I feel that He did not comply with good medical practices: he never touch me to check my he medical illness which cause harm to his patient. Did not know how to properly charge the referred medical authorization. He did not provide a good referral . He believed his very young outtake clerk instead of talking to his patient. He caused damages to his patient by not providing medications as required by another govt doctor. I couldn't recommend him to anyone else. Dr. McFarland and staff are always friendly. I needed a referral for an ENT doctor and it was by far the fastest referral I've ever gotten. It's been smooth and enjoyable having Dr. McFarland and his staff take care of my medical needs. Thanks Dr. McFarland and staff.

This guy is my primary care provider. Always been decent and fair with me. Thankfully it has been almost 2 years since my last visit. Fast forward to today. I will never step into this office ever again. There is the Hypocratic Oath these medical professionals take. This guy is off his rocker. He has an electronic message board in front of his practice and over the last 18 months and I have noticed some sort of political hysteria fomenting here. The other day did it for me. When the message board states Texas Governor Greg Abbott and lies saying he denied flu and Covid vaccines for all! That is misinformation. He stands for your individual right to make your own decisions regarding medical treatments. It is not up to government to force medical treatments. 2. The big one for me is: The sign saying: "If You Are Going To Vote For The Wrong Person, Please Don't Get The VACCINE" Can you imagine? This from a so called doctor? Dr. Mcfarland is the most caring and knowledgeable doctor I’ve ever been to. There has been times I’ve been sick and was going to other doctors and couldn’t get in. But with Dr. Mcfarland you can be seen as a walk-in Between nine and 11 Monday through Thursday. (I think) No one does that anymore. I highly recommend him as your family doctor. Front desk refused to see my husband as a walk in even though he is a long standing patient and they have a large lit sign outside that walkins are always welcome. It was 1125am the parking lot empty and lobby was empty. They refused to see him because it would interfere without lunch which started 35 minutes later. So, instead they left him in pain and told him to come back later or make an appointment instead of taking care if him which would not have interfered with them spending an hour and a half stuffing their face. They are supposed to be in the business of taking care of people. Too bad the only one in that office doing that is Dr. Mike. Don't complain like I did above or you will be fired as a patient like I did by the supposed Christian staff , as well as my husband. Not even sure Dr. Mike knew??? I wish there was negative stars not because McFarland, he is a great guy. The lady at the front desk on the other hand is absolutely rude. Become of this lady I’ll be changing doctors!

I have seen Dr. McFarland in and off for years and recently referred my family member to him. As per usual, we were very pleased with the physician. Unfortunately, we will not return to see him due to the rudeness and incompetence of his staff. We have been waiting for results of a MRI for a possibly life threatening issue. It took them over a week to get a prior authorization, they did nothing to help follow up or facilitate the scheduling of the MRI. We have been waiting a week and a half for the results and each time I call they are clearly annoyed and not at all helpful. Once I was left on hold for 15 minutes. No one from that office has called since the day of our appointment which was over 3 weeks ago. I have seen Dr. McFarland in and off for years and recently referred my family member to him. I had been searching for a family doctor for several years before being referred to McFarland. My husband and I do not have insurance so being able to even get into a doctor’s office is hard. Upon my first visit I was met with nice greetings and seemingly intelligent people. It wasn’t until my follow up appointment that I was treated with absolute disregard for human life. I have no idea how or why this office is still open. I would highly recommend someone from the medical board do an investigation on how clients are being prescribed medications. Malpractice would be an appropriate description of this doctors office. Again, disregard for quality of human life. I have been going for years so has one of my daughters. We have never had a problem. Appts are easy to place. Everyone is cordial and Dr Mcfarland is witty and listens. Woman at front desk gave tremendous attitude. Had no sympathy and didn’t try and offer any type of HELPFUL solution to my problem.

We are moving to Boerne soon and I will continue to drive down here to see McFarland. I’ve read all these negative comments and I think most of it is the kind of people that love to fuss and will not be happy anywhere.

This is a good Doctor. My 14 year old refuses to go to anyone else when he gets sick. He’s always has been helpful and treating my issues. I’ve been seeing him for about 6 years. And will continue to see him. He makes my son and I feel very welcome and always answers all my questions and makes sure we understand. I’ve never had a rude staff member everyone has always been kind and helpful.

Great doctor! He always answers my questions and if I call and leave a message I get a call back same day.

His office staff is terrible, was told I could no longer schedule appointments because over a 17 year period I had to cancel 2 appointments. Asked for my medical records and was told they would take 10 days to process. When I said that I have medications that I need refilled was told I could Follow the rules and was hung up on.

I came to Dr Mcfarland after relocation. I loved the Christian signs on the wall. I felt like finally a doctor that keeps the good lord values. Anyways, I spoke to Dr. Mcfarland and told him that I wanted to continue all my patient care plan that I had at my previous Pcp. He promised me that as soon as her obtained my record that he would continue all my previous medications. So fast forward, my client record came in and I was having issues with my heart. It felt like it was doing somersaults in my chest. I went to this doctor and his wife walks in while I’m waiting. A unliscensed person. I guess he is over seeing what her husband is doing. Seems to me you shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. She starts going in my chart and telling me that I’m not getting any of my patient plan that had before. So #1) the law states that you can not be in someone chart unless you are doing patient care. She didn’t do any of my vitals and she ain’t a doctor!! HIPAA violation. #2) why is a doctor telling you that he will continue your personal patient plan when his wife is dictating his practice. He is the one who sat for his boards and knows all the medical stuff not a chick who watches greys anatomy. Because the law also states that you can’t talk about the pt or work you did on a person because that HIPAA!! So anyways I told the doctor that I needed blood work. Let him know something was not right I was crying ????. He decided to do an ekg at my request. And than tell me that I had a right bundle block. My ekg had artifact on it. Not a block. And I begged him for blood work and told him that I had a mineral off. He finally did the blood work and come to find out my vitamin d was low. Causes muscle pain and cramps. Guess what your heart is ?? A muscle. So I saw this doc 4x in a three week span. Every time his wife came in before he did and lectured me on how I wasn’t going to get anxiety medication and that I was a drug seeker. Probably because I have body art and I’m young and a blonde. I don’t smoke, drink or use drugs. I have a college degree and I am about to graduate with a second. The bottom line is that the law was broken here. HIPAA violation, infertility and medical neglect. I was lied to and treated inhumane. Most of all I was given tons of different classes of antidepressants that had nothing to do with what was going on with me. Two weeks after taking the vitamin d and my heart feels back the way it was. And no I didn’t fill the three antidepressants that would have caused serotonin syndrome and maybe a deadly hypertension crises. You don’t mix those types of pills like that. Especially if your telling some one that they have a right bundle block. I’m writing this review to warn others. I changed doctors as soon as I got my blood work results and my cardiac monitor results from a cardiologist. I don’t want to die at the expense or a undereducated wife running her husbands practice that has my life in his hands. I came to Dr Mcfarland after relocation. I personally have not had pleasure of being treated by doctor McFarland so I can’t share my thoughts. However, my mother really likes him and refuses to switch doctors even after close family and friends have shared their negative opinions. My review has to do with his staff who can’t seem to honor their own word. Refills don’t get called in when we are told they will be, phone calls are only returned after we complain and staff are not very welcoming. I know a great customer service trainer in case Dr McFarland is interested in improving his staff. Great doc

I have been seeing Dr.Mc for several years. started with just cold symptoms but over the years he has assisted with my heart health, arthritis, and other health issues such as vacinations for flu, pneumonia, shingles. I have always felt comfortable seeing Dr.McFarland and have recommended him to a number of my friends.

He is a nice man but physician wise I wouldn't recommend him. I have gone to him 3x and each time he hasn't done anything for my issues. This last time I went he asked me what I wanted from him. Well I want you to figure out what's going on with me that's what. Then he just walks me out of the room with nothing else said. Not professional at all in my opinion.

Would not go back to this man. When I was having some anxiety issues after several deaths in my family(my dad, my mother in law to name a couple), and for the first time in my life I asked a doctor for help. He told me his mother died and he didn't need any help and I probably didn't either. Thanks for nothing. Haven't been back since and that has been 9 years.

We got new insurance this year and were thus assigned a new PCP, not Dr. McFarland. I personally had seen Dr. McFarland before and so had my son. So when the new PCP was out of the office, and my 7 year old developed an ear infection, I called my insurance to see what we needed to do to be seen by another Dr. Of course, I asked to see Dr. McFarland. I thought everything was taken care of so when we went to the appt the same day, I explained to the receptionist that I called the insurance and thought I did everything needed. Well, after waiting ONE HOUR at this office, I was told that the insurance didn't change the PCP so we could not be seen, and that since the office could not get through to the insurance customer service, we could either pay outright for the visit, or not be seen. I was shocked. They didn't ask me to call my insurance, didn't offer to help, and even though we were past patients, no courtesy was given to us. It's not my fault you couldn't get through to customer service. The cherry on top is you made a little 7 year old boy wait IN PAIN FOR AN HOUR. We will never go back here. We ended up going to Urgent Care. They verified our benefits in less than 10mins, and we were in and out in 30. We got new insurance this year and were thus assigned a new PCP, not Dr. McFarland. My husband received great care when he went to Dr. McFarland for back pain issues. Dr. McFarland helped him with some medication to help alleviate his pain, and also sent him for x-rays and helped with getting my husband a referral. I called in hopes to get some help with my current back pain and the lady on the phone asked me if I just wanted pain meds. I explained I just need some help and guidance, I'm in a lot of pain and the local Chiropractor doesn't do xrays and can't help me. She said that is basically what will happen if you come here. (This is not a bad referral toward Dr. McFarland he was great when I've seen him in the past), the front desk lady is rude. I am not a doctor, I don't know what is wrong with me, and I'm in constant pain, when someone like myself is calling for help because I don't know what else to do, I expect the first line of contact (reception or nurse) to be reassuring and positive, not condescending and rude. Dr. McFarland is the most kind, understanding, observant and caring doctor I have had in many years. My whole family sees him including my 94 year old Mother.

Walking into Dr McFarland's office I was immediately put at ease. He has Scripture on the walls which to me demonstrated that he is a praying and believing doctor. It is so refreshing to know that one's physician relies on The Great Physician and is a man of faith. Furthermore, he and his office staff are caring and gracious as they treat the well and the sick. Dr. McFarland's faithful experience of 30+ years treating patients speaks volumes of itself.
