Very quick to medicate. No other avenues were explored.

Its been a few years but now I can finally say this calmly. I was one of Dr.Brars patients years ago. He prescribed me Sarafem for my anxiety and depression. I was also refered to a therapist. I had 2-3 sessions with her and ultimately ended it. She had a knack for telling me her war stories about other depressing patients. I found out later that my depression is hormone based and my anxiety will probably never go away but im learning to deal with it. My time with Brar made me feel like my problems werent serious and that I (a 16 year old kid) was just wasting his time. I felt that way until I met my boyfriend and discovered he was prescribed Abilify for his depression. He was 14 at the time. He was 2 years clean from self harm but after Abilify he was right back to him. He claims that after quitting Abilify he felt like he was on top of the world all day every day! So, overall I hope Brar gets a medical malpractice lawsuit from someone braver than me. Strongly would reccomend you dont visit him. Its been a few years but now I can finally say this calmly. This is my first and probably only review I’ve left, but seeing how his reviews were and that they made me hesitant prior to our meeting I just had to share this positive review. Dr. Brar was an amazing listener, very attentive to detail as I was describing the issues I was observing in my 4 year old. He was able to identify and categorize what was going on very efficiently, and I appreciate even more that he gave a thorough explanation as to what the issues were, how they can feel for my daughter experiencing them, and provided me next steps and options to best treat her. Run! This guy has you fill out a packet of paperwork that he does not review. My sons appointment was at 2 and wasn't seen until 4:30. He didn't even spend 5 minutes with him and was prescribing meds

Still assessing his clinical competence but I can review his professionalism at this point. It’s severely lacking. Wait time is at least an hour every time. When questioned, the excuse is always an “emergency” - that’s the default answer. He gets away with it because of the lack of psych providers in the Valley. If he was in a more competitive market his bottom line would suffer. Bottom line: he’s got a professional job but conducts it unprofessionally. Always willing to help and go above and beyond to help his patients.

It takes a while to get your first appointment, but he is a kind caring man. The wait time was about 15 minutes after check in.

My son has been seeing Dr. Brar for several years. He has been wonderful! He demonstrates concern, caring and kindness. There are very few child psychiatrists in Fresno. He is the best!

Dr. Brar is knowledgeable, well trained, and up to date on psychiatric issues. He has been an immense help to my son and we are very grateful to him. About waiting times...he's worth waiting for. By the way, most of my other doctors have erratic wait times too, This is because they spend as much time as each patient requires, instead of worrying about the time. My son has ADHD/mood disorder and has been seeing Dr. Brar for 5 years. During this time, Dr. Brar has helped us find the right medications to help manage his behaviors and experience success in school. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, and patient and we are grateful to him for all he has done for our son.

Don't waste your time, much better doctors out there!!

I’m appt was at 9:00 am and I waited and waited and I’m still waiting at 10:00. Excuse he hade emergencies. So, our problems are not important unless it’s an emergency. This is a therapist office, not brain surgery! I’ve worked in surgery for 20 yeas and I know real emergencies. Update: waste of time. He doesn’t do therapy, he just fill scripts that he thinks you need. I’m appt was at 9:00 am and I waited and waited and I’m still waiting at 10:00. Excuse he hade emergencies. Waiting times are no longer much of an issue. The doctor is caring and supportive.

Wait times are *always* over 45 minutes. Dr Brar and his staff consistently have attitudes, as well. I have found a new psychiatrist because I started getting anxiety and knew half my day would be wasted by coming here.

If stature is a measure of empathy and compassion, Dr. Brar reaches the top levels in comparison to other Psychiatrists in the Fresno/Clovis area. With gentle eyes and curious ears, great care is taken to understand the complexities of one’s mental health status. Treatment options are explored according to patient preferences and needs, explained so that understanding is gained, and supported over time through diligence and genuine concern. I would gladly refer family an friends.

I would give no stars if it let me...tthe girl that answers the phone is very rude...Annmarie u shouldn't be working their if u dont like ur job ur very rude to patients and when ur on the phone with patients u down grade ppl...if u dont like what u do find a new job or career ..ur making the place look really bad..therefor i will not take my brother here or recomemnd this place to friends or family... I would not reccommend this office whatsoever. I had been seeing him for a few years so he was well aware of my condition. I was being treated for depression and anxiety, mainly depression. He tackled that quickly (and I appreciate that) and once that was under control my anxiety became more severe and the center of focus. I was sent in for an OCD lab test with another doctor and was instead told I had Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Not knowing my anxiety was that severe I brought it to Dr. Brar's attention and his response was that he felt I was fine and that he didn't want to have to change my medications around again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I HAVE MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PLACE. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW FROM ONE OR TWO VISITS BUT MANY YEARS OF OVER 24 VISITS. I AM AT FALUT FOR STAYING THIS LONG BUT I NEEDED THE HELP. BUT IN THE END THEY DIDN'T HELP MY FAMILY BUT COULD HAVE CAUSE SOME SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS FOR MY CHILD. Dr. Brar and his assistant Francis are just terrible people. The whole office staff have pretty much the same bad attitude. I have been going to him for 3 years. I've hated going there for a long time now. It wasn't until recently I found a new Dr. that will now see my child. My child was having some complications that were not taken seriously because all Dr. Brar and Francis want to do is talk over you and not listen to the issue you present. They only spend 15 minutes while i waited in the office for as long as 1 hour and a half waiting to be seen. My child was having a bad reaction to medication which i had brought to their attention for months. When I tried to explain they dismissed my claims until i brought the issue to another doctor. The Dr. changed his medication and the problems were gone. when i tried to confront Dr. brat he told me i never told him my child was having a negative reaction to the medication. this was before he took the time to look at his computer notes to realize that I indeed had been telling both Dr. Brar and Francis about the medication reaction my child was experiencing. I have another family member seeing Dr. Brar and they told me they too were being treated as morons to their own child's problems and mental illness. Francis is also so terrible. that woman is strange to begin with and she can barely understand what she is even saying. She seems so confused most of the time. I am glad my time with this doctor, assistant, and the RUDE office staff. JUST A REMINDER TO ALL OF YOU AT THAT OFFICE..... WE PAY YOU... WE PAY YOU A LOT OF MONEY TO BE TREATED RIGHT. Dr. Brar is a very cautious prescriber and a thorough physician. When you're dealing with people's brain chemistry, you don't want to rush patients in and out like an assembly line. Sometimes there is little to be discussed and the appointments are quick. Other times they go overtime. So expect to wait for your appointment, but think of the wait time as insurance against a hasty doctor more concerned with fast processing of patients than with good outcomes. Thanks to their lack of response, my 5 year old has been suspended twice for behavior issues. We tried making an apt and when we got there were told the insurance is not good. My child has medical, I verified it is good. I tried calling back to reschedule and got NO return calls. My child needs help but NOT from these people!!!!!!!!

Find someone else in another area. Their waiting room takes about an hour or more worth of waiting, even when there is no one there. He isn't good at listening to concerns and naturally sounds harsh all the time. He never wants to go forward with an official diagnosis too. My daughter has had mental health problems since she was a young child. Over the years she has seen several doctors, none of whom could correctly diagnose and treat her. As an adult she was becoming estranged from the entire family and was extremely unhappy in her life. When she finally found Dr. Brar, his treatment miraculously turned everything around. She's now happy and interacts well with everyone. The whole family is grateful.
