Dr. Mark J Akers

I struggled for years with what my previous doctor (and neurologist) refused to diagnose. When I began falling for no apparent reason, my sister got me in to see Dr. Akers. Within three months, he and the neurologist and urologist that he recommended had diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis. After that I switched my daughter to Dr. Akers care. She has been treated for scoliosis with back braces but according to her previous doctor she was fine. Dr. Akers ordered an X-ray during her first exam. As it turned out, her spine was still curving. He connected us with a great pediatric surgeon who corrected the curve in her spine. Dr. Akers has been a blessing for us. I definitely question has medical ethics

Leaving this review for my mother. She was with Dr Akers for years and he had her on blood pressure medication for years and she coughed nonstop for 2 years on the med he had her on. He didn’t know that the coughing was a Side effect of that medication! When she was in Florida she attempted to get a refill here for her blood pressure meds and the office took weeks to get it to her and they actually never got it to her in time. She ended up having a horrible hemorrhagic stroke in Jan of 2019 because of this.Dr Akers’s office never reached out after the stroke and neither did Akers. Dr Akers never went to the hospital to check on her. My doctor always a see me in the hospital. It is his fault she had this horrible stroke. While sitting in the icu with my mother a nurse told me that coughing is a major side effect of all these blood pressure meds. How does Akers not know this? It’s bc he doesn’t care about his patients. Akers is a negligent, uncaring, and unprofessional Dr. please don’t t

Vary rude told them I was coming byto fill out paperwork and the receptionist lady was rude and argressive towords me

Dr. Akers refused to diagnosis my grandmother with alzheimer's, or dementia. We told him for years we thought she was slipping and he brushed it off ar if it was nothing. He was her doctor for years, and he refused to do any further testing. He kept telling us everything was okay, and she was simply getting old. Once we found another doctor to come check her out, he ran a few testand wheat do you know... we were told she'd had dementia for some time and it had gone untreated for God only knows how long. Within 1 year, she went from being functional to being put on hospice. He only came once to check on her. He was never able to reached nor would he return calls. Maybe he's good with younger people, but I would never recommend him to be in charge of the care for the elderly! Dr. Akers refused to diagnosis my grandmother with alzheimer's, or dementia. All our family asked for was an autopsy or at least a blood draw on my brother when he passed away by himself last week, but you refused. As Seneca County’s coroner that is part of your damn job!! This isn’t the first time I’ve heard you have refused this request from a family of an addict! I hope your family never has to deal with addiction. If this was your family member you know damn well you would’ve done something. Thanks for nothing in our time of need and healing! Doc is a real person and tells it like it is

Dr Akers cares for both my husband and me. He & his staff always treat us with respect and kindness. They work us right in if there is something urgent happening. We are both pleased to have him as our family physician. The office is bright, clean and easy to find.

Akers is the best family doctor around. He will answer any question and won't stop helping you until he knows you are 100% better. He literally saved my life, if he wouldn't have stepped in, I most likely would have died.

Dr. Akers took wonderful care of my mother while she was alive and is taking the same great care of my Dad. If I ever have any questions regarding my Dad's health, I call and leave a message and he returns my call the same day and answers all of my questions. His staff is very nice. I strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a primary physician.

Not a good doctor to go to. I've had 2 appointments with him. The first one was for shoulder inflammation and he just told me to go buy a book and do exercises out of it. The second visit was a wellness exam for work. They didn't fill out the information on my paper for work correctly so i had to take it back. When i took it back they charged me 20 dollars to fill the spots out that they didn't fill out the first time. Then they charged me 110 dollars instead of having my insurance pay for it..

My Mother is currently under his care at the Tiffin Rehab Center and is declining in health. He has not come into see her in over 2 weeks despite the staff trying to get him in to see her. His office staff is uncooperative and rude. I would recommend staying away from this doctor.

I would advise never going to Dr. Akers. I scheduled my yearly preventative exam and ended up with a $70 bill. I dealt with nasty billing lady that told me that I didn't use the word wellness in my appointment even though i was assured the appointment was for my free preventative exam and was told see you next year. This office just wanted to make a quick buck and does not care about the health and well being of its patients. Please don't make the same mistake I did.
