Reviews for Ravi Kant
Suffering from severe depression.. years. I was told , read they Rant accepted medicare. Unknown to me they had no one accepting medicare patients but reeled me in as if they did...medicare requires special certification for a therapist to treat medicare patients. (Thats a whole new ballgame!) They had no one but a pill pusher. C. Nice person but, but Took forever to get paperwork completed. Page after page! OMG! Run around. Recently i received a statement from medicare showing they were charged $450 for the meet n greet with C, not Rant! AND wanting more $$$. Really? Then came the pills.. prior to getting this appt i had reached out to my PCP. She prescribe meds. C increased my meds . UP THEY WENT! Not changed them! All i did was sleep. And i told C how sleepy, tired i was becoming.. I slept my winter months away. 12/15 hour a day, but he still insisted an increase! kiss my grits! DO NOT GO THERE! I quit the pills c! Shame on all of you! Im up on 2feet again... Wow its ALMOST April! I have been taken advantage of, mislead, misguided. Time taken that i can never get back !
I wouldn’t know. Insurance said would take me & my daughter- called to make an appointment. Can’t must do it online…. That right there was hard for me at the time- just wanted to make a simple call to make the appointment but they just had to make if difficult. Few months later I can finally sit and fill out not one but 2 time consuming requests- just to get an email stating not taking any new patients….. Then WHY make us fill out a new patient form! Say that at the beginning!
Terrible practice.

RUN ,WHAT A HORRIBLE DOCTOR, TERRIBLE MAN, STAFF IN NEED OF SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP ,SOME ONE NEED TO STOP THIS AWFUL DR..
I’m actually genuinely surprised at all of the bad reviews for this practice. My therapist referred me to this practice for medication management and I began seeing a woman (I can’t remember her name) but shortly after beginning to see her - she left the practice. Then I began seeing Christine Volk who is the sweetest woman and I feel she really cares about my mental health. Unfortunately, she recently left the practice which left me feeling somewhat frustrated because having to keep explaining your mental health issues over and over to new people is upsetting. My therapist tells me that this office has a high turnover rate because Dr. Kant hires people freshly out of school so they get experience and leave. The front office staff has always been extremely kind to me and makes me feel welcome in the office. Finding psychiatrist’s that accepts Medicaid is difficult, so this office is a good option. I’ve been going here for two years and it’s always been OK. But recently my usual doctor has been on maternity leave and my experience went downhill quick. It seems like most of the reviews have had the same experience with the front desk personal. She is incredibly hostile & rude. She made me cry the last time I called in to schedule an appt. This is especially concerning for a psychiatrist office. I will not be going here anymore and I suggest the same for new clients. I’ve been going here for two years and it’s always been OK. I have been seeing Dr. Kant & his associates for many years now (10+) and I have never had a terrible experience. They have helped me so much and been so kind. Please take any poor review with a grain of salt and give this office a try.
Absolutely awful. I never write reviews, but these experiences were TERRIBLE - if you struggle with mental health issues DO NOT SEEK HELP HERE. The receptionist left me frustrated and in tears twice - I've finally given up trying to schedule my appointment. I assumed the first phone call she was having a bad day, but I was met with a more rude, condescending, and unprofessional conversation the second time. Frankly, I'm not sure how someone so mean and unhelpful could have a job in a mental health facility. My therapist referred me to get an ADHD screening over a month ago. I completed all the paperwork, received an approval, and was told to call to schedule my appointment. So I did, and the receptionist was rude, and very unhelpful. She told me the doctor I was approved to see "wasn't on the schedule yet" and when I asked when to call back to schedule my appointment, she responded with "I don't know, next week." So I did, and she was even more rude and condescending this time. Didn't ask what days worked for me, and was insulted when the one date she gave me didn't work with my schedule. I asked for an appointment in a month or two, so that I could request off work - "well her schedule isn't up yet. Call back tomorrow." To which I responded with "okay thanks, have a good day!" ...she hung up before I could finish my sentence. Absolutely awful. Money hungry and very insensitive. If I could give zero stars I would!!! We were charged $80 for a less than ten minute call!
It is unfortunate that I had to call numerous times to get an appointment with a therapist. After weeks of back and forth, I was told the therapist did not have any appointments. The front desk personnel were incompetent and wasted my time.
If you have depression please don't go there they do not have the tolls or the experience to deal with it. If you have a reaction to the meds they give you they will drop you as a patient.
Worst experience I've had with a mental health provider. The front desk clerk was crass and downright insulting, prefacing everything with "not to be disrespectful" and then being disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The front office was not patient centered or care-oriented. No ownership for office errors. The office staff I had to talk for scheduling was dismissive, unprofessional and appeared to have no experience in customer relationships. I will be canceling my appointments and switching my provider.
Unprofessional would be putting it kindly. The front office staff (Kelly) was dismissive, rude, condescending and quite frankly miserable. It is unfortunate. People that are reaching out for help and are met with disregard by the discourteous and unpleasant scheduling staff. If you need to speak with your provider forget it, I was told they are not sitting around waiting for patient calls and it would be a month or longer before I was able to speak with her. I asked if I would leave a voice mail for her and was told no, I asked if I could email her and was told no. I asked if I have a question regarding medication am I able to speak to her and was told no, go to emergency room. They take patient care to new lows. It is unfortunate because I actually really liked my provider in the group. If you are seeking a caring and professional group of mental health care professionals..... look elsewhere. Absolutely unhelpful. I began seeing an associate at this firm at the suggestion of my therapist (who is phenomenal) for medication management. Even disregarding the patient intake, which was lengthy and frustrating, the logistical backend of this place is an absolute nightmare. Despite giving the firm my insurance information several times during the intake, I was billed at an "adjusted" self-pay rate of $85/visit. I mentioned this at my third and final phone appointment with the practitioner, and she told me to call the front desk after our appointment. She assured me that the staff could assist me, and that my bill would be adjusted to reflect my insurance. I did call the front desk, and explained that I needed to update my insurance information. The person I spoke to asked me no questions about my problem, and merely referred me to the website. As it turns out, the "EXISTING PATIENTS: UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION" section on the website, just redirects you to the new patient intake forms, which I will remind you, were very lengthy, and which I filled out a second time with my insurance information that was included in my initial intake forms. I received no updated bills, or any confirmation that my insurance was processed. 4 weeks later, my next tele-appointment rolls around. I get a robocall from the office confirming the time on the day before, everything is honky-dory, and then I never get a call from my practitioner. Perhaps because I had an outstanding balance (because I wasn't going to pay for self-pay when I have insurance FOR WHICH I GAVE THEM THE INFORMATION). I have received zero communication from NeuroPsychiatry Center since. I got one more refill of my SSRI after that, which I have now been without for over a week. In order to request a refill, I must provide my next appointment date. I cannot schedule a new appointment (at least not at this hour of 1:30am, the only time I'm available to do so during a weekday without calling out of work). My 4th appointment was missed by my practitioner, with no follow-up, no check-in. For all they know, I could be dead right now, and they just do not care. I am livid. I am suffering without my medication (which was working excellently for me). I have been irritable, on edge, and pessimistic at work without it, to the point that I had to pull my boss aside in the middle of my shift today to plead with her to understand that I was not myself today, and that if I did something stupid, it's because I'm without the medication I still need just to maintain a baseline of function. I just payed my $225 bill (for one 20-minute Skype call, and 2 10-minute phone calls) on the internet so at least I can go try another practice without worrying about my credit score going bad because of this wretched place. I will say that the medication that was prescribed to me was effective, and I will be looking for another doctor to prescribe it to me in the next few days here. The practitioner herself was helpful, attentive, and responded very quickly when I was having a bad reaction to the first medication we tried, and got me a prescription for the one I've been on since within a day of me contacting her about the side-effects. I am genuinely upset that I will no longer be able to see her because of how incompetent, perhaps even fraudulent, the practice she works for happens to be. Perhaps that makes up for the fact that I can't give this place 0/5 stars. I could not, in good conscience, recommend this practice to someone, especially not someone who is already struggling with mental health issues like depression and executive dysfunction, like I do. The front-end staff is not there to help you, the website is there to confuse you, and you may very well end up paying for your care out-of-pocket like I did for no other reason than a clerical failure on the part of this criminally apathetic practice. I’ve been with this practice for more than 2 yrs. I found a home. The staff is amazing. Doctor Beth is very attentive. My therapist ,Judy has been a lifesaver. My daughter has been with them for like 10 yrs and I’m grateful when I needed someone she suggested this office.
Terrible rude office staff ... They make one feel like they are doing you a favor ... Arrived 10 minuulate and we had to leave they refused to see us!
I would give this office a zero if I could. This Dr wanted to put me on antidepressants even after a 7 year history of antidepressants working on the opposite affect on me. The staff lied and said they had the wrong number when I had showed up to an appointment. Do not go here. I think the ratings speak for themselves. Dr. Kant, is stressed out and very unempathetic. He will perscribe you drugs but seems to have little patience for his patients (no pun intended) He hired more doctors in his office which i thought was a good idea considering he seemed to be swamped and rushing people out the door but the woman he hired is just as rude. ( I don't even know her name that's how close we are ) She doesn't put in refills to your pharmacy and you have to end up calling the pharmacy yourself and having them contact her. She's rolled her eyes at me about 5 times in our short time together. She doesn't ask me important questions and reflects rather on irrelevant things. And seems almost equally as stressed out as Dr. Kant. I have a sense of humor and have had to step up and be in charge of my own psychiatric health. I'm going through a horrible health issue right now on top of it that doesn't help. I miss the days when i had COMPASSIONATE Doctors who listened and encouraged and were attentive enough not to treat you like a lab rat. I saw a nurse practitioner at this office and she was horrible. She was very biased based on my medical history and would completely ignore my contributions to the conversation. When I told her I wasn't comfortable with her first treatment recommendation she just shut down. She refused to offer any other treatments and basically asked me to leave. A medical professional I knew personally suggested I get evaluated at this office, so I went in to talk about it and see what they said. My friend goes to this office and has no complaints. The MSN CRNP I saw went through my history and was completely dismissive to anything I said. I felt treated like a drug addict when I just want to figure out what's going on. They didn't clarify anything and we didn't even talk about the concerns I came in for. I paid the specialist copay just to make another appointment where I have to pay another copay AND pay a $200 out of pocket fee to take a test. What was the point of the first appointment if they didn't even do an actual evaluation? Had an emotional break down immediately after due to the dismissive attitude of who I saw. Maybe if you know who to go to here they can be a great help, but otherwise don't waste your time or money. I had no issues with the office staff; they were friendly. Here’s the deal: I had one of their psychiatrists for around 4 years, in which I had to 1. prove I needed something besides an antidepressant 2. up my own dosage: (he would say “well what do you want to do” and I had to guess what would work) He constantly forgot the medications I had bad reactions to, mixed my file up with my sister’s, failed to have my blood tested on medications that demanded it, and caused me to lose academic accommodations at my college. His incompetence (mostly during the time that I was a MINOR) worsened my conditions and was never rectified before he left the practice. The redeeming factor is that the new psychiatrist I have at the practice is amazing. She clearly cares about me as a person and considers my thoughts on how I’m feeling, but makes actual decisions about what medications I should be on. That’s why there’s two stars here and not one. Dr.Kant has been my doctor since I was 14 years old and if it weren’t for him I’m not sure I’d still be around. He listens but you have to too!
I was nervous because it was first time visiting this office but the office staff was very nice and helped me fill out the forms. The wait time was only a few minutes and Dr. Kant was wonderful and had a nicely decorated office with many plants. He was understanding and cracked some jokes that made me feel more comfortable. Very rude staff and doctor. Incredibly short and seem to not care in the slightest about how you are doing. I spend infinitely more time waiting to meet with the doctor than I actually spend in the appointment.
Dr. Kant has consistently responded to my needs with care, and he has been generous with his time.
Dr. Kant and Rachel have been nothing but helpful and encouraging. I see several reviews that state that they were not helpful. From experience, they are honest in saying that they can't help you if you don't help yourself during the process. Medicine alone will not solve your problems. I have been seeing them both for the past 2 years and I truly feel the impact they have had on my life. My future is better because of the work we do together. I would encourage anyone to come here who really wants help to feel better and is willing to work hard for it!!

THIS OFFICE IS LUCKY THAT I AM MEDICATED BECAUSE IF I WASNT I WOULD BE IN JAIL FOR HOW THEY TREATED ME!
If you have a mental health diagnosis, depression or any other illness that needs to be treated carefully...then I would HIGHLY recommend you NOT attending this office. They are extremely unprofessional, they will violate HIPAA laws while they will talk badly about you and your personal information as you are waiting for your appointment...loud enough for the entire office waiting room to hear. The staff will look down on you, stare at you and treat you AS IF you do NOT have a mental and/or other illness. They will take your money and not help you AT ALL. Nonetheless, they will cut you from your medication like its nothing and will treat you like you are nothing as well. 0 STARS for Ravi Kant MD. Zero compassion. Zero effort for patient with depression. $130 bill for a 3-minute 'I can't help you' appointment. Ravi Kant MD spent less than 1 minute looking through the stack of paperwork that I brought to my appointment (detailing my history of major depression & the medications I tried), then he looked at me and said 'You tried a lot of medicines. I can't help you.' I was shocked not only by the fact that he made his assessment from 50 seconds of skimming my forms, but also by the fact that he did not ask me a single question. When I started crying and asked him if he thought my depression was untreatable, he became agitated and asked ME - the patient - 'What do you want me to do? You took several antidepressants. Maybe you should call Western Psych.' If you suffer from depression, AVOID Dr. Ravi Kant and his practice. Dr. Kant and his front-office staff are unbelievably rude, especially when you consider the fact that this is a psychiatry office and the patients can be in a fragile state. Based on how Dr. Kant spoke to me, and the fact that he did not carefully review my paperwork or ask me any questions before showing me the door, I don't know how this doctor is still allowed to practice medicine. I left Dr. Kant's office sobbing and had to sit in my car in the parking lot for 30 minutes before I could even drive. I'm a pretty strong person, but I think if I wasn't so strong, Dr. Ravi Kant's cold, unprofessional treatment of me would have made me consider harming myself. If you or a loved one are considering making an appointment with Ravi Kant MD, do not do it. He clearly is not careful in assessing patients - and they will likely leave his office feeling worse than they felt when they walked in. 0 STARS for Ravi Kant MD. Zero compassion. I have to be fair because he is my doctor... and i believe he does have a soul. I am italian so i appreciate a NO BS approach. People with anxiety often say it is annoying when people tell you to just "calm down". When a doctor says it, the cliche is almost taken to an even bigger extreme. Doctors are people too & they get stressed out but they should not take that out on a patient. A lack of compassion and understanding for patients is and should be a big no no in the field of mental health & the medical field in general. The practice is a bit flighty, often times you have to wait up to a half an hour to see the doctor, which is fine. Because you can usually book an appointment at any time you would like. Psychiatric doctors offices routinely get bad ratings due to waiting times etc. The first few visits with Ravi I did not have to wait long and were professional. After meeting with Ravi for the first few months I was assigned under a physicians assistant afterwards named Mark Freeman. I schedule my appointments first thing in the morning and I am In and out in 20 minutes. All the staff is always friendly and helpful. Mark is extremely friendly and personable to talk with as well. I can also relate with him very well. Just remember when going to the psychiatrists office that if you come in to the office in a bad mood, the receptionists will not be thrilled to see you. I was seeing a great Psychologist in McMurray, Pa for problems with depression after suffering a Traumatic Brain Injury. My Psychologist wanted me to see Dr. Kant because she was afraid that I might need to be on medication. I arrived 45 minutes before my appointment but Dr. Kant was almost 30 mintues late. When he saw me he was very rude and asked why I was seeing him. He ended up writing a Rx for Effexor and then dismissed me. I threw the script in the bushes on my out. Terrible Doctor.

The WORST staff of any doctor's office I have ever been to - rude and very unhelpful. Dr. Kant is a great doctor, and has been a great help to me over the past couple of years. However, the women who book appointments/help patients are short and often mean to patients.
While Dr. Kant himself is a wonderful doctor, his staff is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I've been seeing Dr. Kant for about a year now, and am always taken aback how short they are with me, and how unreliable they are in terms of helping with prescription complications.

Dr Kant helped me by listening to my issues, talking out his plan of action and having me and my physician give input, and adjusting the game plan as needed. I highly recommend him. Oh, and BTW, the long waits were mostly due to inconsiderate patients who arrive late or just walk in and expected to be squeezed in.

the website sucked threw and threw. it did not work im extremely disappointed. when having a touch day the last thing you should have to deal with is a faulty website.
Not at all impressed with them. I have depression and only can do evening appointments and there is no flexibility for a new patient? I have a job just can't leave to FIT your schedules. Great way to help a person with depression out. Go somewhere else.
On a friend's recommendation I went here a month ago for an initial assessment with Jessica Torick.. That experience was great and made me more comfortable than I ever felt during my four year at Mercy Behavioral Health. Unfortunately I had to wait a month to schedule my follow-up appointment, but I had no problem waiting because I was told that I would get the medication I needed.....what a lie that was. I went back to my 11:30 appointment yesterday and Kristen Graziano finally ended up seeing me at 12:30. No apology, nothing. Just, sometimes our sessions run long. An hour late when I'm supposed to be at work. I guess that's okay though. Kristen was blunt and to the point when she told me they would not be prescribing me benzos, as I was told previously, and that the only thing they could prescribe me was Vistiral, which I've already been prescribed at Mercy and never worked for me. She just told me I had to be a little patient. I guess waiting a month to come back wasn't patient enough. In a nutshell, the attitude I received from Kristen, who apparently was taking her bad experience with the previous client out on me, led me to walk out and thank her for wasting my time. I had high hopes for this place due to the courtesy of the receptionists and Jessica who did my intake last month, but I will not be coming back. Someone as unprofessional as Kristen should not be employed at a place as this, especially if she's not going to help people as promises. I'll be sticking with Mercy. My son was seeing Dr. Kant for ADHD and other issues. I wasn't too impressed with Dr. Kant's office but my choices of providers were limited due to insurance. There were long wait times, sometimes an hour past appointment time, rude staff, and Dr. Kant barely spent 3 minutes w/my son per visit. I tolerated that. Then there was an emergency situation that required an immediate call back, I called in 3 days in a row begging to get a call back. Didn't get a call back but did get an email discharging my son from his care due to my attitude with his secretary after being told "I gave him the messages what else do you want from me? I have other things to do!" Nice way to treat a client who crying on the phone trying to resolve an emergency situation concerning her son! Glad they discharged my son from their care! It saved me the hassle of firing them! What sane person would ever take their child back there after that!!! My son was seeing Dr. Kant for ADHD and other issues. I don't know how these other people have had these experiences. Mine have been nothing short of wonderful. I was going through a rough patch and have anxiety, panic and depression after 6 years of coping (with a history of chronic migraine headaches). Long story short, after I passed out after a blood draw and went into a panic attack, Dr. Kant saw me the same day and really helped me. I requested to see him every week, and he was perfectly fine with that, he spends an adequate amount of time with me, anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Scheduling is flexible. Office staff is nice. I love my neuropsychiatrist and wouldn't go anywhere else, I've even referred other people in my life that have similar conditions to him. He's wonderful. Dr. Kant was the first doctor to look at my symtoms as the separate issues that they truly are, instead of lumping them together into messy, cluster of a diagnosis. His humorous, but very caring and knowledgeable demeanor makes him very easy to confide in and provide all the details of my conditions. For the first time in my life, my emotions and thoughts are controlled and calm- without being sedated. I do see another therapist twice a month for cognitive therapy which also helps.
