Roseann Maikis

I was seen by Roseann Maikis, I let her know the complications I was having. She did a very fast paced ultrasound to see if I had cysts. She says she didn't see anything, I sent her nurse FMLA paperwork, I paid for the forms to be completed. The nurse informed me that FMLA would only be approved for surgeries. I did not get a refund ????. I went to see another doctor because as a black woman I had a feeling that Dr. Maikis wasn't going to listen to me. I did find another doctor and the new doctor found an adnexal mass on my fallopian tubes. Dr. Maikis was a horrible listener, and she is not thorough at all.

Dr. Maikis delivered all 5 of my children and also when it was needed she preformed my hysterectomy. I have complete trust in her.

Dr. Makis, her surgical team, nurse and office staff are amazing. I've been going to her for several years. She has performed a couple of fibroid removals (large amounts removed each time). I eventually changed to her as my gynecologist and she is extremely thorough. She also performed my C-section in 2021 for my healthy baby boy. I am older and was high risk but she was excellent during my pregnancy through the delivery. She helped me through my pre-eclampsia two weeks later and just did a hysterectomy on me. She is one of the best doctors I've ever had. She is detailed, kind and efficient. All of my scars from the incisions were minimal and healed well. I recommend her to all!!

It left me in the same pain 3 months later. I am unsure how she advertises that she is a premier excision surgeon. I do not believe she did an adequate job. She told me my case was very mild and she only found 6 spots of endometriosis. I just went to an actually excision specialist and I am 4 weeks post op and he said that he found endo everywhere and my case was not mild. Also on her website it states that complete laporscopic excision removes all VISIBLE spots of endometriosis. Endo can grow in non visible spots too. I do not recommend Dr Maikis for endometriosis surgery. If you are willing to travel, I 100% recommend Dr Robert Furr in Chattanooga TN

So I’ll be 100% transparent here. I read one crappy review before going in and was already skittish because she was one of the few providers accepting my insurance. Walking in the doors is where that anxiety left. The office staff was clear and efficient, not the warmest but not unkind either. Whatever, not every day can be a great day, right? Waiting area wasn’t cold and clinical, quite the opposite. Signs on doors and exam rooms were warm and almost more like a little country spa. The bathroom was warm and inviting (last thing you want when leaving a sample is an auto-flush toilet, always a pet peeve of mine). The nurse was super sweet and personable. Thorough without feeling like an interrogation. And Dr Maikis was equally as personable. I went in for an IUD consult. She was straight forward about her reservations and any possible drawbacks. She didn’t sugarcoat the process and was also thorough with what to expect and follow up. If anything I think one of the previous comments just couldn’t handle the transparency. I actually learned things I did not know about my requested product, and I previously had one 15 years ago. All that being said I stand behind my 5 starts and whole heartedly recommend Dr Maikis.

I visited Dr. Makis’s office once and never went back nor will I ever. I had went to Dr. Makis and was even going to schedule a lap for my endo. After my appointment and before scheduling I still had questions about the procedure since she cut it out and other doctors I had went to burned it out. It was a big deal to me to get this done right and finally feel better. At some point during our phone call she mentioned “you know this (endometriosis) won’t kill you, right?” In that moment I knew she has never had endo bc she would have never said anything like that, and that she does not truly care about what her patients are going through. I’ve had so many issues from endo that have completely taken away from my quality of life, from going through all of my sick days which were being spent doubled over crying in pain or at doctors offices, not being able to spend time with my family or enjoy day to day life. I’ve had 3 surgeries to remove my endo at 25 y/o and am still having complications every single day from this disease. I have no periods so it builds up very quickly in me. My first surgery with her and 2nd laparoscopy for what we suspected was another round of Endometriosis this time causing digestive issues. She can be direct/blunt, but her skills for this surgery have left me feeling better than my first surgery on day 1! So grateful and will be going back if I need to have a 3rd surgery

Dr. Maikis did my endometriosis removal 7 years ago. Unfortunately, it came back like it always had since the age of 13. I went back to Dr. Maikis because she is professional and always very thorough in explaining all options available. Roseann takes you back to her office after examinations to sit at her desk so she can demonstrate on an anatomy poster & educate you how your organs function. She wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision and never swayed me one way or the other which I’m so grateful for. This time I chose to have a hysterectomy. Every interaction I had at Dr. Maikis’s office & Centennial Women’s Hospital was the best care anyone could ask for. I would highly recommend her for endometrial care as she was one of the first doctors to perform robotic surgery in Nashville and continues to teach about it all over the country. After years of suffering from abnormal bleeding and multiple biopsies I went to see Dr. Maikis. What a blessing to finally find a Dr. who was decisive and confident with what needed to be done. She preformed a robotic hysterectomy a few weeks later. Went home the same day, didn't even have to take a pain pill. I would highly recommend Dr. Maikis. Wish I had found her years ago.

The absolute worst doctor that I have seen for endo! She wanted to do surgery right away and stated that she didn't give pain meds for cramps! This was even before the laws changed. All I wanted to do is be able to walk and work! Dr. Maikis you need better bedside manners just because your a surgeon doesn't mean you know how we feel!!!!!!! I was very nervous after I had been with my OB/Gyn for 8 years and then moved here, and at first I wasn’t sure what I thought about the clinic, but after going through a really bad experience and having Dr. Maikis was absolutely a blessing and she is phenomenal. She was very genuine, cared so much and was unbelievable!

I had my hysterectomy and endometriosis removal done by this surgeon in September. I chose the surgeon after lots of research especially on Hyster sisters. I have a local friend who had a hysterectomy and her surgeon did not remove all of her endometriosis leaving her in a lot of pain. I have stage for endometriosis and I’ve been through Lupron twice and I’ve already had endometriosis removal as well as a few other abdominal surgeries. I can say with confidence that this is a good surgeon. My stitches were so small even though she had to remove six separate areas of endometriosis on top of removing my uterus, Fallopian tubes, and cervix. She was able to save my ovaries but I’m still on hormones from my regular GYN Dr Lodge whom I also recommend highly! It is now December and I feel so much better. My scars are not noticeable. People are always amazed at how well I have done. Big tip: workout and eat healthy. Do pelvic floor therapy before your surgery. If you do these things you will be happier for it! I have nothing, but positive things to say about Dr. Maikis. Her office was able to get me in for a visit within a week of calling while offices in bowling green were telling me it would be next spring before they would see me even though I was having an issue that required surgery. She is kind and very knowledgeable. She listens to your questions/concerns and lets you make the overall decision of what you want done after giving you the options. I never felt pressured to go one way or the other with my decision. I had surgery yesterday and everything went smoothly. I felt like I was in good hands. Her office staff never gave me any trouble, the girl who assisted the doctor at my first visit was very personable and kind, she kept reassuring me that I picked the best doctor for my issues. Dr. Makis has been amazing! She is very knowledgable; friendly and warm, but direct and informative - exactly what I want in my GYN. The last year has thrown a few challenges my way, and she was able to talk me through my options objectively and with compassion. I couldn't recommend her more highly!

I was a patient several years ago and Dr Maikis delivered my son. Overall, the pregnancy and urgent c-section went well (which is the only reason I’m giving her 2 stars). However, when my son was 2, I went through a bad divorce. My periods had gotten awful (presumably due to stress), so at my yearly visit, I expressed an interest in going back on birth control. She refused to write the prescription. Citing that since I was going through a divorce, she thought birth control would encourage sexual promiscuity. What?! I had zero desire to even think about dating after ending a tumultuous 16 year marriage and raising a 2 year old. I left her office dumbfounded. I can count my lifetime partners on one hand, but even if I wanted to “play the field”, that was not her business. I didn’t appreciate her interjecting her beliefs on my healthcare. I moved, found another dr (who I love) and remarried 4 years later. And I never had any other children.

My doctor Dr Maikis removed my huge fibroids from my uterus today and I already feel good!!!!! She is one of the best doctors in the Nation right here in Nashville. Ladies call her and checkout your options to remove those fibroids.

When you're going into surgery and all the nurses tell you Dr. Maikis is the best and did their surgury or is their personal Dr. you know you're being cared for by one of the best.

My experience with Dr. Maikis is always positive, I like her straight forwardness, direct and straight to the point way of answering questions because she shows she confident in what she knows. I appreciate her attitude about care and protection of her clients and how we can do what needs to be done for preventive measures in our personal healthcare.

I was a very busy business owner, I just needed a Dr. to make sure my pregnancy & delivery was healthy. I didn’t need to be coddled or was asking very much. The pregnancy appointments were ok & to the point. Our very few questions were kind of dismissed as “It’s fine, nothing to worry about.” Her staff is amazing, I’ll give them that, but she seems a bit jaded. Anyhow, I was about a month away from my due date & went in for a visit for her to check how dilated I was. Without notice, she quite literally jammed her fingers up me very aggressively, it caused my uterus to contract & it was not only visible that I was in pain, I moaned very loudly out of natural reflex. She didn’t address my obvious brutal pain, pulled her hand out, turned around and threw her gloves away and said “everything is fine, you’re good to go.” My husband & I were in shock. I immediately told the front desk upon check out I need a new OBGYN ASAP. I got Dr. Binkley who gladly delivered my baby a week later.

The worst office staff, the doctor is one of the most racist nastiest people to talk to, treated me and my wife like trash, terrible bed side manners, won't recommend her to anyone that is seeking medical help. she does not belong to the field by all means.

I cannot explain the professionalism, organization, care, concern and skill demonstrated by Dr. Maikis and all of the CMC staff during my surgery. Dr. Maikis went above and beyond in caring for me from the beginning to the end of my surgery. She encouraged questions and was always there to answer questions or concerns for me and my family before and after surgery. She came to the surgery center the morning of surgery and met with me and my family member again to alleviate any concerns prior to surgery. She herself returns phone calls and speaks directly with you. I as a health care professional am so impressed by Dr. Maikis. After 4+ years of infertility, seeing multiple doctors, over twenty medicated cycles, and one miscarriage, my husband and I decided to reach out to Dr. Maikis in regards to attempting IUI after a friend referred us. I desperately did not want to visit a large fertility clinic and was hoping to find a doctor who understood women’s full reproductive health. Our first visit was incredibly reassuring, as Dr. Maikis not only gave us time in her office to hear our needs but she also took me for a transvaginal ultrasound. I have had appointments like these before, with doctor who had even preformed exploratory surgery, and never had preformed an ultrasound! So, her thorough approach was not lost on me. In fact, she was able to identify a potential problem in my uterus at that appointment l, that fortunately had worked itself out in my next period. Dr. Maikis gave me her fair, honest opinion on the likelihood of my getting pregnant through IUI considering my history and she sent my husband and I off to consider our options. We ultimately decided to do IUI and Dr. Maikis was positive and supportive. Her office was quick and gracious to fit me multiple times on their schedule based around the tricky timing of my cycle and I never once had to sit around waiting in the office for anyone. Most appointments I was walking in the office door and out in less than an hour. Which made it easy to duck in and out of work! Our first cycle, I had one follicle ready to go and while I was a little discouraged because I was hoping for several to increase my chances of success, Dr. Maikis would remind me “it only take one.” And it did. It only took that one sweet follicle to become our baby! To our utter shock, complete disbelief, and total joy, we became pregnant in our first round of IUI. We had prepared ourselves that we would give it a few shots- fully prepared to be disappointed in the end. But Dr. Maikis was willing to help us try and make this happen and do her very best to give us a fair chance at realizing a dream long deferred. Dr. Maikis is black and white in her delivery. She doesn’t pull punches and doesn’t say things just to say them. You can take her at her word. But she is also kind and gentle and celebrated our good news with a truly loving and sincere phone call. It was great to know that she specializes in high risk pregnancies and c-sections and would be the most excellent and trusted resource if I found myself in that circumstance. My husband and I most certainly my plan to get in Dr. Maikis’ schedule when we are ready to try for our next child and feel SO very very blessed to have found such a gifted and caring doctor. I would be amiss if I didn’t also mention Dr. Maikis’ nurse, Liz, who was just simply so easy to be comfortable around. She is incredibly hard working and compassionate. She talked with me for about 15 or 20 minutes one of the days my period was late before I could test and was really struggling with the anxiety of not knowing. The worst healthcare provider that we have ever encountered.

I have seen Dr. Maikis for years and stopped seeing her the past year. I should have left this review earlier, but was reminded by someone else's experience and wanted to tell mine. Dr. Maikis consulted me about birth control, disapproving in my suggestion for an IUD, and prescribed NuvaRing. I started taking and was having sex with my partner. I was having intense pain before and after sex. I went back to see Dr. Maikis several times and she disregarded my pain and suggested I have less sex. It wasn't until I was later researching that I noticed a side effect of the NuvaRing is pain during intercourse. Something a doctor would easily know. Why a modern female doctor would make me feel shame for sex with a partner, and not openly tell me the side effects of a contraceptive that she pushed... It's beyond me. I felt she was cold and often rushed the time I had with her. I do strongly feel that she is in the best interest of her and her practice and not the patients.

she told me at 11 weeks pregnant that I needed a c section and that I would never be able to have a baby vaginally because of the way my pelvic bones are. Switched doctors and had a beautiful healthy baby vaginally. Was told by several nurses that she loves c sections only. BEWARE and trust your gut. She is always very rude and doesnt listen at all to concerns

Dr. Maikis goes above and beyond! She and her staff always make me feel they truly care about me and my care.

Dr Maikis is very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable about asking any questions through the whole process. I appreciate her straightforwardness. On surgery day her calmness and bright smile helped to ease some anxiety and helped to reconfirm that I was in good hands.

I’ve seen dr. Maikis for 3 years now. She helped me remove over 10 spots of endometriosis over these few years and was the only gynecologist that would listen to me. I’m on 20 so saying I needed a hysterectomy was often looked badly at. I did need it though I had cancer cells growing and non stop pain. After my first endo surgery which went amazing she agreed to do the hysterectomy a few years later. She fought with my insurance so I could get this surgery and I have never felt so amazing in my life. I didn’t know this would create a new life for me but it had. Dr Maikis helped me tremendously. I had a successful Robotic Myomectomy in September 2018. I was going to another provider before her but they were not helpful. I found her office and seen great things about her treatment of Endometrosis and Uterine Fibroids. She also took the time out to talk to me in her office as a new patient which I truly appreciated. I highly recommend her.

Hands down the best surgeon and caring doctor I have ever experienced. Liz her nurse was also so sweet. I felt cared for from beginning to end. After having 3 kids, 2 were with different doctors and I never felt so safe in the hands of a knowledgeable Doctor. I was. New patient too. No long history. She’s straight forward and to the point but cares deeply about her patients. I miss having her as my OBGYN. If you’re needing a C-section she is your doctor!!!

I had an abdominal myomectomy (w/goal to keep uterus) the end of Aug. and I am very pleased. I should of had the surgery 6 yrs ago when I first had symptoms of multiple fibroids. But I was reluctant and put it off. I consulted w/Dr. Maikus and scheduled the surgery. She is wonderful. She doesn't sugar coat, but always ends w/ positive outlook. B/c of the number, size and location of fibroids, there was the possibility of hysterectomy. But in the end 15 fibroids removed and uterus left intact!

Very condescending and inattentive to your needs. She has horrible bedside manner as doesn’t take the time to listen to you. I switched right away!

Will never go back. No post-op follow despite the complications I had. I called and was told that she does not do follow ups. I felt like just another patient every time I came in. She didn't seem genuine. The office staff wasn't friendly and just rushed you out the door. I didn't feel as comfortable with this DR. as one should when having their first child. She wasn't even there when I delivered my child at the hospital. Hope this helps.

She is an amazing Dr. knows her stuff, but it’s sad that I had a balance that I was not aware because I have had so many Dr and and surgeons the past year I missed paying one. her staff cancelled my follow up appointment from the hysterectomy. I was told I could not be seen until I paid the 300 dollar balance. I offered to pay half today and half on the 1st which is less than a week away.That is when my Hsa dollars will re start and was denied that too. She performed a open Myomectomy To remove a very large fibroid and six smaller ones. After I woke up from the surgery my entire right leg was numb. I told her the next morning and she assured me it was because of how my fibroid was positioned. I was in so much pain after the surgery and they gave me a day worth of medication and that was it. As my leg was waking up it was extremely painful not to mention my c section I just had and she would not give me any tips or suggestions nor would she prescribe me any medication . When I asked her staff at first for a refill they told me that My leg was none of their concern and I should go see a nerve doctor. I had to beg and plead to get a follow up appointment that cost me over $500. She had wait over 2 hours before she saw me and she acted like I was a huge bother to her. Come to find out she accidentally nicked a nerve during surgery and this is the reason why I still to this day have no feeling in my right leg from my knee to my upper thigh. I have seen Dr. Maikis for well over a decade and I have nothing but good things to say about her. I was referred to her after my doctor moved. I am glad I was because I like her better! When faced with a surgery decision, she took me to her office and drew diagrams to explain my options and procedures, and called me personally the next day to answer questions. When I was released from the hospital, she called me personally. Most would leave a voicemail or have a nurse call, but she called back until she spoke to me live. From the time I checked into the hospital (Centennial) until I checked out, Multiple nurses explained how lucky I was to have her as a doctor and how her patients often have a better post-op experience over others. If anyone is ever dissatisfied with her services, her staff, etc., call her and let her know directly. When I wasn't happy with a place she recommended me to, she not only listened but set an appointment to speak to me in person about my concerns, directed me to another office and had her staff set-up everything so I didn't have to worry. Had a concern and called the Physician on call late at night. Dr. Maikis returned call and didn’t care at all. Told me to call normal hours instead of so late at night.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Maikis. She is caring and professional. She gives you all of the information you need, and consults with other doctors when she needs to — which indicates a wise person who wants to make sure you have the best care possible. While she didn’t actually deliver my baby (it was a holiday weekend) — the instructions she left in my chart were absolutely critical for the excellent care I received. I can’t recommend her more highly.

Dr. Maikis is an excellent surgeon. I had a laproscopic hysterectomy during the summer (have been meaning to write since then); pain minimal, scars - minimal. I ran up against some problems during the weeks after the surgery which led to CAT scans and such - but they did not seem directly related to the surgery; they were more problems related to the colon. I would recommend Dr. Maikis. As mentioned, I think she is an excellent surgeon.

Dr. Maikis is an excellent doctor for endometriosis. She discussed options with me and helped me choose the best, which was surgery. She helped me successfully shift my cycle for peak half marathon performance. She is blunt and may have a spiel, but I feel it's to my benefit and ensures she leaves nothing out. Repeatly asks me if I have more questions and has been good at reading between the lines at times. Receptionist is mildly rude, comes off irritated about 50% of the time and nice the rest

Dr. Maikis is well-informed and seems dedicated to providing the best preventative care. In my first office visit with her before an exam, she spelled out everything I needed to know and explained reasons for some of her methods that I'd never heard before but really appreciated. She can probably seem a little hasty if you're looking for someone to engage in deep conversation; however, I had a full GYN exam plus rectal exam in, maybe, 90 seconds? I've never had one so quick & painless.

Dr Maikis is the best dr you are going to find on the East Coast for surgical removal of endometriosis. I had a very severe case that she completely erradicated for me somehow thru her magical, surgical skill level. I'm not even sure she knows how good she is, but let me tell you, the best you are ever going to get! If you are in severe pain and have been given the runaround by other drs or had previous unsuccessful surgeries, this dr can and will correct what others would not even attempt.

You know your in great hands, when you're going into surgery and even all the nurses tell you Dr. Maikis is who I would use if I needed surgery. She is professional, intelligent, easy to talk to and most off all, very caring!

I saw Dr. Maikis for 3 yearly well-woman visits. While I can tell she is intelligent, I did not feel listened to or truly cared about. The appt. times were short and when I had issues with birth control, she often said, "We will just have to wait and see," even when I had been doing just that for too long. You will really need to stand up for yourself if you don't agree with her thoughts. I transferred to a midwife.

Dr. Maikis is my first and only OBG since i moved to Nashville. I don't plan on leaving her and the reason being that she listens to me, respects my opinions and Religious believes, she is confidence in what she does and very knowledgeable . Her staff are very respectful and good as well. I will strongly recommend her to family and friends without hesitation.

Dr Maikis was the first dr that listened to me. She listened to all my worries fears and concerns, and put me 100% at ease with my care in her hands. I would recommend Dr Maikis to ANYONE who is looking for an OB/GYN. She is Fantastic.

Very knowledgable physician. Not the best "bed side manner" and only questioned my concerns rather than answering them.

I have never felt so comfortable with any doctor in my life. I searched via internet for the best in the field and her name came up. I contacted her office and Dr. Maikis returned a call to me herself. Instantly I felt totally comfortable, trusting and that she was very personable and genuine. I flew all the way to Nashville from the Bahamas to see Dr. Maikis and I have not 1 regret. I truly believe she has saved my life. I am 1 day post op and I have no pain, no complications and no worries.

After years of growing fibroid I went for a consultation with Dr. Maikis and she talked with me about the challenges I was experiencing and helped me find my way to the decision to have the fibroids removed. I am only 1 week post op but can tell what a toll the fibroids actually were. Doctors will tell you that fibroids are generally benign and don't cause issues and individual situations can be different. Fibroids can be benign and cause a host of problems.
