We had our first appointments with Dr Veselka this week and I’m so happy! Both of my kids are disabled and we’ve had trouble finding a good doctor. He asked questions and listened to me talk about my children and all their issues and helped me with all my concerns and was compassionate to our situation.. and trust me that is hard to find! His nurse Barbara was also so helpful and kind to my kids and the rest of the office staff were all polite and helpful. I’m so disappointed in Dr. Veselka and the care he has provided to my parents over the years. I took my dad in for visit, the appointment was scheduled as a “Medicare well check/check up”...but there were some symptoms we were concerned about. We filled out the questionnaire and then Dr. Veselka came in and initiated the consultation...I told him the symptoms my dad has been experiencing and he barked at me “well we’re not going to talk about that today because this is a MEDICARE CHECK UP” and that was it. I am in the medical field so I understand the insurance aspect of it...but even some of the doctors I’ve worked for would’ve at least recommended we make another appointment to discuss the symptoms we were concerned about. Dr. Veselka just completely ignores our concerns. He didn’t ask for us to follow up or make another appointment...NOTHING. What if my dad would’ve gone by himself? He would’ve yelled at him the same way and just said “oh well..hope you don’t have dementia! Can’t talk about it today, sorry!” What if the answers to the questionnaire would’ve presented with possible medical issues? Would he have been concerned then??? Does he ignore that? At one visit with my mom we asked him if he could sign an order to a DME company so my mom could get her diabetic medical supplies paid through her insurance...again...frustrated and with an eye roll...”you don’t need that...the strips aren’t THAT expensive...no I’m not going to do that”. Is it because there’s a lot of paperwork that goes along with that? Orders you have to sign? Look we get you’re old and just want to be fishing. But this apathy and laziness is going to get a patient hurt. If you hate your job that much do us all a favor and retire already. I’ve been waiting days to write this review hoping my anger would subside. The more I think about it the angrier I get. I have proceeded to find a new family doctor for my parents. Unfortunately I have to take them to League City, but if it means finding a new doctor who is actually concerned about patients...it’ll be worth the drive. I have been going to see Dr. Veselka for a long time now. I have no complaints. I am a 68 year old male with heart problems. His referals to other doctors have been great. I feel great. Thank you Dr. Veselka.

A great Dr. And a friendly staff.

I have been going to Dr. Veselka since he started his practice and he is a great doctor. when I call with a problem and he can't see me right a way I see the PA and she is great and if she needs to the doctor is there to back her up. When I was in pain and called they had me go to ER because of the equipment ER has and the test I needed. He is a WONDERFUL person and has a great staff. Doctors office very friendly, Dr. Veselka was very fast with getting results for my father. He was very honest and straight forward with his findings on the test that where ordered. the news was not what we wanted to hear but the quickness of the staff is what makes this office wonderful. The UTMB online system helps other doctors within UTMB to view the records so that we don't have to carry them around. My mother will be changing providers to him. Dr. Veselka is the best doctor I could ever ask for. He listens to me. Takes his time and never rushes me. I've been his patient for the last 5 years and have never had ANY issues. Yes. Wait time is a little long for visits but that's why you plan in advance. Good docs have A LOT of patients. All these people on here whining and complaining because their needs aren't met immediately. That's why we have the ER. If you are having pain and can't breath.... you need to go to the ER not a doc office. If you come in with pain 10/10 and inability to breath.... you will be admitted to the ER. Horrible customer service, this is the worst display I have ever encountered from a care provider. They are not willing to make minor adjustments to accommodate their patients. Even if the patient has waited for their appointment for over a month. The health care system is broken and this facility is a prime example of care providers and/or their staff not having the better interest of their patients at heart. I have been a patient for 40 yrs or more, since they took over for Dr Wayne K. Steele and have never had a problem till they sold out to UTMB. I called today for an apt for a colon infection, a serious thing...it is 1-4-2016, the soonest available is 1-27-2016...that is sad and plus the price went from $50-$75 for an appt to $200...what the hell? I thought doctors were here to help? Guess times they are a changing! This place sucks! I have been a patient for 40 yrs or more, since they took over for Dr Wayne K. I have been a patient of Dr. Veselka for 2 years. I call today crying because I am in so much pain and ask for an appointment because I cant take a complete breath and when I try to I am getting shooting pains thru my back and chest. The response I received was ok ma'am he can see you November 6th, "excuse me today is October 27". I cant breath and you tell me I have to wait a week and a half. I have never had this problem until Family Practice became part of UTMB and now they cant take care of their existing patients. Its reasons like this that no one ever wants to bother using a doctor and continues to use Urgent Care and ER services. Urgent care and the ER might make you wait for a few hours but they sure as hell wont make you wake a week and a half. I have been a patient of Dr. Veselka for 2 years.
