I didn't realize my tooth was cracked -- thought it was a loose filling causing the intense pain. Marion Family Dental dentist said a root canal was an option with a price tag of $2,350, crown included. Did two x-rays, one panoramic ($125) and one bitewing ($50). I did not feel very comfortable with this dentist so got a 2nd opinion at my dad's dentist, who found immediately that the tooth was cracked all the way to the root and about 1/4 of the tooth was clearly separated from the main tooth body. No need for x-ray to see this and certainly no need for a root canal since the tooth couldn't be saved. I believe that Marion Family Dentist is more interested in money than the patient's welfare.
