Dennis Saul Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman and his staff are the trifecta of bad service: 1. long wait times; 2. misleading assurances; 3. incompetent doctors and staff. Oh, by the way, although their office is in a medical office building near Advocate Condell Hospital, they have no affiliation with this hospital. Jeez, I wonder why.

Dr. Hoffman's practice is a joke. They had me fill out forms for a hour. Next a saw some guy for 5-10 minutes (who was not Dr. Hoffman). About 1 month later they called me to say that I needed to drive to Elgin to pick up sleep study equipment, and then return that equipment to Elgin the next day. I'm not sure if they're licensed to practice what they advertise, nor at this point do I care.

I wouldn't normally write a bad review for medical situations being that I'm a nurse and I know how stressful it all can be, especially in these times BUT-based on the reviews I was very much looking forward to meeting Dr Hoffman- as a patient who needs a pulmonology work up. Unfortunately, when I called the office someone answered the phone with simply their name. I had to verify that this was in fact the doctor's office. I explained I'd like to make a new patient appointment. The woman put me on hold....for quite some time. And then? They picked up and hung up on me. Ok, it happens, you get disconnected. I waited a minute and no call back. So I called the office back. After 6 or 7 rings, I was then bumped to an automated menu. After going thru the prompts, I pressed 3 for appointments. I was then taken to an answering service where someone I could barely understand was simply there to take down a 'message.' When I explained that I had just been on the phone with the office and they hung up on me, he said "ok your message is that you called and were hung up on?" I also glanced at the clock and it was straight up 12pm. So I am assuming the original person who picked up simply didn't want to deal and just let the phones go to the messaging people at lunch time. This was completely uncool to do as I really don't want to wait for a call-back that might never come to make an appointment. My time is valuable too....wish I could just put on a phone on 'forward' when I need a break from patients, too. Lost a potential patient over this one, sorry. Petty? Maybe but don't play games, just be honest with people and say "is there a number we can call you back with, within the hour?" if they happened to have reached you during open office hours. First when I called the office to make an appointment the front girl was very rude and hung up on me. When I called back and spoke to the office manager and she helped me with no problem. Went to my appointment and the front girl was very rude and acted like I was inconveniencing her. She would not listen about my insurance and treated me very poorly. When my husband went in to see what the problem with insurance was, she was equal rude to him and said they refuse service to me! This is far the worse Dr. office I have ever went to. Why they would let someone so rude represent there office is beyond me!! Update she also treated my disabled husband very poorly!! we would recommend no Veterans nor there families go to this office due to the incompetence of the office staff!! Very professional and most of all understanding! He takes the time to listen to questions and concerns-I had two different pulmonary doctors while in hospital and he went above and beyond with kindness & also put me in my place! lol Great Man

Dr. Hoffman is one of the best doctors I have ever met. He is caring and has a great sense of humor to make you feel better about your situation!

Saw him for pulmonary problems. In a few minutes, he made a medication change that solved several of my medical problems. Knows his stuff.. Also unusually kind. He is really desirable as a provider, which means he is busy and you may have to wait a long time for an appointment. I waited about a month. While you wait, his office staff was useless - didn't return phone calls

Dr. Hoffman is an excellent doctor. I only give 3 stars because it is virtually impossible to contact the office via phone. Virtually every time I need to call them, it takes me ten tries throughout the day before they pick up, and sometimes even multiple days. On top of being good at what he does Dr. Hoffman is one of those doctors who really does care about his patients.

Dr. Hoffman has been critical in caring for my COPD which has caused (4) Spontaneous Pneumothorax (collapsed left lung). He's great as getting me the best auto bipap machine for sleep apnea, He fully explains to me what is happening with my lungs and how he is treating them. If insurance starts not covering a certain inhaler, he's quick to get a substitute that is covered. My experience with Dr. Dennis Hoffman has been that he's always "had my back."

Best doctor in town!

Very personable and listens to me! He doesn't rush you through and want to make sure you understand not only your condition, but treatment plan.

Dennis is great doctor. Listens well and has a lot of compassion for his patients. Always enjoy talking to him.

I have been a patient with Dr. Hoffman for 10 years. He has always displayed a very concerned, professional and accessible. I highly recommend him.

Knowing him over 15 years I have to say that when it comes to compassion, understanding , patience and knowledge he is by far the Best. His office represents him well too.
