Dr. Franklin Rutledge Hubbell

Seen him twice. Figured out my issue both times and cured me. Very knowledgeable, very patient. An asset to our area.

When I was 16, I was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection. I have asthma so I’m susceptible to worsening symptoms and conditions. I can usually tough it out but my awful breathing and extreme body aches were unbearable, I knew I had to suck it up and see a doctor. Hubble was cold and looked at me with judgement, but I didn’t know why. Before really talking with me, he said he would put me on antibiotics. I said I couldn’t take them because I’m sensitive and get infections from them. He immediately started screaming at me that he wasn’t going to give me drugs, which confused me because I didn’t know what he meant. He accused me of trying to get drugs because my boyfriend was there, the man who was kind enough to drive me to the doctor’s. He repeatedly screamed at me, degraded me, and accused me of drug-seeking. This was confusing because I didn’t even see how logically my condition would require drugs, so why would I be seeking them? I never once asked for them, either. He kept yelling at me while I sat there crying, still extremely ill and humiliated, confused. I was hoping to get care and relief but instead got ridiculed and abused. One of the worst experiences of my life from a medical “professional.” Since then, with more medical background and knowledge, I don’t see why he would have jumped to antibiotics anyway, because he never ordered an x-ray to test for pneumonia, a bacterial infection. My infection was most likely viral. Corticosteroids like prednisone would have worked to open my airways and done the trick to relieve symptoms and ease respiration, treatment that wouldn’t get me high, which he was so concerned with, and wouldn’t have rendered my flora useless and susceptible to a yeast infiltration. This guy has made me afraid to seek medical help but luckily I’ve been treated with respect since.

A friend recommend Dr. Hubbell because he had worked wonders with her chronic back pain. Now Saco River Medical is the first place I call when my back needs to be realigned.

Dr. Hubbell is an excellent diagnostician with a wonderful bedside manner. He is extremely knowledgable but does not hesitate to refer a patient to a specialist if he feels that it is warranted.
