About Dr. Joseph W Mcnutt
Reviews for Dr. Joseph W Mcnutt
Dr. McNutt and RNFA Kim are attentive, engaging and make every patient experience unique to each patient. My son and I both had knee issues and were examined, seen, given comprehensive treatment plans unique to each of our problems. The office is responsive and welcoming. I have always gotten a live person on the phone and while that's nice as a patient... it's such a relief as a worried momma. I recommend Frisco Orthopedics and Sports Medicine for all our future sports injuries!
This review is about 6 years too late as my shoulder surgery was performed by Dr. McNutt in mid 2016. I had what they call a "SLAP tear" where my bicep tendon attaches to the back part of the shoulder (I am paraphrasing because I am not a medical professional). I initially went to a Dr. in Plano and specifically asked if there was a way to heal from this without surgery. We tried physical therapy but ultimately determined that wasn't going to stop the effects of the partial tear. For purposes of clarity, my symptoms were that if I rolled my hand palm facing up there was a sensation that my "shoulder rolled out of place". It was painful when it happened and just uncomfortable if it was stationary. I decided to get the surgery but opted to reach out to Dr. McNutt because he was closer and I had a friend that knew him. My experience with Dr. McNutt was very pleasant and his explanation of my situation was detailed and I understood what the plan was. Our pre-op plan was to remove the tendon from it's original attachment point, clean it up and re-attach it to a different location where it could fully heal. The reason for giving 2 stars is that when I woke up after the surgery I was told that the tear seemed to only be about 25% and he decided to "clean" the tendon up and keep it attached to it's original location. I believe Dr. McNutt's intentions were honorable, but at no time prior to the surgery did we have a discussion about the possibility of not moving the anchor point of the tendon. His comments were that he felt that it would heal and that the healing time was much faster and less painful by doing what he did. The problem however is that it did not "fix" the problem and my shoulder does continue to have the similar effects. If we had a discussion about the possibility of not removing and re-attaching the tendon with a risk that it would not alleviate my symptom then I obviously would have decided with him to go forward with the original plan. I was not unfortunately given that option and quite honestly didn't know it was even on the table as a solution. I went back to Dr. McNutt a couple of times after the surgery (the typical post-op check ups) and after the second one he said that we would need to have the surgery again. Unfortunately I never had the surgery again because of the recovery time and my career, but I think I would have gone elsewhere due to the lack of conversation prior to the first surgery. I believe he is a reputable and respected surgeon and have no ill will towards him personally, just not satisfied with the outcome or the "in surgery decision" without taking into considerations my input.
Amazing service and wonderful staff! My boys and myself have all seen Dr. McNutt, and cannot ask for better professionalism and courtesy. Would recommend to anyone!

I fell and broke my wrist. Dr. McNutt and his entire staff has been wonderful!! If you need an orthopedic doctor, I would highly recommend this doctor!
Great orthopedic surgeon who cares about his patients
Dr. Mcnutt is easily the best doctor in America. They treat you like family as soon as you walk through the door. He did surgery on my ankle and my ankle was better than ever. Really good communicator and you never have to ask questions.
The staff is ridiculously rude. Filled out paperwork online and said they didn’t have it. Then magically it appeared. Asked the same questions that were already answered on paperwork. Haven’t even met the Dr yet but I know I am never coming back. Told me I was missing Xrays as there were only two shots and should be four. Ok, the ER only took two. Well the standard is three shots. If the standard is three, why are you telling me there should be four? XRay guy especially rude. Telling me to bend my knee various ways. Uh, I have a knee injury, that’s why I am here. I would recommend not coming here as they clearly lack a bedside manner. They don’t need the business. If this is just the staff, I have extremely low expectations for this Doctor. I went in for a total knee replacement. I do not recommend him as a knee replacement surgeon. I am petite and unbeknownst to me, he put in a one size fits all knee replacement. I was in extreme pain for the longest time and did not get relief until 11 months out. My knee is still noticeably larger than my natural knee and looks like a square blob. I am not happy with my crooked scar and all of my oversized knee Go to someone who only does knees and is officiated with better hospitals . I went in for a total knee replacement. Very clean and well organized office! I highly recommend this practice for pediatric patients & adult patients. Wonderful family practice!
Dr. Mcnutt and staff have always been fantastic to work with so much so that my Dad , Daughter and I have all used his services .
Dr. McNutt is the best ortho there is! And his staff is even better! You can find the best dr in the world, but if his/her staff don’t treat you right and have great customer service.. well, you won’t return! My mom came in with a broken foot and was in severe pain, and Kim knew just what to say and just what to do! Her personality and blonde curls light up the office! Will also shoutout Beth. Dealing with insurance and money, I don’t envy her! But she was polite and caring and didn’t add to my moms stress. Thankful for these ladies! Dr. McNutt is the best ortho there is! I was having a lot of pain in my left foot. Went to my family doctor and had x-rays done. Said they didn’t see anything. Went to Las Vegas, walked around there all weekend with so much pain. Came back and decided to see Dr. McNutt. He took x-rays and sure enough, my foot was broken. It was so broken, even I could see that! Anyway, he fitted me with a boot to wear for two months. Dr. McNutt is a wonderful orthopedic surgeon who has worked on me and my family for years. He is professional, knowledgeable, and works with his patients to ensure surgery is decidedly the best option. He helped me detect my early-onset RA before anyone else and helped get me the care I needed.

Excellent Service and Honest Feedback.
Dr McNutt and his staff make me feel so comfortable and welcome , when I came home and told my friends about how his wife hold my hand before surgery and showed genuine care when I was being administrated with the anesthesia, I was almost in tears, my friends took his information in case they ever need them. I was worry that things don’t go as plan, I need my knees to perform my job so I can continue to provide por my two College kids. So far, so good! Went in for both knees. Said I could hold off on surgery, as I have very tiny tears in my meniscus, which was confirmed by the MRI so that made me comfortable that he knew what he was talking about & his reputation preceded him. He said ultimately, I could potentially heal on my own. I like his honesty, as most surgeons would be jumping to get you under the knife ASAP for the $. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about a business owner making $, but the fact of the matter is, he gained my trust even more. I will be proceeding with surgery soon. So far, so good! Best orthopedic doctor in DFW. First class service and great staff. I would definitely recommend Dr. McNutt.
Dr. McNutt has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. His support staff is great as well. Kim wrestled with my cruddy insurance company who was questioning why I needed medication for a knee injury.
My husband tore his Achilles’ tendon and the initial appointment was quick and efficient. The staff is always very friendly, making each visit pleasant. The surgery was scheduled for 8am and the surgery center was clean and efficient. Dr. McNutt and his nurse/wife Kim are an amazing team. When an x-ray revealed a small fracture as the cause of my son's leg pain, it also showed a lesion on the bone. We had an MRI done on Wednesday night, and he called us on Thursday morning (Thanksgiving day) to give the confirmation that it was benign. He even had his radiologist look at it on Thanksgiving to confirm. They didn't want us worrying over our vacation. Truly thankful and know my son is in good hand's for treating the fracture.

Would not accept my husband as a patient because Medicare was secondary insurance. I am a patient with him, but not any more. Doctors should not discriminate.
I've seen Dr McNutt for my knees, elbows, ankle and calf muscle. He has also treated my daughter for her ankle. If you're looking for a professional who is caring, respectful, has a great personality & excellent, kind and friendly staff; then this is a Doctor for you. Joseph McNutt, MD is one of my favorites! Good luck.

Dr. McNutt is the first doctor and definitely first surgeon I have ever visited that had me wait less than 10 minutes before being seen. Most other physicians make me wait 30+ minutes before being seen. On top of that, Dr McNutt was so knowledgeable and gave me more avenues of treatment than any other surgeon before. Fantastic Orthopedic Surgeon!
Dr McNutt 's nurse went above and beyond to make US feel welcome!! Dr McNutt ' s exam was very very thorough. My 14 year old son had 4 issues, Dr McNutt went in depth to explain each diagnosis, and the specific treatment for each. hWhen my daughter suffered a severe ankle sprain during a game we went to see Dr. McNutt, the staff was awesome and the Dr. was quick to see us. He checked out her ankle and xrays and we were thinking she'd need surgery, but he reassured us that she wouldn't need it. I'd recommend his office again and again.

Doctor McNutt was suggested by my Primary, and as usual, she was right on the money. He knew exactly what was going on with the initial diagnosis, and I attribute much of this because he really listened to what I was saying. He suggested and MRI and went into great detail exactly what he saw. Going into surgery, he foresaw 2 scenarios. First would be a minor Cartilage clean-up, the 2nd would include Microfracture surgery. He explained in great detail the Pro's and Con's of what was going on. I did opt for letting him do whatever he felt was nessecery to get me as healthy as possible, and it did include the latter. I am rehabbing with PT and already feel much better than I did going in (In less than 3 weeks time). His entire staff has been very good to work with. My other knee is also due for some work and I will indeed be asking Mr McNutt to do it as well. Doctor McNutt was suggested by my Primary, and as usual, she was right on the money. … More
