Ms. Debbie Meral Palmer

Dr. Palmer has been a gift to me and my family. I struggled with skin issues until my late 30s when I discovered her line of skin care. My coloring evened out, blemished disappeared, dark spots lightened. I barely wear any make up at all thanks to her and I’m 52 now. More importantly, my son (a young adult) was struggling with something that I knew did not seem right. While other doctors dismissed it, Dr Palmer did tests to get to the bottom of it. She figured out the cause and helped us get to the right specialist to address it. She’s incredibly smart, and she leaves no stone unturned.

I had a 10:20 appointment which was confirmed by email. When I called to say I'd be 5 minutes later, they told me my appointment was at 10:30 anyway. OK, so, I have a 10:30 appointment but was not seen until 11:15 as they were running behind. A little annoying but not the end of the world. They sent me a patient info form to fill out digitally but then I had to fill it out again in person. Again annoying but not the worst thing. The doctor came in and without even taking a look at my skin, told me the name of what I had based on "the file" (aka the paper I filled out myself which just said "bumps on face") and she began explaining two treatment options and said the difference is "really just cost". Even when I attempted to show the doctor the bumps, which were mostly covered by my mask, I was rushed and told "I see it, I see it". Barely 30 seconds of looking at my skin. When I told her my last derm removed the bumps and it was covered by insurance, it was implied my previous derm lied to my insurance to get it covered. That accusation was helpfully offered by the assistant who made very confused facial expressions as I was explaining what I had done previously for the issue and then butted into my and the doctor's conversation. It felt very rushed and I did not feel valued as someone who was not coming in to spend on cosmetic procedures as the office seems very set up for just those types of procedures, so I didn't feel comfortable staying to try to work out some treatment, even if that meant paying out of pocket. Reading the other posted review where Dr. Palmer misdiagnosed a skin condition in similar circumstances (not really looking at the patient before diagnosing), I'm not confident she even diagnosed the bumps on my face correctly and will be requesting my previous (now retired) derm's records to confirm, then finding a new derm who will actually take a look at my skin and work with me on treatment. I don't want to make accusations of classism, but I came in with NYS insurance through Medicaid, so I do wonder if I was not given great treatment because it was automatically assumed I would not have the means to pay for something insurance did not cover. The receptionists and Dr. Palmer are all around terrible. The receptionists are extremely rude and arrogant and speak down as if certain patients are below them. Her assistant, I forgot her name, was very friendly and professional though and asked about my medical history and any previous medication/treatments I used. I went in for an appointment to have a skin rash checked out and also to correct my hormonal acne in which Dr. Palmer misdiagnosed me with a skin disease and when asked if she was sure, she told me she can tell by just looking. She never even addressed my hormonal acne issue when I asked and I also brought up what was already discussed with the assistant, instead she just kept pushing her own skin care topical ointments which are ridiculously overpriced and do not help acne caused from the inside. I ended up going to my primary physician after to do bloodwork and after 3 tests it turned out what Dr. Palmer told me was completely incorrect and the results all came back negative. I also went to another dermatologist to address my acne and they actually listened to me and I was prescribed spironolactone and now my acne is starting to clear up. Dr. Palmer didn’t even take time to actually get to the root of the issue during my appointment, just felt rushed and as if she had somewhere else better to be. The best ! Fantastic, knowledgeable Doctor with great staff. If you need a dermatologist, don't walk, but run to her office.

Prior to the pandemic, Dr. Palmer outlined a 3 step course of action. I went through the 1st 2 steps prior to the pandemic, and she decided that they could not collect fees via tele-health during the pandemic so she required me to come in, with which I was not comfortable. When I was able to get a vaccine and returned, she changed her story and said she could not prescribe the 3rd step and that I had to see my personal physician. VERY unhelpful, and clearly only wants to collect her fees.

Receptionist is beyond rude and sassy on the phone. Absolutely 0 stars for customer service. On the other hand Dr. Palmer and her assistant Taylor are both lovely and deserve better.

Always a wonderful experience with Dr. Palmer and her entire staff. Maria and Peggy at the front desk are extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. Very satisfied with the care and attention I received from start to finish. I would highly recommend Dr. Palmer!

Wish I could give 0 stars. Worst dr visit ever. The staff is extremely rude and no sense of care. When Dr. Palmer isn’t pushing her own products she is nice and knowledgeable. I’ll never go back and suggest you don’t waste your time.

Today I ended a VERY longstanding relationship with Dr. Palmer over $50 because of her office staff. I tried to cancel an appointment for my daughter after hours but you aren’t allowed to leave a voicemail. The next day Maria said that I’d be charged $50 for the cancelled visit. I explained my daughter was sick. She still said I’d have to pay due to less than 24 hour notice. I told her to then take me and my husband out (annual skin cancer checks) and she then said she would waive it. I got a bill for the $50 on Saturday and brought it today. After much back and forth, they reneged on their offer to waive the $50. After a heated discussion, my husband and I left. Dr. Palmer wouldn’t even come speak to us about “billing.” Apparently her time is more important than mine. I’m so upset that I didn’t matter to her. I have been a patient of Dr. Palmer for over a year and have nothing but rewarding experiences with her. The moment you meet her you can tell that she sees you as whole person and not just another insurance billable patient. I would highly recommend trying Dr. Palmer.....She is truly THE BEST !!!

I had a rash on my hand that had been there for nearly a decade and misdiagnosed by other dermatologists as eczema. It was itchy, cracking, bleeding - really affecting my quality of life. Previous docs said there was nothing they do for me as eczema is not curable. Steroids prescribed to manage did nothing to help. I went to Dr Palmer desperate for help and she delievered! She diagnosed an allergy to a metal a work with daily and prescribed the medication and actions to clear up! All better!

Not only is Dr. Palmer a terrific and knowledgeable doctor, she has cleared up my cystic acne, post acne scars & uneven skin tone by simplifying my skin regimen instead of pushing creams & treatments as other dermatologist have done. She’s squeezed me in for cystic acne shots if I called on short notice & was very understanding when I had to cancel on short notice a couple of times. If your looking for the best dermatologist, look no further then Dr. Palmer.

Amazing! I came in for a breakout and she sat with me and gave me a whole new skin regimen that will work for me. I felt like I was in such great hands the whole time!

Dr Palmer is great! I came in for a general skin exam. She was very thorough and answered all of my questions.

I have recently been to two other dermatologists and there is no comparison. Dr. Palmer was amazing. Explained everything and spent time with you.

I have been seeing Dr. Palmer for several years. She is such a caring physician who truly cares about her patients. She spends time each visit to thoroughly examine and explain issues with me. Her positive nature is very appreciated, especially when going through more serious health issues. I would recommend Dr. Palmer to anyone looking for a dermatologist. She is tops in her field.

Dr. Palmer treated my 9 year old son. She was compassionate, eased his concerns and and absolute pleasure. She saw my son right away, spent time addressing our concerns and treated him immediately. Her office staff was responsive and friendly, the facility was immaculate. I highly recommend her!
