Dr. Powell is an incompetent physician. He refuses to prescribe anything stronger than Tramadol for severe pain and charges $200 (which his staff cannot figure out how to correctly bill) for 20 seconds of his time, during which he will ask 0 questions and complete 0 examination. Dr. Powel was able to get to the bottom of my pain and identify the source.

I can't express how much Dr. Powell and his team has helped me. From day 1 of waking into his office I felt very safe Dr. Powell takes him time with you he doesn't rush anything I would definitely recommend Dr.Powell/ Pride to anyone when I tell you he's a great doctor please believe mute he is just that. I don't think God could have lined me up with a better doctor. If I had to do it all over again I would definitely want dr. Powell. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best I'd give dr. Powell a 20+. He's a God sent doctor. He'll take great care of you, he took great care of me.

Dr. Powell is just GREAT!!! He is patient, caring, and interested in his patients! His nurse/assistant Danyal is very welcoming and friendly. I truly rejoice when my appt. time with Dr. Powell arrives as I know "help is on the way"!.. He is truly an asset to Ortho Texas!

Always attentive and caring

My appointment was for 8:30 AM. I was on time but had to wait for 45 minutes to be escorted to a room. I waited for another 30 minutes before I threaten to leave where Dr. Powell showed up. No apology but he spent 5 minutes with me. Then I was told to wait in line to check out. I was not going to wait any longer so I left. I canceled my spinal shot. My neighbor who is a doctor warned me about Dr Powell. I should have listen to him.

he never explains results of tests that he orders. he orders many unnecessary tests

Dr. Powell and his staff have provided me with care for my condition that has resulted in significant improvement over the last year.

Have been seeing Dr. POWELL for many years and appreciate his knowledge, care, and concern for my health issues. Appreciate his PA, Kelly, and staff and the accommodations at both Plano and Frisco offices. Would highly recommend!

Checked in did paperwork and waited just a few minutes before going back. Staff were friendly and talked to me like a real person. Dr Powell spent the time to explain things got an X-ray right there and knew more about what was happening. Set up for an MRI and will see where we go from there.

It was a delightful experience. Everyone was very helpful, kind and efficient. It’s a very organized office staff. Dr Powell was very nice, and has a positive attitude toward fixing your problem. Plus, both him and the staff have a “bit of a sense of humor,” which I personally appreciate. This was just my first visit, but I am actually looking forward to what comes next.

He is competent and thorough. My problem was found after my second visit and a MRI. I will follow up when my procedure is completed.

The entire staff at the Plano office is friendly and courteous! I've never had to wait to be seen and once Dr. Powell comes in, he and his assistant are cordial and helpful! I feel comfortable asking my questions and he is extremely knowledgeable in answering them!!!

Searching for doctors is a job. That is if you are looking for a solution and not just a script. Here is a doctor who is genuinely a "Dallas Top Doc." You will describe your situation in great detail. His staff, physicians assistant Kelly Peters, will assist. You are not given a one-ton stack of paperwork to fill out. They support you in understanding what it all means or could mean. In other words, you get more than you bargained for lots of their time. Believe, they probably don't need more and compassion. You leave with a plan you assisted with guided by Dr. Powell and Kelly Peters. Nothing is left to lady luck, chance! They ensure you are as healthy as can be and medical issues brought to them are being addressed. Yes, bring Dr. Google;s search results: they will be reviewed with you validated, clarified and// or assist you in understanding how it affects your diagnosis and possible treatment options. Note the word options. You work as a team with them. They are not in and out of the office visit in five minutes. You get their time and full attention. What a concept, right! Look no further for the best pain management doctor in Dallas, Texas! (I just pray I can still get in when the word gets out!) I was so blessed to be given Dr. Gregory Powell's name by a neurosurgeon in 2012 who'd done a two level fusion on my neck. I had incredible pain in the lumbar region from old, severe compression fractures, and had no success with lumbar injections under anesthesia. Having never realized pain relief from those lumbar injections under anesthesia I had just given up. That neurosurgeon gave me the insider tip of a lifetime, and I ended up seeing Dr. Powell. Literally, after telling him about my problem within two visits he'd helped me!!! In my opinion Dr. Powell's training as a Physiatrist gives him an "edge" here over other pain management providers. He has been successfully delivering pain relief since when he is always able to hit "BINGO" (my attempt at humor for the description of the perfect spot to deliver relief). Dr. Gregory Powell is a 15 on a scale of 1 being lowest and 10 being best. He is incredibly gifted, and not just in his ability to deliver relief with that injection! Dr. Powell has been that rarest of rare physicians who has truly made a difference in my life for the better. He is very intelligent, compassionate, insightful, practical and very relatable. I have never felt rushed, and have always felt I've been given the time I needed. During my last appointment with him, Dr. Powell actually explained something to me that could be described as transformational! Dr. Powell has an exemplary staff and I do not want to list them all for fear I'd leave one out, but there is not one who isn't a Star in my book (and he wouldn't hang with anything but stars from my years' observations!) I cannot think of one person I've interacted with at Ortho Texas that I wouldn't rate as 10! Dr. Powell is a great Dr. BUT beware of the insurance verification. I was told it is a "curtsey" that they verify, AFTER THE FACT! If you are having a procedure be sure to clarify if you will be put to sleep and IF that as been verified with your insurance. They consider that "other" charges and you could get a HUGE bill from the anesthesiologist. They will not be very helpful!

I have always felt that my appointment was professional and considerate. I always leave feeling that my concerns were important to my health care provider!

I would agree with another reviewer here. If you want to be treated like you are ordering fast food at McDonald's, then go here. The Dr seemed competent and him and his PA know what they are doing, for sure. But how you are treated is extremely lacking, and go elsewhere if you want way better service during your time at the Dr office, and want to be more then an object in the eyes of the people serving you. I am extremely pleased with Dr. Powell, his PA Kelly Peters and his MA. All of them listen closely to your needs, take time to diagnose your condition and offer good treatments toward rehabilitation. I have had a very tough year of doctors appointments and felt defeated EXCEPT when I see Dr. Powell or Kelly. I wish all doctors were as thorough and caring. But I work for an awesome dentist, and these caring medical professionals are few and far between which is what makes them truly Exceptional!

I have been Dr. Powell's patient for many years. I think he is a great doctor, but most of his own staff is unprofessional, inconsiderate, and are not time-sensitive. I recently had major surgery and the staff was very hard to reach, even after several phone calls. His MA always seems bothered when calling back. Orth Texas is now run like a factory. There are 4 offices and it's hard to get an appt. near my home. After complaining about his staff I was asked to leave the practice. It is time.

He is ok as the doctor...always overbooked, therefore, doesn't spend much time with you. Wait is usually around 30-40 mins and then he spends with 5 minutes at most...very disrespectful towards patient's time!

When you first start to see Dr. Powell he spends a lot of time with you. When you have been seeing him for a while he no longer takes the time with you. He does not return phone calls and neither does his staff. If you have questions about procedures, you feel like you are bothering them. And I have rarely gone to an appointment that I have not had to wait for over an hour; even with an early morning appointment.

Texas Ortho stinks there financial policy's need work pay patient portion of procedure in advance (well before services rendered) Lazy Lazy Lazy Tooooooooooooooooo bad he is a very good doctor but with a lousy staff numerous calls and being put on permahold several times. and zero flexibility tells me I need to do business some other place.

I have never been so dissatisfied in a doctor ever! If you are looking for this type of Dr, stay away. Dr. G Powell and his Personal Assistant, "PA", are dishonest unethical people and should be barred from having the privilege to even talk to a human being let alone allow either of them to treat one. Never in my life have I been so disappointed by a human being . I can say that Dr. Powell treated me for almost 4 years at four different clinics. A situation arose and he didn't have the decency to pick up a phone to call me personally. He palmed me off to his PA, who was rude and outright lied to me. I hope the both of you will someway find this review and learn from this experience. They scheduled incorrect appointments, sent me a text to confirm and when you arrive at one of his allocated offices you are faced with a team of blank faces, incompetent staff , no organization and some of us work for a living which means having to take time off work and still no resolution to my concerns or situation. Basically , they say, "sorry can't help you, bye". Dr Powell, did you not take the Hippocratic oath ? Do you understand or even remember what this privilege means? I guess not . All you had to do was exercise a modicum of common decency and personally call me and all would have been ok. So here's the problem. Dr's and staff are so scared a law suit is arising, when they know full well they are incorrect, so the group which includes uneducated medical staff tell lies to back up THEIR STORY. And that's all it is, a story. I'm quite sure you care less whether this review is publicly posted but that's ok, perhaps you will just move to a new group (#5) where they don't know how you are, since I've followed you to 4 different groups in the past 4 years. One has to think why. Well I got my answer. You are unethical, don't care about humans, motivated to cover your ass and $$$ is what you are after; Not helping people. I hope you learn something from this. I know from all adversity one can grow and improve. Perhaps you and that PA need to do the same. Ps.
