Endometriosis patients BEWARE This doctor calls himself an excision/endometriosis specialist and he in fact is not He left me in more physical pain than before my “excision” surgery with him. He did ablations and did not get all the endo. He told me there was NOTHING else to do a nothing else to try except try to get pregnant (really?) I had to go to Center for endo care in Atlanta they were able to expertly remove all the endo as well as the scar tissue left behind by this doctor. Difference was immediate. I would not recommend Dr. Macey. He is incredibly rude he has absolutely no bed side manner. If I was bold enough I would’ve walked out during my appointment. Out of respect for myself I should’ve left that appointment because how he acted was unacceptable. First off I arrived for my 10AM appointment at around 9:40AM the front desk lady was very nice, but they didn’t call me back to a room until around 11:30AM. Why would you keep patient waiting for that long? A little background on me; I was diagnosed with endometriosis two years ago (discovered in multiple surgeries confirmed by multiple pathologist) I recently had surgery by an endometriosis specialist in Atlanta. During my 3 months post up virtual follow up the endometriosis specialist advised me to be seen by a local OBGYN for an ultrasound to ensure everything looks good since I’ve still been experiencing pain. So I came to Dr. Macey office to get an ultrasound. They proceeded to ignore my request and ultimately my Doctors request because I told them I had a referral slip. They proceeded to move forward with a Pap smear even though that’s not what I needed or came in for. Now for Dr. Macey I brought in my surgery photos for him to review and he proceeded to downplay my disease saying things like “if you did have endometriosis it’s a very small amount cause I don’t see it” he told me that the cyst that was removed from my ovary wasn’t an endometrioma even though two doctors and pathology confirmed that it was. He suggested I just have my uterine nerve endings cut so I would just have no feeling down there as if I was making up the pain. When I told him what other doctors had told me he got an attitude and talking down on me like he was the only one who knew best. If you have endometriosis don’t come here. He will downplay the disease and try to belittle you. He was not helpful the whole appointment was a giant waste of time. Oh and as he was leaving the room he said if you decide to get another surgery just tell them the cut the nerve endings. As if I came in seeking out surgery like I’m some surgery junky. How rude are you? I came in for an ultrasound nothing else but an ultrasound. I will never return to the clinic. I would not recommend Dr. Macey. He’s been my GYN for almost 20 years. Always a pleasure.

Dr. Macey is the best! I’ve been going to him for years and he’s so kind and attentive.

Where do I even begin? Dr.Macey is the only Doctor who has ever listened to me.. I had been in unbearable pain for 5years. Most of the time you can not detect or find endometriosis through ultrasounds...only during surgery can they find it...he scheduled surgery asap, and a week and half later I was back for surgery...when I came out he found endometriosis he burned it , and burned a nerve! The point of this review is he is the only one who truly cared about my Healthcare...and his staff is just as amazing as him...they don't treat you like youre a problem they treat you as a human being...im sorry but this is truly a magical clinic to me...after 5 years of no help I finally got the healthcare I needed. It took me awhile to find the right doctor with the right team. With much prayer, I met Dr. Macey and his team. I want to publically send a "Thank you" to them for bringing me back to Health and functionality ????‍♀️????✔ I am so happy with my results I can confidently enter my better years without concern. Sometimes it can be very nerve-racking as a patient to go through any kind of surgery or hospitalization. Sometimes we have to place ourselves in the hands of strangers and trust those we barely know. The need most often surpasses the feelings of distrust or fear. One of the best ob/gyn's in Nashville. I have been a patient for well over 16 years and wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. He has a wonderful bedside manner, is honest, caring and will answer any question you have. He got me through 2 pregnancies, 2 deliveries, one of which turned dangerous when my son's shoulder became lodged while in labor/delivery...he ended up being an emergency c-section. I never leave negative reviews, but I found my experience unsettling and felt I should post. I would've been a new patient to Dr. Macey's office as I just moved to the area. For the past month I've been having unusual symptoms (for me) such as random stomach cramps and sensations similar to a UTI. They've come and gone for several weeks, and I felt I should see an OBGYN. When I spoke to the receptionist, she was very kind and transferred me to a nurse to see if I could get in soon. However, the nurse was extremely dismissive and said I'd need to see a GP for a UTI and shouldn't have been walking around with it for a month. (Even though I told her it was similar to a UTI but felt different from those I'd had in the past.) She completely dismissed the cramping outside of my period and said it would be a long time before I could get in. I found this concerning as when I researched my symptoms, they can indicate cysts or even cervical cancer. I will be calling another clinic immediately. Very disappointed as the reviews for his office seemed mostly positive. The nurse's reaction was very surprising. After many unpleasant experiences with other doctors (after my good doctor retired) I finally found Dr. Macy. Everyone in the office is wonderful and seems as concerned about my health as I am. Leslie, the receptionist, is always so kind even though I call like 50 times a month. Dr. Macy performed my second ablation of endometriosis. Dr. Macey staff and service we're absolutely amazing. My experience was amazing. I was walked through and educated on my procedure. It was a self pay procedure that the doctor didn't think I needed. It was clearly not about the money, but care. I opt to have the procedure. Awesome experience ????

Dr.John Macey and his staff are amazing. I went in for my tubal reversal in January 2018 and 7 Months later I was pregnant. Our sweet baby girl was born April 29th 2019!!! Thank you Dr. Macey for the wonderful work you do!!!!

Dr. Macey was professional and kind and explained all parts of my visit before they happened. He has a good sense of humor and answered all my questions about my healthcare. His staff were warm and welcoming as well, including administrative and clinic staff. Highly recommended!

Dr. Macey is an excellent physician. He is very intelligent and skillful. His bedside manner is most superb. I recently visited Dr. Macey's office for a consult and treatment with The Mona Lisa Touch laser. There was not a question he did not answer. The results from the laser are amazing. Trying to find a physician in the GYN field that listens and makes you feel comfortable can be challenging. His knowledgeable staff were utmost attentive and kind. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Macey.

He was aweful! Never gave me a rogam shot after I told him repeatedly I needed one kept pushing drugs on me like anti depressants every time I had stomach pain and tried to induce when the nurses said I was already in labor. I have struggled with severe endometriosis for going on 12 years now and Dr. Macey was about the fifth or sixth doctor I tried and when I finally found him, I had no hope left. I have been his patient now for about to years and he has done two diagnostic laprascopies on me to help with the endo. He was very careful with choosing the right treatment option for me and respected my wishes as we went down the road together. My last one was preformed on April 12 of 2018 and I literally feel like I am cured. He is a miracle worker and I can not say enough kind words about him and his work. He is truly a godsend to me and my husband and I feel like I now have my life back thanks to him. His staff (Lesley and Mary Beth) are also amazing! They make me feel like family every time I go in and Lesley knows me by first name and really makes you feel welcome. Dr. Macey truly is an angel walking this Earth! By far the BEST experience at ANY doctor's office so far. I am 10 weeks pregnant and had to find a new OBGYN since mine has retired. The staff and Dr. Macey are beyond caring and kind. The front-desk receptionist was just so lovely. She made me feel very well taken care of and even chit-chatted with me in the waiting room. She had a patient even bring her baby by the office and she knew the child by name. I mean just wonderful. Dr. Macey is hilarious and has a dry humor that I love. He was also very gentle when doing tests. He did the first ultrasound on his own, which is almost unheard of. He has a scribe, which I think is super old fashioned and cool, who is also a phlebotomist and she was just super nice. She draws blood very gently and quickly. She took 4 tubes of my blood in like 2 minutes. I hate needles and Dr. Macey even came back to reassure me that she was the best. Absolutely phenomenal staff, nurses and doctor. Dr. Macey takes time at every visit to answer questions, educate and discuss any concerns you may have, which was amazing since this was our first pregnancy and I had a lot of questions! The nurses are all incredible and go out of their way to help and support you. Dr Macey has been my doctor since 1994 when I became his patient because of high risk pregnancy with twins. He was very patient in my delivery of the twins which were 3 1/2 hours apart and still he allowed me to deliver both vaginal instead of having to go through a c section after first baby was born. He monitored me very closely the entire time making sure all was good with both the babies and myself. He has been a great and now a lot of my family see him also with no complaints also. Doctor Macey is an excellent gynecologist, especially in treating endometriosis. First, let me say he is empathetic and understanding. Previous reviews stating incompetence and lack of caring are asinine. I have seen six gynecologists before and he was the first able to diagnose the pain I have lived with for years and gave me the proper treatment for endometriosis. I can’t say enough great things about this doctor and his staff!

I would definitely recommend Dr Macey! I have had experience with only female gynecologist before but sought him out due to his experience with surgery as an obgyn. I needed lapriscopy done and he did a phenominal job and I was not the simplest of cases. He took time to listen and answer my questions and help give needed perspective. His staff is THE nicest office staff I have ever encountered - respectful, kind, aware and prompt. They were able I am looking forward to good fruit from his work.

Dr Macey performed tubal reversal surgery for me in July 2016. He has been nothing but kind and reassuring! I'm pleased to say I'm now over 25 weeks pregnant with my miracle baby at age 37. I conceived my 5 th month trying. He took his time and had an incredible bedside manner! I highly recommend him as I know many that had their surgery elsewhere and are still struggling for whatever reason.

Awful. If you have a serious issue, especially hormone related, do not go to this doctor. Like the other lady on health grades said, this man tries to show off and belittle when in actuality he really needs brush up training himself. To think people are interning under his instruction is nothing more than a scary sign of what's happening to healthcare. I realize he is not an endocrinologist, but he doesn't even possess a physician's level of understanding hormones and how they can cause serious health issues on the body. I would expect that from an NP or a PA who has not attended medical school, but not from a doctor. In other words, if you are also going through menopause avoid avoid avoid. It was very clear in his behavior and statements that he was merely trying to show off in front of other staff and was too distracted to focus on the issues at hand. His staff also presented themselves in such a way that I was not comfortable trusting them with any of my personal info or medical records. The visit was so poor that I am actually in the process with my insurance company to try and dispute the charge. I think somewhere along the way he turned straight business trying to be as profitable as possible sacrificing the quality of care and forgot about the ethical oath he took as a doctor. Dr. Macey cares about every aspect of his patients' health, from physical to emotional to spiritual. He truly took the time to address my medical concerns, as he listened with a compassionate ear, sharp mind, and kind heart. He is pratical and realistic with his care, but also thorough and professional. Dr. Macey is always available to his patients and his staff members are equally warm and friendly. I highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking comprehensive and compassionate care.

Has zero understanding on how to treat hormone issues. Instead wants to prescribe dangerous SSRIs to cover up chaotic hormones. FYI SSRIs are just as addictive as benzos & actually mess with your hormones worse. If there is a hormone issue it should be treated as such. Drugging patients to shut them up is not the answer. Went to another dr that put me on progesterone treatment which actually fixed the issue. That's not even the half of it. His staff is also unprofessional covered in piercings

Dr. Macey told me he would not give me an ultrasound after I had spent the weekend at Vanderbilt for severe pain. He told me that because I was a TennCare patient, it was his tax money that was paying for my treatment and that I could find another provider if I didn't like it. I felt belittled and terrified by this man and I sincerely hope that no one has to ever experience this. If you are a Medicare/TennCare patient I recommend you switch doctors immediately. He does not value you.

I have been a patient of Dr.Maceys for 11+ years. He has delivered all 3 of my girls and was very professional during every office visit. He takes time with you and never rushes through an appointment. I sometimes had to wait longer than I wanted to see him but it was well worth it! He is so kind and patient. He knows the field and cares about you, hard to find these days. He made my deliveries better than I ever expected!

Dr macey is so nice , so respectful Doctor and you can trust him

Dr. Macey has been my OBGYN for 15 years and delivered my two daughters. I cannot speak highly enough of his expertise, his diligence, his calm presence in intense moments (labor!) and the professionalism of his entire staff. If you are looking for an innovative expert in the field who listens to and communicates well with patients, look no further.

Dr. Macey will always take time to explain things to you. I have been his patient for 26 yrs. He is an amazing doctor.

Dr. Macey is great but his staff has ruined his reputation. The front desk staff was eating at the desk and talking with their mouth full to patients trying to check in. When I called to be seen with an emergency, I was told my symptoms were normal. I ended up in the emergency room. Dr. Macey should consider hiring new staff.
