvord was so easy to talk with, he could see what the problem was quickly, the best i have ever observed. I am a nurse and have worked with other Psychologist in the past, and he knew so much more and was more up to date. He could understand what my son had been through and what he needed. My son was happy with the way he was treated and came away feeling like he had hope for the first time. Thank you so much for caring... Carrie Landon, Chadd Franck
