It is amazing to have the pleasure of working with Dr. Tortland and his staff. I have been working with him for over 2 years now. He has done wonders for my back pain and has found a method for relief that does not include surgery. He is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to teach me on the process as well as the cause and effect of my pain. Great listener, my favorite doctor ever! His innovative regenerative orthopedic medicine treatment protocols have restored strength and stability to my back ligaments, tendons and facet capsules. I had severe osteoarthritic degeneration of my facet joints, quadratus lumborum tendon strains, and an iliolumbar ligament strain, all related to spinal scoliosis from a leg length inequality. Last 2 years, at age 70 plus, I've been able to do an amazing amount of hard work on our cottage in Maine and on a wooden sailboat. He's helped me to enjoy the active retirement I wanted to have. I WAS DIAGNOSIED WITH OSTEOARTHRITIS IN BOTH SHOULDERS. I HAD LIMITED RANGE OF MOTION AND PAIN TO THE EXTENT THAT I COULD NOT BRING MY ARMS AROUND MY NECK OR WASH UNDER MY ARMS. DRESSING WAS A PROBLEM WHEN LOOPING A BELT ABOUND MY PANTS OR PULING A SHIRT OVER MY HEAD OR REACHING OVER MY SHOULDERS. SLEEPING WAS PROBLEMATIC SINCE I WOULD WAKE UP DUE TO PAIN. I TRIED INJECTIONS AND PRECRIPTION ANTI INFLAMMATORY MEDICATION WHICH PROVIDE LIMITED TEMPORARY RELIEF. I HAD THREE SEPARATE ORTHOPEDIC OPINIONS. . ALL REQUIRED GENERAL ANESTHESIA, SURGERY 6 MONTHS TO ONE YEAR RECOVERY FOR EACH SHOULDER WITH RISKS, 2 YEARS OUT OF MY LIFE. I OPTED FOR STEM CELL THERAPY SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR BOTH SHOULDERS WITH DR. It takes forever to see Dr. Tortland (my wait was 4 mos. 8/21-it may be even longer now) but it is so worth the wait! Dr. Tortland immediately put me at ease, going straight to my neck and asking about what hurt and what didn’t before looking at the radiology reports-just the opposite of every other specialist I had been to. He explained every action as well, saying he wanted to know exactly what bothered ME, not what a third person had to report, which turned out to be extremely beneficial in my case. Although my radiology reports indicated worsening DDD, he told me my pain had nothing to do with that! That’s what I had been saying all along, but no one would listen to me… now he was explaining how that could be after I had already given up asking how a chronic condition could lead from an extended period without pain to the most excruciating pain of my life in 1 day… He had the answers! Prolotherapy brought me tremendous relief;staff is awesome;equipment top notch; clean offices;HR!

Everyone in the immaculate office was pleasant and most concerned about my comfort level. Both doctor and staff knowledgeably explained the process. Dr.Tortland listened to my concerns with patience was able to pinpoint my problem area and treat it quickly and efficiently with minimal pain. Such sensitivity and empathy is rare these days and most appreciated.

Doctor took the time to answer all my exercise-related questions, and offer advice with respect to cardio vs weight lifting.

Dr Tortland is the BEST! I am a long time patient with various tears over the years, and he always helped and fixed me up. I have seen several physicians for my injury and by far this was my best experience. From the friendliness of the staff when I set my appointment all the way through the follow up - I could not ask for anymore. Great my over one year Achilles tendinitis is being resolved with a simple shock wave therapy treatment.

Dr. Tortland is passionate about his field and cares about the integrity with which he and his colleagues carry out their work. I have seen Dr Tortland for a treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain and foot/ankle pain. he has always taken the time to listen to my concerns and address them appropriately. I have had great outcomes with all his treatments.

Dr. Tortland and his staff are extraordinarily professional and extremely skilled. I am very grateful to have them "on my medical team" as I prepare for a fall marathon! I would highly recommend their services.

*** Update*** I did receive a call back from the office and they scheduled me to come in the following week for my second PRP shot. I met Dr. Tortland he was professional and spent time with me discussing my condition and options if this shot did not work. He assured me that he will work with me to find other avenues to help relieve my pain. Not sure if this will work for me, but this is the experience I was initially hoping for. Happy with my experience here. Highly Disappointed I had my initial appts with Dr. Lavallee and he was wonderful - thorough, patient and very informative. I had my first PRP shot on 8/18 and was told to follow up in about 4 weeks to schedule a second. I called at the end of September and was told Dr. Lavallee was no longer with the practice as of the end of August. Why wasn't I made aware of that before I called to follow up? I was then told that I would have to come in for another initial appt with Dr. Tortland before my second PRP shot, I would be charged for this appointment and that Dr. Tortland wasn't available until December! I explained to the scheduler that I wasn't happy with the additional appt./cost nor with the time delay in getting a second shot. As his favorite middle child, I can attest that Dr. Tortland is the most knowledgeable and caring doctor you'll find. He enjoys long walks on the beach, protein shakes, and Jason Statham movies. Bonus points if you mention workout routines and Baby Yoda!

We had a telehealth visit today. We were informed ahead of time, by phone, that Dr Tortland was running behind so our wait time was greatly decreased. Once our meeting started, this was our first visit, I knew he had looked over all of the information we sent and knew the history of the injury. What a relief! Dr. Tortland is always spot on about where the pain is coming from, AND he knows how to address it. I heard scary things about my medial cluneal nerve pain: "You need a spinal cord stimulator," and "You just have to accept you will be in pain for the rest of your life. Here take this ketamine." The two docs who told me those things NEVER EVEN TOUCHED ME. Then I saw Dr. Tortland (who, I might add, also fixed my shoulder in 201, which was a godsend) He listened to me, did an exam, ran through the plan, and it was the first logical thing I had heard in three years. Dr. Tortland is one of the best doctors I have been to for my ligament, tendon, and structural issues. For many years I was in very severe pain from a significant leg length discrepancy that damaged my ligaments and tendons for various joints. I had received chronic heel injections of steroids with limited relief and pain returning 3 months after the injections. Dr Tortland took far more time to investigate my root cause and address my healing. We have a treatment plan and are working toward a goal of my pain going away without steroids or surgery. Dr. Tortland has provided my (RN) wife and me with thoughtful, efficient and successful care over more than 8 years. His diagnostic and communication skills sets, for us, a standard that we appreciate; we respect the fact that his encounters with us always provide a thoughtful friendly understanding and explanation, and he does not hesitate to go outside the box. and explain all options and possibilities. No doctor jargon! We have each received his PRP, Prolotherpy, Cortisone, nerve blocks and Stem Cell treatments, all with great relief. I have been shocked to hear from friends that some docs actually endeavor various injection therapies (even just Cortisone and even PRP) without ultrasound guidance! I feel that we have never "been on the clock" with him, either for evaluation, diagnosis or treatment. Finally, when you go to see Dr. Tortland, you see Paul Tortland and not an associate or junior provider. He is "the man."

Dr Tortland is wonderful, but I would really like to see more advice about what to do both pre and post the procedure. I can ask verbally, either at the appointment or by phone, but how much more helpful it would be to have something written, something I can refer to after I have forgotten the details which I heard in the office. I have looked up other doctors' websites and see what I'm looking for, but the advice differs from one to another. What is Dr. Tortland's opinion? I think I know, but if I had something written out, it would have been very helpful.

I have had 3 different treatments from Dr Tortland. He is an amaing man and a wonderful doctor. I am 68 years old. He is the best doctor i have ever met. Smart, kind, patient and extremely knowledgable. I visited his office yesterday when I arrived I had difficulty walking. I had stiffness and pain in both knees. After treatment I rose from the table pain free. Truly mamzing!

I have gone to Dr. Tortland for quite a few years. He has treated me for various injuries and ailments over the years and he is the only doctor I will trust with injections. He always uses the ultrasound for accurate evaluation and needle placement.

The arthritis in my knee was keeping me from doing any of the activities I enjoyed doing. After not having success with a cortisone injection and over 2 months of physical therapy, I visited Dr. Tortland. At my initial consultation, he spent a lot of time with me to understand my issues and discuss treatment options. After a stem cell procedure and a few subsequent treatments offered at his clinic, my knee feels great. I now have no limitations with any physical activities, including running and jumping. Dr. Tortland truly cares about his patients, and the results of his work are amazing.
