The office staff is unprofessional. I am a cancer survivor and have dealt with many doctors and surgeons. This front office is the worst I have ever spoken with, and they lack any sympathy or compassion for patients. After trying to schedule an appointment I cancelled before it came up.

Dr. Rivera recently removed my gall bladder. I had met with him a few times prior to the surgery and appreciated that he took the time to explain the process and answer all the questions my wife and I had about the procedure. He is compassionate, professional, and an excellent surgeon. By my follow-up appointment two weeks post-surgery, my incisions were nicely healing and 2 of the 3 were barely visible. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing surgery.

Great doctor I had to do an emergency surgery for my gallbladder removal and he took the time to explain the whole procedure and from there everything happen really fast. Thank you Dr. Rivera.

Because of the covid I wasn't able to meet Dr Rivera in person but with the telehealth appointment he thoroughly explain the ins and outs of what to expect on my gall bladder removal. My surgery required him to also clean up scar tissue caused by my gall bladder. I was nervous about the whole thing but with the kindness shown to me by Dr Rivera and his staff, it made the procedure easier to deal with. I'm healing nicely from the surgery and I highly recommend Dr Rivera and his staff. I also have to say the experience at Southlake Methodist Hospital is a memorable one! I was treated like a queen! It was the best I've ever been treated in a medical facility! I highly recommend this hospital as well! Dr. Rivera is a very competent surgeon and has a great personality. I met him in the hospital about to have emergency surgery and was so happy with his knowledge of bariatric surgery, complications, and his bedside manner. I'm doing very well after my surgery . His office staff and nurses were positive and pleasant.

We truly cannot thank Dr. Rivera enough for the fantastic job he did performing my surgery. This was my third hernia operation, the first two were performed by a different surgeon. It is very unfortunate that I did not use Dr. Rivera from the beginning. Not only did he do a GREAT job, the surgery became extremely complicated due to the mesh from a prior surgery being entangled. Dr. Rivera has a wonderful bedside manner and I was amazed that he also received praises from my wife. We felt he actually CARED about us and the final outcome of my recovery. There really are not enough kind words to describe our experience with this surgeon. I highly recommend him to anyone considering a surgery.

After arriving at the ER with severe pain. A cat scan revealed it was my appendix. My surgery was scheduled with Dr. Julio Rivera. He very kindly explained the surgery and what to expect as well as reassuring me I was in good hands. I immediately felt calm. Upon being released I was told to call the Dr. a week later. The second day of my recovery he personally called to check on me and on the 6th day called again. I would highly recommend Dr. Rivera. He is courteous, respectful, caring and knowledgeable in his field. My overall experience was complete satisfaction.

Was told i couldnt do cash but upon arrival was told i had to use insurance and i was told wrong by 2 people. Was told they dont do procedures in the office id have to go to a hospital to remove a cyst/boil but yet i was placed in a procedure room. Barely looked at it. Felt like he didn't want to treat me and the visit was rehearsed. Very disappointed and makes me not trust doctors at all. Very dissatisfied and disappointed in how i was treated at this office.

My appendix ruptured without warning and I was very fortunate to have the highly skilled Dr. Julio Rivera immediately available to me. He apprised me of the situation prior to surgery so I understood exactly what the procedure would be. His follow up bedside the week following the surgery was excellent and thorough. I strongly recommend Dr. Rivera, a highly skilled surgeon with excellent patient skills.

I was referred to Dr. Rivera by my GI doctor and while I was nervous about seeing a new doctor, all my fears subsided during my consultation with Dr. Rivera. He took the time to explain the pros and cons of surgery with me, any possible risks and answered all of my questions. He's a very knowledgeable and skilled doctor, but also friendly and easy to talk to. The day of my surgery, he was on time, checked in to make sure all of my questions were answered and talked with my husband afterward; he even likes him, too. My post-op appointment was great, and while Dr. Rivera explained that some of my issues may still occur, the prognosis is encouraging. It's very apparent to me that Dr. Rivera is in medicine to help people, never treated me like a number but as a person with lots of questions who needed answers and relief. Dr. Rivera was very thorough in my initial examination and explained all the aspects of the hernia surgery he was advising. As an avid workout/weightlifting enthusiast, I wanted to quickly schedule the surgery and recover as soon as possible. I was able to schedule my surgery in less than a week and even push it up against a holiday. Dr. Rivera used his minimally invasive, laparoscopic robotic procedure. Dr. Rivera did my single-site cholecystectomy back in 2016 and it was the quickest, easiest recovery I’ve ever had from a surgery. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back to work on Monday!

Having never had surgery before, I feel lucky to have had Dr. Rivera as my surgeon. He discussed with me the risks and side effects of the surgery and allowed me to make educated choices. I had to have emergency gallbladder removal on Jan 30th and was able to request Dr. Rivera on the recommendation of my primary care doctor. He took the time to visit with me the night before the surgery to explain what would happen, and discuss potential risks. At the follow up visit he answered all questions I had about the healing process. I found Dr. Rivera to be a calming presence during a somewhat unpleasant situation, and I felt confident I was in extremely good hands. Highly recommend.

Dr. Rivera performed a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (removed my gallbladder) approximately two weeks ago. I felt like he did an excellent job explaining the procedure, risks, and recovery with me prior to the surgery. He was willing to take as much time as needed to answer questions, and I never felt rushed. The recovery was easier than I expected and my previous symptoms are gone.

To remove an old and large inguinal hernia Dr. Rivera listened carefully to my concerns and provided options for both timing and the procedure. We chose the laparoscopic robotic technique and I couldn't be more pleased. I felt totally prepared for surgery and was pleasantly surprised by how little pain I experienced in recovery. With his encouragement I walked the day after with minimal discomfort and returned to normal, non-stressful activities on day 3. Dr. Rivera is both skillful and caring.

Had an amazing experience with Dr. Rivera. I've had quite a few surgeries in the past, but Dr. Rivera never made me feel rushed or like he had to get to the next patient. He took the time to answer all of my questions and never even attempted to get up until he was 100% sure that I didn't have anything else I wanted to discuss. He is also up to date with the latest surgical techniques and robotics. I would definitely felt like I got the best care possible and recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Rivera is the ultimate professional! I saw him in his Ft. Worth office on a Thursday in August where he explained exactly what my problem was and how he would fix it.His staff is very friendly and caring. After seeing him in his office, I was able to have surgery scheduled 1 week later. Everyone involved was extremely thorough and sensitive of my needs. His surgical team was very prompt! I would recommend Dr. Rivera to everyone who is in need of the services he provides!

Having had some bad experiences with a local "TV" surgeon, I carefully researched bariatric surgeons in the area before making an appointment with Dr. Rivera. All of our doctors looked into him and all said they'd heard nothing but good things about him. And it all turned out to be true. The surgery went flawlessly, I had little pain and only for a day or three. The staff is professional and caring.

Dr. Rivera is by far the most thorough, thoughtful, and patient surgeon I have ever come across. My 80 year old Father had 2 surgeries preformed in one week by Dr. Rivera and I am happy to say that both surgeries went very well. From helping me choose the right procedure, through post operative care he and his expert team were fantastic. The degree of professionalism I encountered throughout the whole process was stunning. Dr. Rivera removed my gallbladder a month ago and everything went easier than I had expected. I'm only 18 and kept waking up with severe middle back pain and a burning in my chest.
