I have been a patient here since I was a teenager. The first couple of years were great, Raven is a wonderful hygienist who I would've loved to keep seeing. My issue lies with the front desk staff. From my experience, they are very disorganized and lack communication (kind of a key part of the job). On 2 separate occasions I showed up for a routine appointment, only to be told that the appointment had been canceled and I had not been notified. This is especially frustrating when you take time out of your day to go to these appointments. The receptionist said she would call me later the same day to rebook the appointment. I never received that call and when I inquired myself to reschedule, I was told they no longer accept my insurance. This was never communicated to me at all between now and my last appointment 6 months ago. I have always been courteous and forgiving of this establishment. I do not mean for my tone in this to be harsh, my intention is only to inform both prospective patients and the business itself about how its current patients are being treated. Had a toothe emergency. I was not listed as a patient with this office. Office took its time to reach out to me help me through an emergency during non business hours and on a holiday. They got me in the next morning and were fast. They were able to get in me in the same day with a surgeon consultation. I am no longer in pain and I am a happy new patient. Exceptional! The staff is friendly and fun…. A great combination of personalities. The Dr. is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. I had a badly chipped incisor, you can’t tell the difference between his repair and my tooth, blended perfectly.

Shyster. Told me I needed have all my existing fillings redone after the 1st visit. Went for a 2nd opinion and were told they are fine. Never went back and wish I never went in the first place.

I came to Valley Dentists of Belchertown with a crown that was in bad shape and painful But before going in I frantically called all over to find someone to get me in. I called and left a message on the machine, and that evening I received a call from Cynthia, whom was very caring. She was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and went to great lengths to ensure the treatment to resolve the problem was in my best interest. The next day I went in and saw the dentist and assistant Skye, they were very professional yet personable. They worked together seamlessly in a manner that put me at ease and were very focused on fixing the tooth but I had already glued it back with gorilla glue. So we must wait ... lol. But any physical discomfort was minimal and both Dr. and Skye were encouraging and positive. A very good experience.Skye was very kind, explained everything that was in the next steps that was needed. Valley Dentist has been taking care of my husband and me for 14 years now. My husband recently had a dental emergency and they took him right away. They referred him to a surgeon who couldn't help him the day he went so Cynthia advocated for him and got him into a surgeon quickly as he had other issues that can be affected by dental problems. She sent him to a great place. She kept us informed on her progress and even texted us the day after the appointment to see how my husband was! Nothing but great experiences. Everyone in this office is so accommodating. They get us scheduled at the same time so we don't have to make repeat trips. The waiting area is lovely and the whole staff is super friendly and connected. You forget you are in a dental office. My daughter had a dental trauma on a Saturday and the dentist came in to see her. I was a basket case. Dr. M was very calming then he called me back in the middle of the week. Even though I moved from Belchertown, I still travel to Belchertown to get services here in Valley dentist. I like the small community atmosphere. I am satisfy with the prices and the quality of work. I have been visiting this place for years now!

They are professional and accommodating. I’ve hated going to the dentist all my life, until I found this place. All staff are very pleasant. They keep you laughing. Love the new massage chair to relax you while he’s at work.

Took my 14 year old son here because we were not happy at his prior practice. Raven was amazing after the appointment my son said she was awesome she talked to me like she knew me already! Literally this place is so bad that man should retire. Even the hygienist was so rude to me bc i had one small cavity when her teeth are literally BROWN and fallen out. Also, they definitely commit insurance fraud wayyy to often. Charging my family for things that never happened.

We have had nothing but good experiences with Valley Dentists of Belchertown, my daughter has been going for years now. The staff is caring and kind, my daughter always leaves with a smile.

This guy should not be a dentist. He's a wack job, so is his staff, they charge for things that were never done or not done properly and they push unnecessary products on you.

I felt like I was in a used car dealership. They tried to sell a toothbrush that was like $150-200 dollars and insisted I needed a "fancy cleaning" which with insurance would cost $180. I've never had any tooth/gum issues before and all the sudden I need an $180 dollar procedure? They also kept me there a long time and explained the same thing over and over. Do not go to this dentist! He has a very offputting personality and isn’t good with children that have anxiety. He is not comforting and doesn’t have good bedside manner. And, wow...I was disheartened to read of similar experiences on yelp- shoddy exploitative dental work. I WAS staying loyal to this practice for quite some years. This was despite negative things I would hear and read on forums and such. I chose to form my own opinions. Despite several of my own negative experiences, I stayed because my daughter and I really loved the hygienist. This last visit, however, was just too much. My daughter was told she had eight cavities. Our new dentist (we left the practice) informed us she actually only had three tiny cavities!! Wow. The word shyster comes to mind. This is what led to my finally leaving the practice. After being told she had eight cavities we returned to this office to have four of the cavities filled. She left only having one filled! As my daughter (age 15) exited she was VERY confused as to why the dentist stopped and why she only had one filled. She felt the visit was going okay. My daughter expressed that he did not say a thing to her about what she should stop, or what she was doing. He never said a word to her about about anything and just stopped. Then, when he was finished, he said, “you can’t be flinching like that and not tell me what’s wrong.”- after the fact. Some communication with the patient would’ve been nice. The dentist said to me it took, “45 minutes to do one cavity and I just can’t have that”... well that’s simply not true. Her appointment time was 10:15. He didn’t start until 10:45! Then he walked out at 11:15 without saying anything to my daughter and he was gone for awhile. Again, Some communication with the patient would’ve been nice. It was not anywhere near 45 minutes. I’m also confused as to why, IF my daughter was making his job difficult, that he didn’t come out and get me. He knew I was there. The office manager was talking to me about how the appointment was “badly scheduled,” asking me who scheduled it because she wasn’t there that day, etc. When she was apologizing and talking about the scheduling issue the dentist cut her off and refuted her claim in front of me saying “No, it wasn’t badly scheduled. That was not the issue...”I found that unprofessional and I felt badly for her. The week prior, I was there for my dental cleaning. I witnessed the dentist scold the girl behind the desk because she wasn’t there at exactly 1 o’clock when I walked in. I should not have been able to hear that. Again, unprofessional. I am also reminded of the visit a couple years ago when the dentist came out and said to me, “she was trying to take a swing at me!” Which is of course completely ridiculous to anyone who knows her...And he was implying that my daughter was being violent rather than having an anxiety reaction. I was very close to leaving the practice then, and in hindsight, I should have. I’m not surprised there has been such a rotation of hygienists out of the practice with his personae. The hygienist, Raven, is wonderful and so is office manager Cynthia. My daughter loves her new dentist and feels very comfortable there. Go figure! Do not go to this dentist! Wanted to thank this office and Dr. Medaugh for taking care of me during the shutdown last May. I had a tooth emergency, severe pain, along with some medical issues. I was there a few times (some of that was virtual visits). Dr. Medaugh really helped coordinating what was a difficult situation. Lots of phone calls. Dr. Medaugh Is excellent! I had a severely infected tooth that need a rout canal done I was in so much pain you wouldn’t believe...for an entire month!! I couldn’t get an appointment with other places we’re just to booked up and didn’t seem to care. Finally I was referred here to Valley Dental by a family member. So I gave it a shot and I was so happy because the day I called I was in tears from how much pain I was in and Cynthia got me an appointment right away..the same day!! Wow ???? Can’t say enough good things about this office. Everyone is very friendly. Appointments are thorough, not rushed. The place is always very clean - never shabby or cluttered. The dentist and the hygienist Raven provide lots of education and discussion. We look forward to our visits !

Dr Medaugh debrided my tooth to stop my pain until he can perform a root canal next week. As always, he and his staff worked efficiently. Raven & Cynthia also make my visits very enjoyable with their friendly attitudes and great service. Highly recommend Valley Dentists of Belchertown!

wonderful work on many issues I have accumulated over the years. Very pleased with my root canal and crown. I was so worried, but the procedure was much simpler than I thought. I feel they really have my best interest. A good dentist and hygienist are hard to find. I am comfortable here.

Loved my hygienist, Lisa! She was very professional and made sure I was comfortable the whole time, the dentist and staff we're all polite and very flexible. Even made my daughter and fiance an appointment; definitely found our new dentist.

Bad experience.

This man needs to retire. My wife was taking both my boys here for over a year. Mark drilled a hole in my 5 year olds tooth for a filling because of a cavity and put a temporary filling in. He then proceeded to cancel the next 2 appointment to put the real filing in over the course of the next month. When my wife finally made it back into his office a little over 4 weeks later the temp had already fallen out and he mangled my sons mouth and bruised it all up trying to get the real one in. He was very rough and scared the heck out of my son. He never even ended up getting the filing in and after my son came home with his mouth mangled and I saw it I ended up calling their office and getting involved. I told him that was the last time he was going to be seeing my kids and Mark then made an appointment with a pediatric dentist for us for the following Monday. The pediatric dentist did and x-ray on my sons teeth and determined the tooth had to be pulled. Be wise and stay away from this practice, especially if you have children. This man needs to retire. Cynthia and the assistant (I still need to get her name) were absolutely lovely. The assistant gave me a ton of information and was very honest and upfront about everything involved in my dental care. However, the dentist is not somebody I will be returning to. He is very dismissive, I initially came to his office due to severe pain in one of my teeth and he had to be redirected by the assistant to talk about my pain instead of some other dental work that I needed done. He prescribed me antibiotics which cleared up an infection, and then we proceeded with a root canal. The root canal is one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had, he used a bite card which caused stress to my jaw even after I asked if there's any other things he could do to mitigate my jaw pain. By less than an hour in I was in an insane amount of pain in my jaw, which he did not seem to care about. I was in his chair for over 3 hours which is insane for a root canal. my tooth continued to hurt for several days after the procedure, and he prescribed me antibiotics without asking me any further questions or having a follow-up appointment. I will absolutely not be returning to this dentist for any dental procedures in the future, and if you appreciate good bedside manner and not being dismissed for your pain, I recommend you go elsewhere. I usually have a good experience here - the dentist is nice, the hygienists are SO sweet, and everyone is great when it comes to accommodating to what makes me comfortable! However, I really just came here to say that the blonde woman working at the front desk had quite the attitude with me. Dr M is prudent with sound judgement. He shares a lot of information giving you great dental advice. Has the ability to manage complex dentistry when the path is not easy. Always enjoy my visits, even though I don't like dentistry.

My daughter and I both go here. Raven and Mai are the hygienists we see and I could not be happier with our care. My daughter loves it there (she's 3), they do a great job of making sure she enjoys the dentist's office. Highly recommend!

If I could give Mark a rating of 10/5 stars I would because he deserves it, The best dentist around. Personally I don’t want a dentist who’s content with their work. Mark is a perfectionist when it comes to teeth. He’ll literally be all up in your mouth checking everything from different angles until it’s perfect. A couple of years ago he did a root canal and crown on my two front teeth. You can’t even tell that they’re crowns. The color, shape & dimension fits perfectly with my other teeth. All of my family sees Dr M and his staff. Cynthia at the front desk makes scheduling and dealing with insurance a breeze. And Raven, one of the hygienists, has the best bedside manner. If you are anxious about going to the dentist this is the practice to go to - everyone there works to calm your worries.

Wonderful family dentistry practice! Dr. Medaugh and staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The office space is bright and clean. I feel so comfortable in this space and know my teeth are being well looked after.

2019- I recently had to get a new dentist after seeing the same hygienist and dentist for 22 years. I decided that I would go to Valley Dentist in Belchertown located in the stop and shop plaza near Florence Savings Bank. When I went in there, the young ladies at the front desk were very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. I had my first cleaning done and the hygienist said that my teeth looked great. Dr. Mark Medaugh then came in to examine them and said that I needed 5 fillings and a crown. I didn't think that in a six month period I needed 5 filings, since I take very good care of my teeth, but I figured he was the dentist and that I should go with his advice, so I scheduled an appointment to have 3 fillings done out of the five. I wont explain this very lengthy story, but the result of all of this was wasted time and money, one of the fillings that he put in and charged my insurance and I for fell out 21 days later. He also advised that I needed a route canal on the tooth that he said I needed a crown on after he drilled that tooth out without consulting me first. He used up almost my entire insurance premium for the year in 7 visits. All 5 of the teeth that he worked on are in excruciating pain and its been over 5 weeks since he has done work on them and I've had to seek medical help at my primary care office and at a new dentist facility. At the new dentist that I visited they told me that I do not need a route canal or a crown at this time that Dr. Medaugh insisted that I have done as soon as possible. This facility that he owns will not refund the money for the filling that came out, and they have not returned any of my phone calls. Every time I go to talk to them in person the office manager and the dentist are not available to speak to in person, they only respond via email or text message. Not a good dentist, will damage teeth intentionally to force implants, do not trust this person. Mass Gen had to repair damage done by this bad dentist, I am not the only one, run don't walk to a good dentist. Bad guy.

The dental hygienists were nice and helpful when he was not, about just explaining basic procedures that he didn't take the light of day to explain. I've seen this dentist twice and shouldn't have gone back after the first time. The second time I went rude remarks/demeanor the entire time, shortness, aggressive way about him when working with patients (not gental in any way). I've never had a basic procedure hurt so much 3 days after. While he was working on my fillings the pain felt like I had been punched in the mouth and continued to be sore for days from 2 shots inserted without much warning (I generally pass out from shots from wooziness, and did almost pass out). He was doing what seemed like big procedures on what seemed like 3-4 other patients all at the same time. I'm writing this a week later but I am still very upset with the simple lack of respect for patients he has. Ex. Being talked down to when I was in the most pain I've ever been in. A roughness of my gums was the main concern, what felt like metal sheets being forced up my gums in between teeth with full force. My mouth was bleeding the worst it ever has before. I've never had any issues like this with any dentist. And they made it seem like I had a gum problem because of this, which could be true - but holy hell go easier! I can not imagine a child or elderly person going to this man. Will not be going back. The facilities seemed top notch, but maybe they need another dentist. I even looked at reviews before I came too, will not be coming back. Advice for them: just give people the decency of letting them know general step by step of what you're doing instead of just doing it without too much of a warning. Dr. Medaugh did my teeth. He is best dentist I ever had. I am ninety. I have five implants and crown and bridge. I am grateful to smile and have my teeth. He and his staff did a wonderful job.

I am 26 years old. For a majority of my life I have had issues with my teeth and a real negative attitude toward all dental offices. I just recently switched insurance companies and Valley Dentists of Belchertown was recommended to me by my insurance company. I reluctantly went to this office to see if this place was any different than the other 10-15 dental offices I've tried in my lifetime. From the first phone call that I received from the front desk I could tell that this office was different than what I was used to, and for the better. I needed significant work done on my teeth and I could not be happier with my results. I have spent a fair amount of time over the past month and a half in this office and for each appointment all the staff members were friendly, informative and very professional. The front desk is willing to take the time to not only work out scheduling and payment with me, but they are genuinely interested in my treatment planning and progression. The hygienist at this office is gentle, friendly and makes all that cleaning (I needed a lot) very tolerable. The dental assistant takes the time to explain what exactly is going on with each procedure and is very caring in her approach when working with patients. Dr. M is straight forward and to the point about things. I appreciate his ability to balance professionalism with personality. His work is A+, he was able to save a few of my teeth that other dentists had wanted to extract or dive straight into a root canal. He is able to understand the importance of not only functionality, but appearance as well. I feel strongly about the positive impact this dental office has had on my self esteem and my overall attitude toward dental offices. I don’t usually write reviews but when you get an A+ service you want to show your appreciation. Dr. M is an A+ dentist. Even though I was not his patient, he was able to squeeze me in for an urgent care and then called me after hours to see if I was doing okay. Dr. M was able to save my tooth by covering it with a crown. I was very impressed and he has been my dentist ever since. His dental stuff too, are extremely proficient and compassion. It is not a drag to have to go to the dentist anymore, it is an easy going visit with really nice people. The worst dentist who I have ever been to in my life, and I'm in my 60's and have had lots of dental work. He may have skills at creating front tooth crowns, but is brutal ,callous, egotistical, and did a horrible job at fitting three crowns. it was obviously way above his skill level and I had to suffer with them, and have two of them replaced. None of the crowns were anything like the teeth that they were supposed to replace and fit in the same way. Nice staff, but RUN, the other way!

When it comes to my teeth, i take the time to research dentists as I am very selective. I actually sent them an email and Cynthia and I corresponded for a day or two before we actually spoke on the phone to schedule the an appointment for a cleaning and x-rays to see just how bad the damage was. On the phone, Cynthia was great. Fantastic personality, she's empathetic to the fact that many people are averse to going to the dentist. So, she reassured me that everything would be ok. I showed up for my first appointment and greet Cynthia. The amazing thing regarding every visit is, the waiting is almost none. They took me right away each time. The appointment went great. The doctor told me what I needed to have done. So, I made the appointments to schedule the procedures. Honestly, I'm not one for writing reviews - but when a place of business makes me feel comfortable with a great bed side manner, they deserve a review. Here's the most amazing part. I checked with many dentists in the area and their prices could not even come close to Valley Dentist of Belchertown. I would definitely recommend them to everyone who is concerned about price and being treated like a person and not a patient. Great doc. Spends a lot of time, does nt rush you through like turning tables in a restaurant - like the old office I went to. Dr. Medaugh had a wait and see approach regarding tooth pain I had, many appts at no charge. This helped me wrap my head around what was going on, and did nt feel railroaded. Stayed ever since, hygiene is great, good cleanings, thorough, easy place, this is not mill dentistry. Great dentistry, very competent. ANDY Great doc.
