Dr. Paul Hunter Cloninger

The staff is very kind, The dentist however very rude. I’m not sure if the woman’s name but she had zero patience with my 11 year old daughter that came in crying due to anxiety about having a needle put in her mouth so she could get fillings done. She came in the room with an attitude telling my child crying isn’t going to get her out of it. Which my daughter knew. She was only expressing her anxiety myself and the assistant took out time to talk to my daughter and was getting her to calm down. While the dentist was very short and Said well if she doesn’t stop I will. I told her my daughter would be fine she just needed some reassurance and time. And of course I was right. She became more friendly at the end but I don’t believe we will be back.

Went to have a tooth checked that felt different. I actually had a broken tooth. Dr. Hammer did the repair without having to schedule another appointment. The staff are so friendly and Dr. Hammer was awesome!! Everyone seemed to enjoy their job. I could hear them talking and laughing. A "feel good"environment in the dreaded dentist office!

Shelby and Paul’s uncle were absolutely amazing. So easy to talk too and funny. They definitely eased and enlightened a difficult situation for me! Thanks you two! I’d love to see more of the uncle for sure!

I am a patient here at the clinic! From the time you walk in the office. They have the most friendliest receptionist. The ladies in the office are exceptionally professional and the doctor is extremely knowledgeable and cares for his patients thank goodness this small town has a team of professionals that the community can count for a great smile!

So glad I allowed Dr. Robert Cloninger to pull my #29 tooth...no pain, very quick as well! Robert is Dr. Paul Cloninger's uncle and has been known locally as "THE BEST DR TO PULL TEETH"! ALL ABOUT THE MONEY I've only seen 6 dentist my entire life including Dr. Cloniger, after several years under his care I started to notice a few things that didn't add up. When he sent me to his other practice that's when everything changed; II thought it was odd as he was always the only person who worked on my teeth however I'm not a dentist so I listened. They were recent dental graduates. Within 2 days I knew something was wrong, it hurt worst then it did before I went to fix it. I was told that the other dentist took out too much filling so now my tooth needed to be pulled! This would've made the 5th time this happened? I began to express my disbelief in the situation and was told I could no longer be a patient at his practice only because I asked questions? Unforgivable and Unbelievable!! I went from all my teeth to debating dentures! The worst part is that if I had the cash on hand he said it could be fixed, but since I had insurance it was cheaper to just pull the tooth out! I have never in my life been treated this way at a dentist office. I moved to NC about a year ago and this is the first dentist I went since To I finally had the money to fix my cavities and what not. Let’s just say I left in tears. Bawling. He treated me like a was a nobody and like I couldn’t afford to pay for anything he needed to do. I even told him I had bad experiences in the past with dentists and how embarrassed I was about my teeth. He still judged me and made sure I knew it. Dr Cloninger has no bedside manner. He didn't even speak the entire time he was in my room. I will be finding a new dentist. The rest of the staff are very caring and sweet. I have never had any health care where my provider acted like a douchebag. FACTS

The staff here is outstanding and friendly. Everyone made me and my two small children feel very welcome from the beginning to the end of our visit. The part that I find very difficult to stomach is the fact that the "comprehensive dental evaluation" that cost me $84 per child consisted of Dr. Cloninger being in the room for less that 30 seconds for each child and then rushing off. I paid $168 for less that 2 minutes of this mans time. This is unacceptable and no way to treat people. I wasnt asked if I had any questions or concerns, nothing. So for my consultation appointment everything went great! I had ZERO wait time, they saw me the same day I called them. The hygienist was very kind and respectable. The dentist that was in the office (not Dr Cloninger) was very kind and respectable as well. They were straight forward with me about everything, gave me prices up front, and I can't stress this enough they were very kind! The rooms all have TV's in them that pick up a mind blowing amount of channels for regular TV (I want one of those antennas). The environment is very cozy and clean. I would recommend these folks to anyone from what I've saw so far. I have an appointment to have my work done set up for a later date. I will update my review more in depth after I get my work done. Good at extracting teeth, but their better at extracting hundreds of dollars out of your pocket for outrageous cost. 5 teeth extracted costed me $1200.00 that was WITH INSURANCE. Find another dentist

Besides his seemingly careless bedside manner, he lacks honesty. I told him I needed to be knocked out, all 10 remaining upper teeth pulled and replaced with a denture. He said, and I quote, "We can do that". Upon returning for the impression to be done for the denture, I reiterated the supposed fact that I would not be awake for the upcoming procedure. It was then that I was informed that I would be given a pill, much like a valium, to ease any anxiety I may experience during the procedure. When I said that I felt I had been lied to about not being awake for the extraction of the 10 teeth, I was dismissed from the office, being told I was simply not a "good fit" for him and the care I required. Most people have an inherent fear of the dentist. He is certainly not helping that perception. If you need some compassion in your dentist, this is certainly NOT the dentist to go to. I can't recommend this office. The staff is very nice and made me feel welcome but the dentist didn't care about me or my painful tooth when I told him I couldn't afford an expensive procedure. This was after going there for over a year and spending a lot of money on previous work. He has a very "take it or leave it" attitude towards his patients. Edit to add: I went to another dentist and they filled the painful tooth with no issues. I am glad I went somewhere else! I can't recommend this office. Highly recommend this practice! Everyone from check in to check out was Awesome! I was treated with dignity and respect and Dr. Paul was excellent, good chair side manner and great sense of humor! First time in my life that I enjoyed a dental visit...????

Scheduled a routine cleaning with Dr. Cloninger. I haven’t had a cleaning since 2016 since I was in the military and have never had dental work except to have my wisdom teeth pulled (I was put to sleep for that in boot camp). They cleaned my teeth then stated they needed to have the Dr. to come in to check a few things. He stated that the black dots on my teeth that I have had since I was a kid were cavities and that they were going to get worse. They were upfront with the price and had no problem with it. My insurance will cover it. I asked if we could do the fillings today and he said if I had time he would have no problem with it. Keep in mind I have a issue with needles (I’m in paramedic school but scared of needles. Go figure). All the said was “trust me. I promise I’m not going to hurt you.” Even the assistant held my hand. I DIDNT FEEL A THING! I highly recommend this dentist. Yes, his bedside manner is very matter-of-fact but that’s okay. I actually appreciate that about his practice. I have not met a health care provider with such a poor bedside manner in all of my life. If you need compassion- go somewhere else.

Medical professionals need to be sensitive to patient's needs and fears. Throwing a tissue at someone that you made cry is not the way a dentist or decent human treats others.

Dr. Cloninger has a very poor bedside manner. He told me bluntly that I was untruthful about a problem with a front tooth. He repaired the tooth but I can say it.is the worst dental work I have ever had. A friend of mine also went there and was told " Well I didn't tell you to let your teeth get cavities".

Great experience! The whole staff is friendly and very good at their job. Dr. Cloninger was thorough with his explanations, and suggested options, and made sure I was completely comfortable the whole time. I would highly recommend this wonderful group to anyone!

My family and I have never had anything but positive experiences with Dr Cloninger and his staff. He is honest and does great work. Even my kids enjoy their dental visits.

Best Dentist I have found. I feel great after I leave. I used to have to recover after dental work but not with him. I can chew as soon as the numbing wears off.

ON MARCH 22 2016 I WENT TO YOUR OFFICE TO SEEK DENTURES THROUGH MEDICAD AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR RECEPTIONIST WHOSE FIRST NAME IS TONYA AND IT WAS SO UN BEARABLE ON HER RESPONSE TO ME. SHE KEPT SAYING SHE WASNT GOING TO CALL A NUMBER OR EVEN GET IN TOUCH WITH WHAT MY WORKER AT HUMAN RESOURCES MEDICAD OFFICE TOLD ME TO TAKE TO YOUR OFFICE.
