We've been seeing Dr kirby since my daughter was born she's 6 months now and we've had 2 instances where she needed to be seen for things other then check ups and they always manage to squeeze her in within hours of us calling! I'm so happy with their care for patients and willingness to see My daughter for our concerns

Will not see children who are not “fully” up to date on vaccines..

Wouldn’t recommend to absolutely anyone. We stayed on top of our appointments but chose to opt out of some vaccinations and after an entire appointment Dr Kirby told me I wasn’t allowed to come back because I, (as the PARENT), was choosing not to vaccinate for the time being. Unbelievable! Find someone else who respects your opinion and decisions.

Would NEVER go here! My daughter decided to be cautious and abstain from vaccines for a bit so he told her he couldn’t see her child anymore.

Had all 3 kids at this office called and they discharged us with out me knowing cause of front office staff when I had an issue with a sick child . Very unprofessional .

My daughter went in for her 6 month appointment today and a lady name Norma calls us back to take her height and weight like usual. She gets her height and weight and doesn’t even tell me what it is but like last time I assumed she would write it on the paper so i didnt say anything. We then went to the room and I waited for the doctor. The doctor said she was growing fine and I didn’t think anything of it because at the time I didn’t know her height or weight because the doctor also didn’t say anything about it. She got her shots and the lady who gave her shots was extremely rude, cold, and said nothing then ran out of the room. At check out I asked the other lady what her measurements were and she wrote it on a sticky note for me since no one told me what it was or mentioned it in back. When I got to the car I looked at the piece of paper and then I noticed that it said she was 26 inches (today for the 6 month visit) and at her last visit (which norma also measured her at 4 months) she was 27 1/2 inches. This may not be a big deal to some people but it definitely is to me. I thought how did she shrink a whole inch and a half between visits? and the medical assistant and the doctor did not notice? So I called the office to ask about the problem to make sure it wasnt a mistake. The secretary then went and asked Norma what happened because she saw the measurement difference in her computer. Norma replied “it must be a inaccurate measurement last time because she made no mistake today from before sorry”and got off the phone without fixing the problem for me. Nothing was done about the issue and I am now wondering what my child’s height actually is and what other things they have messed up at this office that I may not know about. I definitely will not be returning and I urge you to stay away from dr kirbys office in fenton who in my opinion is very careless. I understand that mistakes happen but i believe that someone should have caught it before I walked out the door and that when I called with the issue they should’ve been more professional and fixed the problem rather than just getting off the phone and blowing off the issue like it was no big deal. My kids are 6 & 8 and only go to the doctor when needed now that they’re older and don’t have as many wellcheck appointments. My oldest has some bumps on his back I needed checked out and called today to make an appointment. The receptionist put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and said “I’m sorry. But Dr. Kirby won’t see you because (oldest son) missed an appointment in 2019” Like, seriously?! That was over 2 years ago and I don’t even recall said missed appointment. You’re refusing to see children because of ONE missed appointment YEARS ago?! Fantastic dr that doesn't give into misinformation

Always great been seeing him for my son and he is almost 9yrs old now great staff and survice

They get my kids in for an appointment the same day I call (if it's more important than just a check up). Never wait more than 5 minutes in the lobby. Hes great with the kids, knowledgeable and friendly.

My family and I saw Dr Kirby when the girls were little. We moved and saw a closer Dr for them. When we moved back to town he wouldn't take us back since we left. I've never heard of that. Thought it was unprofessional and rude to be honest

My kids went to Dr. Kirby since they were born. My oldest is 10. Never, ever again will I take them to see him. I took my 2-year-old to him twice in one week, I called twice in one week because I knew she was sick. He listened to her with a stethoscope and said she had a "little something" starting in her upper left lung. Her temp was 105.5, he told me to give her Tylenol. He did not take my concerns seriously or even do an x-ray of her chest. If he had, he would have found that she had pneumonia. I took her to Genesys ER and she was diagnosed as having a "big pneumonia" in her left lung. We were taken to Hurley by ambulance where my daughter was admitted as critical and taken to the pediatric intensive care unit, where she (and I) stayed for 25 days. Her lung collapsed and she endured 3 different chest tubes and one surgery to repair a hole in her lung caused by the pneumonia. Dr. Kirby's nurse, Norma, called me on day 20 of my daughter's hospitalization to remind me of an appointment my other daughter had. I told her what was going on and her reply was "I'll let him know". My daughter almost died and I never once got a call from Dr. Kirby's office asking how she was. One review said Dr. Kirby is relaxed; yes, way too relaxed. Please do you and your child a favor and find a competent doctor. Update: We went back to Hurley for a follow-up x-ray 6 days after she was discharged and that x-ray showed her lung had collapsed again. In total, my daughter spent 35 days in the hospital. A total of 4 chest tubes. My kids went to Dr. Kirby since they were born. My oldest is 10. Never, ever again will I take them to see him. He’s good not great but good enough for simple pediatric care I will usually asked to see a specialist for other issues,other than that the front desk staff is kind of rude. Love Dr Kirby! We never sit in the waiting room longer than 5 minutes. He answers any questions I have. If my kids are sick he gets them in within a few hours after my call and even eases my mom nerves if I call after hours he calls me right back. I have 3 kids my oldest is 8 and have been going to him since she was born. The office staff is always nice and accommodating especially for my wild high strung son. The rooms are all fun. I never have to wait long while I am there. My kids love dr. Kirby. He never makes me feel ridiculous when I ask questions or come in thinking my kids are sick and they just have a cold. I love how he doesn’t prescribe antibiotics often. My 3 year old son has never had them and my 8 year old daughter has only had antibiotics a couple of times and that’s when she had an ear infection. At first I’d be irritated bc I’m like my kid needs them she’s sick. But he was always right. Usually it was just. A virus. We’ve never had a bad experience with dr. Kirby. Kirby is very knowledgeable and great with my kids (3 and 4 years old), they actually enjoy going to the doctor. The office is clean and friendly. Appointments are easy to make. I would highly recommend this pediatrician.

They told me my 7 month old son, with two swollen hernias could not be seen by them. Because my son's older sister no longer sees dr Kirby anymore.

If you need good care for you children i would not take them here. Good for quick appointments but that's about it. Nice but didn't seem to care about looking into things. Called in an emergency appointment and stressed that i would be late do to traffic i was 3 mins late and they would not see my son. The ladys at the frount stated that he was having a hard time breathing and still sent him away. Then discharged my child without notification. They state they sent a letter and all the lady would do is ramble off dates of supposed missed appointments 1 i was aware of for one of my chidren and one they sent us away and 2 and those 2 were back in 2016. My son was seen in 2017 and nothing was said then apparently my daughter missed an appointment in 2017 and they dishcharged both of my children. Never notified till i called to make check up appointments. The frount desk was very rude almost like trying to talk to a out of the us accidental free trial sign up. Like shes reading from a script. My daughter had bumps on her knee and the doc stated they would go away they ended up speading and i was told she should of had treatment long before. Maybe this doc is just a quack. If I could give Dr. Kirby zero stars, I would. I recently moved to the Fenton, MI area with my two young children and needed to find them a Pediatrician to keep up with their wellness visits, etc. Upon calling Mr. Kirby's offices, I was turned away, because of my belief in homeopathic vaccinations. It is my understanding that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and parents, particularly, have the freedom of choice when it comes to immunizations or seeking a natural alternative. This is discrimination! Absolutely appalling. I will make sure everyone knows what my experience has been with your offices and hope your views change in the future as you begin to lose more patients (and prospects)! We’ve used Dr. Kirby for over 10 years, my new insurance is not taken by his office even though it is the largest insurance company out there. My daughter needed to see him and we offered to pay the visit out of our HSA (since we have to anyway). They said no we can’t help you. Unreal after years of having you Dr. Kirby as their primary pediatrician this is the care you give. I hope all who read this will read reviews of all your local doctors. We went to this doctor when we move to the area. I didn't mind it. He definitely wasn't friendly like a normal pediatrician is seemed a little bit annoyed by the parents questions but tried to interact in a friendly manner with my children. Then he kicked me out after I had my fourth child 4 missing an appointment and said it was for frequent missed visits. I missed two visits it showed on the sheet one of which in 2015 and 1 in 2018 . I totally get it if the appointments were back-to-back and I was missing them every month but with four children and only having missed two appointments in two years I was pretty mad. Mind you both of these appointments I did not get reminder calls for when you have this many kids who rely on those reminder calls. I called them and asked if I could just pay a fee asked if there was any way they could reconsider the doctor himself would not even call me back I had to deal with the nursing staff. Anyway I finally gave in and found another doctor and today they sent me a letter wanting me to pay like $20 / file for them to transfer my kids files to their new doctor. Personally I would not take my child here if I had known that it was basically a waiting game on getting kicked out it doesn't matter if you're missed appointments are years apart if you miss more than one of them good luck. A very laid back doctor. He won't jump to expensive conclusions, but will take your concerns seriously. I'm not sure about any of these reviews regarding him, as our experience has been the opposite. Never had a problem getting in last minute with emergencies. Office staff is very friendly and willing to work with you. Our insurance changed with a job change and in the two months lapse between the two they saw two of my children twice. They charged a flat rate (VERY affordable!) for established patients inbetween insurances (like us). Our well visits got all screwed up with my son (my fault) and they got us back on track. I would go out of my way to keep anyone from taking their child to Kirby. My child was there several times with serious conditions and he just sent her away stating it was viral. I immediately took my child to another Dr and as I kept saying my child had a serious condition from it not being treated because of Kirby. I ended up taking her several times to another Dr immediately after she saw Kirby. Kirby never diagnosed my child correctly and labs don't lie.

Dr. Kirby has a great way of connecting with his patients and a realistic approach to practicing medicine. My daughter has been a patient for a few years. I recommend him.

Very unbending practitioner. Will turn children away if late to an appointment by 15 mins and sometimes less (as in our case). Even when there wasn't a soul in the waiting room and not one patient walking in or out of the place. Some of the office staff are are very indifferent and almost rude in how they speak to parents. As a healthcare worker who has worked with hundreds of pediatricians and family doctors, I have never experienced this before, even when offices are swamped.

When I was new to the area, I had no knowledge or referrals to any physicians nearby. Being it was for my child, that is a scary feeling. I went to Dr. Kirby hoping for the best, as I had to start somewhere. He had totally exceeded my expectations, and I am so glad I had given him a chance. We have been seeing Dr. Kirby for 10+ years now, and he has been great! The staff there have been wonderful also, and we are thankful for his dedication in caring for his patients!
