Most thorough dental exam I've ever had. Dr. Thornell took his time, explaining dental health and concerns with me. The technology he uses makes it easy to understand and see with my own eyes what is going on in my mouth. I've never had a dentist take so much time on education. I have been with Thornell Dentistry since just after it opened, and was called Smilewide Dental back then. My family and I have never had a bad experience there and will continue to be seen by them for the foreseeable future. I just had two fillings done today, and they got me into the chair as soon as I entered their office. The procedure was excellent and I would hesitate to trust my (final set) teeth with anyone else.

First time there and loved how everything was well explained. The entire place was very welcoming. Loved it!

I have been going to Dr Thornell since he moved to Utah. He and her staff are great and make me feel at home

overall one of the most personable dentistry offices that I have visited, the staff gave warm and friendly greetings, and everything was taken care of in a very timely manner.

Dr. Thornell and his staff are terrific. In more than a decade of visits, I've only had one bad experience. But he assured me that my tongue would grow back, and it did. So it's all good.

Best experience, best staff and best dentist! I have a ridiculous fear and anxiety with the dentist office, and I had NONE yesterday! They were wonderful with my 2 year old, he can't wait to go back! I couldn't recommend more!

I love Dr. Thornell! He is professional and very kind and hires the best staff! I travel over 50 miles (each way) to my dental appointments just to see Dr Thornell so you KNOW that I am very happy with his work, his staff and his kindness!

This is THE BEST dentist visit I have ever had! Dr. Thornell and his team are absolutely wonderful. They made me feel so comfortable and confident the whole time. Their technology and service are seriously miles ahead of everyone else I have seen. I can say for once in my life that I am actually looking forward to my next visit instead of dreading it. My 7 year old crown fell off while chewing on some licorice!! Next day Thornell Dentistry had it repaired and back on in less than 45 min! Thanks goes out to Dr Thornell and his amazing staff!!!

Doctor Thornell provides the best service I’ve experienced in dentistry. His treatments have lead to extremely good outcomes for me, and I’m confident that he provides necessary care without adding unneeded treatments. His quality of care is at the top of his profession. I can’t compliment his staff, personal work, and office enough.

Our family has been coming to Dr. Thornell since he started his practice in Herriman many years ago.He is a very skilled dentist and is very personable and compassionate. We would love to keep going to Dr. Thornell, however his billing practices have made it so we can no longer afford to. We are double covered on dental insurance and we still have to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for couple of simple cleanings and fillings. I would give Dr. Thornell five stars for his skill, and one star for his billing and or billing rate practices. So, we meet in the middle with three stars overall. If money is no object, you can't get any better. If you are on a budget, like we are, you better go somewhere else. Dr. Thornell and his staff are great. My family has been coming here for a few years now and each visit has been great. The girls on staff are so nice and Dr. T has given us some great suggestions to help with my kids and their habits! My kids love going to the dentist, especially because they get a token at the end for a prize!

(Updating my post, because I returned for my cleaning.) I feel very lucky to have found this dental office. My initial visit was primarily an educational visit, where they thoroughly assessed the health of my mouth. I didn't have the time for the cleaning that day, so I returned later. The cleaning was the most thorough cleaning I've ever had. At my last dental office, they just scraped, rinsed, and polished (I'm sure those aren't the technical terms). At this dental office, they also used a little vibrating tool AND the hygienist used a microscope throughout the cleaning to ensure she didn't miss anything. She also went above and beyond answering my questions. Very impressive. I definitely felt like I got the bang for my buck. I also like that Dr. Thornell isn't employed by a corporation and doesn't have to meet quotas set by a company - he is completely independent, so he can do just what he thinks is best for your teeth. I feel very fortunate to have happened upon Dr. Thornell, as he and his staff have exceeded my expectations with quality of service, not to mention their genuine friendliness. If you want your teeth to last a long time, I recommend scheduling a visit with this office to see what they have to say. Below was my original review: It was only my first visit, but I thought it was a good practice. They took a bunch of pictures and x-rays from the start, and Dr. Thornell spent more time educating me about my teeth than any dentist I've seen before. He seems to honestly care about the health of your teeth and gums. He uses a microscope in his dental work, which is very rare, and a good sign about the quality of his work, since it allows him to be extra detailed. He also thoroughly answered all my questions and gave me great advice for better prevention. The assistant who took my x-rays and pictures of my teeth was also very friendly. I'm hopeful and optimistic that I've stumbled upon an excellent dental practice. I also appreciate that, even though I'm self-pay, the cost is still reasonable. Everyone has different experiences with price of dental care, but compared with the other dental practices I've been to, his prices are competitive. I left this review on the Smile Wide site but thought I should put it here too: Dr. Thornell and his staff are very good. They are very kind and thorough. I normally have very bad anxiety about going to the dentist, but he and his staff did everything they could to make it as positive of an experience as possible for me, and I really appreciated it. I like that they use microscopes (even for cleanings) so they can really get a detailed look at what's going on in your mouth. I had a cavity in one of my front teeth treated with his laser tech which was nice because I didn't have to get shots and be numb up there for hours. I would recommend his office to anyone. I took my 11 year old here today for the first time and had the best experience. The staff is so friendly and the Doctor is too as well as thorough and knowledgeable. My whole family will start going to him. The staff here makes the experience so nice.

I can't count how many times I've left a dentist office, after having spent (sometimes) thousands of dollars, wondering what just happened, why it happened, and how I can avoid a dental dilemma in the future. I always left numb and dumb. Unlike traditional dentists, Dr. Thornell takes great care to ensure his patients are adequately treated AND properly educated about their personal dental health. He invests time and attention in his patients, and that approach is both refreshing and exceedingly genuine. Only a dentist that truly cares, cares that much. As long as this man practices dentistry, our family will be his fiercely loyal customer. I would travel across the state to be treated by him. Any patient should be so lucky as to have him as their dentist. Five stars doesn't do him justice - there simply aren't enough stars to rate him.
