Dr. Michael Gene Gaines

I went to Dr. Gaines for help with shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. After looking at my labs and X-rays, Dr. Gaines did a physical exam of my abdomen and found a mass. He immediately scheduled me for a CT scan the next day and within two hours called me to meet him for results. It was not good news but Dr. Gaines has gone out of his way to get me with a specialist and has called me multiple times to check on me and see if I needed anything. I could not have asked for better care.

I been coming here since 2013. I have severe disability. I have been taking tramadol and anxiety medication every month for it since 2013. During the years I told him I was tired. I told him differ things going on but was ignored. I went and and found a doctor to see why I felt like I was dying. Well, that doctor did nothing. He said change my eating and work out. I found a new doctor. She listened to me. She found out I was anemic and insulin resistant. She took action fast. She said she could not give me the tramadol or anxiety medication that I would have to continue having to see dr gaines. So, today I went to dr Gaines to get my refills. He did give me the refills, however, he gave me an attitude and said sorry you have new doctor and since you are not my patient, I'm not seeing you anymore. I said well she told me to continue seeing you. He said well if you were my patient I would keep giving you these but now I'm not. I said can you at least refer me to pain management. I have been on these medications for a long time. I said can you refer me to pain management he said nope your not my problem anymore. Like I'm been on these meds for a long long time. How can a doctor do this to someone. I don't know but doctors are turning into horrible people. These dr around here don't like each other around here. So they are taking it on the patient because they found someone to listen. I been coming here since 2013. I have severe disability. Dr. Gaines is absolutely phenomenal! He has a wonderful personality, impeccable bed side manner, and is extremely thorough in caring for his patients. He is efficient, communicates well, detail-oriented, and SUPER kind. The way he shows compassion and care with his followup is unmatched. I would definitely recommend family, friends, and strangers to Dr. Gaines.

The staff is horrible, rude, they tell Dr Gaines lies. No wonder his rating is so low. Do yourself a favor never go there.

Dr. Gaines is who I see and who has treated me over the last three years. He is NOT arrogant! Dr. Gaines explained from the start of treatment, what was happening with me and took the time to explain his treatment plan. I have chronic sinusitis and have a lifelong chronic otitis issue. Dr. Gaines goes above and beyond in taking time with each patient so that their problem isn’t a mystery. I am a silent witness to his treatment of both young and old patients in a caring fashion. I’ve seen his attitude and respect is done with genuine professionalism. I recommend him to anyone seeking a serious family doctor who knows his patients. He’s all about the concerns of each patient. This is a sorry excuse of someone who is supposed to be in healthcare profession. Took my elderly mother and was appalled at how we were treated. I’m from Houston and am used to professional healthcare providers

Terrible. Waited 4 hrs 15 minutes to see him. He spent 3 minutes in the exam room with me, where I had fallen asleep by the time he walked in. Dismissive attitude and arrogant demeanor. The month before , I waited 2.5 hours to see him, and I could hear him in the hallway cutting up with the nurses while I cooled my heels in the exam room. I had *appointments* for both. Not a walk in. Acute sinusitis both times, but I was exhausted by the time I left. No apology from anyone in their office for the ridiculously long wait. The next week I changed to another doctor in the same practice, but in Oxford. My next visit to the new physician in Oxford, I waited 15 minutes to be seen, which is reasonable. He also answered my questions, was polite and friendly, not haughty. I won't visit the CARES in Anniston, nor Dr. Gaines again. Will go to RMC E.R. first.

Wow... What can I say. DO NOT GO TO THIS ANNOGANT MAN. He will not help you he will only hurt the situation. His pride keeps him from actually doing his job in helping a person. I repeat do not go to this man. He should ask himself, " Does a person who is in the healthcare industry really need to be "helping" others. The answer is... no." It's quite ironic the name of this place is "CARES" ha that comical! Because you could CAREless.

I have been a patient here for years until today. I've paid a copay in that office twice in one week and this bug I have has gotten no better. So I went to the office to ask for a different medication and the ladies at the desk won't even bother with me. Acting like I'm just a nussiants. She told me that the signed in patients are more important and would be taken care of first. Dr Gaines is a great doc and I know he wouldn't let that slide.
