Dr. Jay A Redan

I would not recommend this surgeon. He messed up my son and now another doctor must fix his mistake that was performed on my son two years ago.

Dr Redan took his time and explained the procedure and need for it. He made me feel confident about the surgery and about his ability. Office staff were great as well.

Dr Redan n Dr Casaras saved my life they had to repair damage that Dr Para Devila did, Dr Redan wrapped a hernia that was left in me but now a Dr is saying that there is no hernia there, I called a few times but he never called me back...can a just dissolve..

I'm absolutely disappointed by Dr. Redan office and staff. My mom was being seen here in order for her to get laparoscopic surgery, at the time they told her it wasn't urgent so she could wait. She's been waiting for more than 2 months. I've called multiple times and was told they were finally doing regular surgeries. I've left multiple messages in order to schedule my mom's surgery. NOT ONE PERSON HAS CALLED ME BACK. Extremely unprofessional and rude. I will be reporting to the Board of AdventHealth. I DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!! Our experience with this surgeon has been absolutely terrible and such a disappointment. He's Disgusting, disrespectful, arrogant, petty, and a waste of time. I've never met a more distasteful surgeon than this man in my 40 years of life. I wouldn't dare allow this man to perform surgery on my daugter, and we will DEFINITELY be going elsewhere. Dr Redan performed emergency surgery on me a year ago and saved my life. Would never go to any other surgeon. I highly recommend him.

Never got a chance to receive service. His office told me they would call with cost prior to procedure — they never did. Thankfully, the hospital called afternoon before day of surgery and mentioned their cost as an aside. Their cost was higher than my insurance previously stated. Cancelled procedure. Not sure why it’s so difficult to give your patient bill codes and cost allocation up front so they can verify w/ their insurance. Instead, patients need to make phone calls and figure everything out amongst 3 different parties (doctor, hospital & anesthesiologist) — anesthesiologist’s bill unknown because they’re unassigned until time of procedure. After 30 years in practice, I have referred many patients to others. None compares to Dr. Redan.

He's a great doctor. He's very good at his job. He is the only one I will let help me with my scar tissue disease

He is an excellent doctor. He cares about his patients and takes time to answer all their questions. I have been in the medical field a long time. I trust Dr. Redan and recommend him highly.

After major hospitals/ Drs refused to work on me due to my complicated medical history Dr Redan saved my life Literally! I had been sent home with pain meds and told to prepare for “end of life” treatment. Thank God for Dr Redan, I’m still here years later.

Dr. Redan is the rudest, most arrogant doctor I have ever encountered. His behavior is unacceptable. Do not go to his office if you are a woman with any kind weight problem. Small or large...you will be "fat shamed."

I had a resection, gallbladder removal, and obstruction removed and Dr Redan was phenomenal! He did this 5+ hr surgery laparoscopically and my recovery was pain free. I’ve had similar surgeries before and this was night and day different! I feel great. Was walking the night after surgery and would highly encourage and recommend Dr Redan to friends and family! 10 out of 10!

My daughter has Gastroparesis, and we seeked Dr. .Redan to perform surgery for a neurostimulater, he said she doesn't look sick. He wasnt rude or anything but he didnt do much of anything to help her. He stated she may have food allergies and wanted her to do a $300.00 dollar blood test that we had to do off of some lab online. We went to her pcp and did it instead, and just as i suspected she doesn't have food allergies. He never called us back or followed up. I eventually found another surgeon who did her surgery, because in fact it is gasteroparesis and she neede a gastric pacemaker.

Very unprofessional. Dr. Redan walked into my mother’s hospital room and didn’t ask her who she was and didn’t introduce himself. He mentioned her staples and she told him that she didn’t have any, he said “yes you do, I put them there” then he proceeded to pull down her sheets and snatched her gown up as she was trying to stop him. He then saw that there wasn’t and surgical site. It was at that point that he realized he was in the wrong patient’s room and he left while laughing. He didn’t even apologize. As a nurse, I know how many rules and laws Dr. Redan has broken in this one interaction.He didn’t confirm the patient, which is the first thing you do when entering the room. Her privacy was invaded and Dr. Redan had zero interest in HIPAA at the moment. Then the battery of him forcing her sheets down and her gown up to expose her. She was very upset about this violation of her privacy and the battery that ensued. To make it worse, he left laughing. No apology. He just walked out laughing. Dr. Redan, be prepared for the HIPAA and Battery suits that are to follow sir and next time maybe just maybe you will do your job with some professionalism and respect for the patient. Dr. Redan is a five star surgeon. He constantly demonstrated super competence, and truly helped me "get through all this" over a 4 month process. Excellent team supports him. I'd recommend Dr. Redan to my adult children, to friends who need first class help.

Dr. Redan fat shamed my 19yo daughter (who could afford to lose a few pounds, but is by no means obese) the day after an emergency appendectomy. I found him tactless and extremely unprofessional.

Dr Redan has preformed 5 surgeries on me . Nothing but the best to say about him both personally and professionally , he is nothing but class!!!!!

Was not very professional had a very bad attitude not professional at all I would not recommend him at all and will be writing a letter to the chairman of surgery and the medical director.

Does he possess the 'old fashioned' bedside manner that patients enjoy? No he does not. He is quick efficient and gets straight to the point with little unnecessary small talk. However what you need is what you get. A full and detailed evaluation of my previous history, complete pretests to cover every eventuality of any possible complications, expeditious updates to online records and a best case scenario operation day which involved a visit from Dr. Redan before surgery and a back up from a professional, kind and caring staff. This doctor is a quack and he will not give you a second look once he messes you up I am one of his victims. Look into Dr. Gharagozloo instead. He is a way better surgeon and doctor than Jay Redan and he is located at Celebration Hospital. Trust me you will not be dissapointed. Redan is a quack. Gharagozloo is a TOP surgeon with an excellent success rate. John Hopkins graduate and top surgeon,at Celebration.

I would only recommend going to him if you are a masochist and enjoy being humiliated and disrespected.

Arrogant, on the run, rude. Really egotistical and impatient. I have no idea how much of the surgery he actually did after seeing my bill. Lot of students around. Generally unpleasant. I got incisional staph. I had to stay overnight. The nurses don't like him either. Nothing good to say. Had to have another surgery -- clearly not with him. Bleh. Believe the bad reviews.

I was referred to Dr. Redan by my prior care doctor due to a lump on my lower thigh. I waited 3 weeks to get an appointment with Dr. Redan, at which time he significantly lacked bedside manner, told me he didn't feel anything, that he specializes in stomachs and that he had no idea why I was even there!!! If you take your health seriously, I would advise you find another doctor that cares just as much about you as you do. Run for the hills!!

Excellent physician. I am a new patient & was very impressed with Dr. Redan & his staff. He just performed my surgery today & spent a great deal of time prior to surgery discussing options to ensure I would not be in any pain afterwards. My surgery was a success & 6 hrs later I am home & feeling wonderful. Having a Dr. Spend a few minutes with you prior to a procedure really calms you, which has been proven to help in a smoother recovery. Excellent physician. Dr. Redan takes his time explaining what is going to happen. While in the hospital for diverticulitis surgery, Dr. Redan visited me each day and sometimes twice per day. Once home, his staff or himself was available for any concerns that I had, therefore removing any anxiety. His office staff is friendly and helpful. Office is clean and organized. ,

The surgery went very well, but I didn't like his manner. Im a little overweight, and don't eat that healthily which probably caused my appendicitis, and he told me "Well if you eat garbage you'll get garbage". He didn't have that great of a tone and I was a little offended. And the two times I saw him, once the day after the surgery and at my one week check-up, I saw him for less the 2 minutes.

Dr. Redan talked down to my mom and me like we were stupid, even to the point of saying, That's why I'm the doctor when we tried to discuss our concerns and he dismissed them. He wanted me to do a blood test which experts around the world recommend against because it leads doctors to treat incorrectly. He told me my info about adhesions was completely wrong, but the doctor I got it from is one of the doctors he practices with in the same hospital and says he admires. His bedside manner is bad.

I had a gastric pacemaker that became infected and the incision had opened up. The pacemaker needed to be removed because the infection was spreading around the incision and inside the pocket for the pacemaker. Dr. Redan did not want to operate to remove it and, unfortunately, I had to seek out other surgeons to help me. The hospital diagnosed me with a MRSA infection from this which required hospitalization and antiobiotics which I think could have been avoided if Dr. Redan had removed it.
