My 21 yr old single daughter went in for surgery to remove what she was told was a cyst on her upper right breast. He performed surgery in office with a local. Once the wound was open, he told her it was a staff infection with fatty tissue that had to be removed . She was very upset about scarring and expressed her concern with him. Dr. Erickson assured her and said to her "it would heal with little to NO scarring" . He proceeded to remove the tissue making the opening larger to remove the infected tissue. She was sent home on Ibuprofen. She called the next day in a lot of pain and was refused any other pain management and just sent away . It is now 4 months later and this single 21 year old female has a large red circular Keloid scar on her chest the size of a quarter. She is extremely self conscious of it because it shows unless she wears a shirt closing at the neck line. Subsequently she has seen other doctors that tell her she should Not have been told it would not scar and they can try treatments to remove the scarring but its doubtful anything can be done at this point. Had she been told this while the procedure was going on she would have chosen to go to see a plastic surgeon to do the removal. This doctor did not take into consideration this was a single 21 year old girl who now is self conscious and has to live a lifetime with this visible scar on her chest. He ignored her plea and concern she expressed while in a stressful situation. He placated her by telling her , her fear of scarring was unfounded and would not happen. Awful patient care both during the procedure and following.
