I highly recommend Dr. Tarnas. (This is coming from a person who had always hated doctors and never even had a primary until I was forced to find one when a hand surgeon would not do surgery on my hand until I saw my primary. I was 65 at the time) I felt why go to a doctor when you're not sick! I was so lucky to find Dr. Tarnas. He is very thorough and takes plenty of time listening and explaining. As it turned out, the hand surgeon was right that there could be things that I might not know about. Dr. Tarnas, ran lots of bloodwork and other tests ordered with the results. He explained my problem (only 2% of the population can have it) and I had referrals that led to another surgery to remedy. Dr. Tarnas is also not only thorough and cares about his patients, but also a very nice person. If you are looking for or want to switch to another primary, I would call to become a new patient. The office is also immaculate. The nurses & staff also great.

Dr. Tarnas is now serving the Pownal Campus of SVMC and has become my family physician. He is attentive, perceptive, a great listener, thorough, makes wise decisions, appreciates more natural as well as traditional medical care. He loves to teach and explains what is happening with the patient's health and every detail of treatment and takes time to document visits thoroughly so the patient or family members can review what is happening and what is needed.
