If your looking for a Dr with compassionate bedside mannerisms, who listens intently to your concerns and symptoms, who isn't short, rushed, condescending or arrogant; and most importantly takes preventive measures and practices preventive care.... DO NOT GO TO SEE DR. HAUGHEY. If you have an issue/diagnosis, he will want you to wait until it causes more problems or gets worse before he takes action. His PA is who you will have more indepth conversations with, who will listen in detail to what your concerns and symptoms are, andcshowvyou some type of compassion or concern.

Dr Haughey failed my Father. After 3 surgeries back to back all within a year to remove the cancer, my Father’s follow up scans would still show cancer in his neck, after each surgery. After the 3rd biopsy results came back positive, instead of sitting down with my Dad explaining that the cancer was still there, he had his secretary to call him and say tht the biospy was positive, and tht it’s nothing else that can be done, please follow up with your Oncologist. Completely Cold. Leaving my Dad to fend for himself with a bleeding neck that wont stop bleeding caused by the last surgery. If you are looking for a doctor tht has COMPASSION- then he is not the doctor/surgeon for you.

My experience with Dr Haughey was terrible. Soo many awful details to get into I will list just a couple. The biggest : My 2nd surgery did not go well but this was the opposite information I received in recovery in fact there were little to no notes. He called my husband on our way home and said what he did and to get some rest no indication that something went wrong. 48 hrs later I was in the ICU intubated. A horrifying week later I went home. Side note: When in the ICU my family requested a 2nd opinion on when the tube should be taken out and he was extremely offended by this in fact quite angry (huge red flag) 3 weeks later he admitted that their were complications with my surgery … Beyond his scary medical care, his bedside manner was no better which was generally condescending, even misogynistic at times. Please consider looking elsewhere for you or your loved ones medical needs especially if you are a female or identify as one. It has taken me months to process and build up the nerve to write this because my experience was so awful! But, if I can save people from the stress and pain it’s worth it! I had enough of this Surgeon, went for a visit and found out what an unprofessional attitude he has. I interrupted him with question and was annoyed of my questions by Rolling his Eyes at me, Yes Comical. I Won't post the things he said to me horrible and graphically frighting, that I refused to let him operate on me. But what he thought was best, to contact the Spiritual center at the hospital. To inform them I was in need....The Nerve of you, think you are more incline to use their services. But Know This, I will never return back to your office. Staff is wonderful, pleasant as always. Horrible experience. From the doctor bringing a crowd of students into the consultation room without informing me beforehand to his arrogant attitude. He abruptly left the room as soon as the conversation bored him and left me with more questions than answers. I was instructed to contact the "patient advocate" who was consistently belligerent and I was left in the dark concerning any questions I had. Amazing and talented surgeon. My brother was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer a year ago and Dr Haughey was able to remove the tumor when 3 other surgeons in 2 different countries deemed him not a surgical candidate. My family and I will be forever greatfull to him and his team.

I am so impressed with this Dr.’s group. My mother was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. Our Oncology Dr.’s recommended having Dr. Haughey take a look at her case. We were so anxious going in because of what were told. I had never seen my mother so worried, understandably so. The wait was minimal. Dr. Haughey walked in and there was an immediate sense of calm. He was so caring and listened to all of our concerns. He examined my mom and his confidence and method of explanation made us decide to go with his suggestions. We are so glad we did. Our interactions with Vanessa, his assistant, were absolutely wonderful. She was so pleasant and explained everything she was going to do prior to doing it. Celia, the SLP was so friendly and also very professional. I can recommend Dr. Haughey and his team with absolute confidence! They are the reason that my mother is CANCER FREE!!!! Your kindness and amazing ability have given me my mother back and given my mother her life back.

Wasted 3 months of time, money, and commute to have nothing done. My primary care doctor did an ultrasound on me, and saw 2 nodules. Which I don't really know if they even are nodules because the biopsy that was recommended by my doctor was never done. I'm sure he's confident, but without the tests you can't just jump to conclusions. I first made an appointment in May. I was called back about a week before my appointment to be rescheduled another month out. Come June, and I waited one hour in the office to be told by Dr. Magnussen (about 5 mins in the actual patient room) that the biopsy was a quick procedure to be done by ANOTHER doctor (Dr. Haughey) the next appointment. Even with all my needed documents, nothing was done this first appointment which I missed work for to go. The next appointment, another month of waiting. It was in July and waited for half an hour to have the same ultrasound my primary had done to me and was told he was sure everything was good. I understand, but the result of all of this was the same I had gotten from the start. My primary requested for a biopsy to be done, so that's what should be done to take all precautions necessary. I left very unhappy and felt as if I got nothing done. I'm in no way trying to bash, I only want to make others aware so they can choose wisely who to go to. I am a retired physician and was recently referred to Dr Haughey by another physician for a second opinion as to the most appropriate and effective treatment for my vocal cord cancer. He was very friendly, confident, and beautifully explained his choice of treatment for me with extensive data to support his reasoning. He is an excellent internationally known surgeon and a very caring kind man. My outcome is excellent - I heartily recommend him as a master in his field.

Had a consultation with him and he brought crowd of students into the office without informing me. Informed me I had a significant chance of cancer so needed thyroidectomy. Told me he would not approve any amount of hospital stay regardless of the fact that I suffer from chronic pain and live an hour's drive away. Also said he would not manage my pain for any period of time and it was up to me to find a doctor to do that. Patient advocate belligerent. Would not return my only copy of my records

Dr. Bruce Haughey is truly a brilliant doctor and surgeon. I feel extremely blessed to be among his patients and will always be grateful and thankful for his professionalism, honesty and unbelievable bedside manner. He proved this with the oral cancer surgery he performed on my husband that I believe saved his life. He helped me understand the diagnosis and procedure required answering all my questions.
