Worst experience and total waste of my $325!!! I go in because of a throat concern and all he did was check my breathing and my stomach for any pain. I was there for damn near 2 hours and that was all he did! I would advise people to stay away from this place so they don't waste their money and time.

Very experienced doctor and lovely staff.

Doctor Patel expects my transportation to check me in and then wait in their vehicle for up to an hour to an hour and a half in 100 plus temperatures. What kind of people do this especially a ! "Doctor"

Dr patel and staff on surgery side were outstanding. I would give them 10stars. The reception ist on office side would get 0 stars. I was put on hold every time I have called and waited at least 20 minutes on hold. The last time after 21 minutes I was disconnect ed and called back to only reach a answering machine. With a heavy heart, and SCARED I was going to loose my mother just a couple of days ago, I can tell you all the ONLY Doctor that called everyday to check on my mother's well-being was Dr. Patel and Miss. Camilla. Thank you Heavenly Father, that my mom is still with us and doing better. Thank you Dr. Patel for reaching out to my father everyday since you found out my mother was rushed to San Antonio hospital. I have not met Dr. Patel, but his ACTIONS speaks loud and clear that he CARES. The entire staff were friendly and helpful. Dr Patel was very kind and helpful also. They all took time to answer my questions when I knew they were extremely busy. I would recommend them to everyone that may need his services. They made me feel relaxed. They are #1 in my book. You will not be disappointed!!!

He was the first doctor to really take me seriously/ cut the bs and ordered a range of tests. Doing so he found out I had IBD and peptic ulcers.

My husband had a procedure done at this office February 2021. The morning of his procedure we were asked to pay upfront estimated charges. I was surprised at this since my prior experience is that the provider files a claim first then bills for any charges not paid by insurance. We’re due about $586 back according to our insurance. I’ve made numerous phone calls to Dr. Patel’s office and also their billing company. Each time I’m told to call the other party. Last phone call was to Dr. Patel’s and no surprise I was told to their billing.i called billing and was told they would send a request for refund to Dr. Patel and it would take 3-5 weeks for a refund. Five weeks has gone by so I called Melissa at Dr. Patel’s office and she said she doesn’t know anything about it and that she would write Dr. P a note. Wow! This organization is quick to collect the money but is slower than sh-t to refund. Update: Dr. Patel refunded me the money I was owed personally and apologized for his horrible office staff. So thanks Dr. Patel for trying to correct the situation. And I hope you find some better employees. Original post: This is the absolute worst doctor's office I have ever encountered. Their practices are completely unethical and the staff is unknowledgable. I was given a price for a procedure and agreed and payed an initial fee of $325. A week before the scheduled procedure they called to inform me the price had more than doubled! I asked why and when did the prices change? They had no answers. The lady I was speaking to told me she had been there 7 years and had no idea about their procedures or how anything worked in the office! I asked for a refund of the $325 since I was no longer able to afford the procedure and they said it was nonrefundable. So they basically stole $325 from me under false pretenses during a pandemic. How much lower can you get. I will be reporting this office to the Texas Medical Board. If you are considering using this doctor please find another doctor. We need to be patient advocates for each other and not fall victim to unethical medical practices. Dr Patel is great at his profession. I love how he explains everything & involves me in my care plan, however his staff is pretty bad. Apparently, the refills I’m in need of are contingent on Tiffany doing her job, but Tiffany hasn’t done her job & im told no one can help me & I can’t leave a message for Tiffany because she’s already aware what’s in her workload. I have to call when she’s available to take calls to see if she has time to do her job. Dr Patel is great at his profession. The best! I know some people in other reviews experienced bad service with the office staff but this was not my experience at all. I think they may have gotten a whole new staff or something because these ladies were fabulous! Highly recommended!

Do not use this provider at any cost. If your primary doctor refers you to this place, immediately ask for another referral. Here is my story. Try to follow along with the fiasco that is Dr. Kavan Patel and his band of clueless minions. 1. 2/3/21 - Initial consultation with Patel and colonoscopy set for 2/26/21. GoLytely (cleanout med) prescribed at that time. 2. Pharmacy says GoLytely on backorder and they will call when it gets in. 3. I get to the Monday before procedure 2/22/21 and still no word from pharmacy so I call pharmacy. They tell me to contact the prescribing doctor and have it changed because the warehouse is out of it. 4. I call Patel office. I tell the girl who answers the situation and she was SHOCKED that anyone from Midwest Gastro prescribed that because it had been out nationwide for quite awhile. They change it to Suprep. 5. Pharmacy calls and says insurance must approve Suprep. I call back to the Patel office to make sure they got pre approval be

Let me tell y'all... If not for the fast acting NP and Dr. Patel, my husband would not be here today. They felt the lump and ordered STAT testing and within 5 days he was on the surgery table having Stage III Colon cancer removed. With the fast diagnosis and no BS attitude, my husband and father to my kids was CANCER FREE 8 months later!!! Chemo/labs/radiology/surgery/appts... The calls just to check up and sometimes to make things happen faster... Him and his team will always have our respect. IDC what any of these reviews say! He saved my husbands life and i know numerous others who share the same story!!! People will find anything to cry about!!

Only time I saw or talked to the doctor was at test. Office staff calls for co-pay before test, was told would cancel if you do not pay first. Office closed to public had to pay at back door. Over charged, when insurance paid them I called for my refund, was told if would take 6 to 8 weeks. After 5 calls to office finally got a check. Took 4 months for them to refund for over charging. This is the most unprofessional doctors office that I have ever been to in Abilene Tx.

Dr. Patel was a great provider, how his office staff is the absolute worst. They are rude and condescending. They treat you as if you are a bother by following- up on things they fail to do. I’ve been told several times Tiffany is too busy to do her job, so my refills will have to wait, I have been offered to pickup free samples. Which they’ll give me a few pills that I run out of within days, so I’ll have to make numerous trips there until Tiffany does her job & I don’t live close to this place AT ALL. Never an apology for the inconvenience. It even feels like they enjoy it. meanwhile I’m out of the meds I need.

Would not recommend to ANYONE!! Will NOT return!!! Dr Patel is ok, don’t think he really cares about his patients. But his staff is extremely non caring ,rude and unprofessional. Better customer service at McDonald’s... I’d rather go to the ER!!!!!

I saw Yogi after being treated horribly by Garlapati in Abilene. I went from bad to worse. Yogi had booked three appointments with me (telemedicine visits, of course) and I only got to speak to him once. I called his incompetent, condescending staff for the two subsequent visits and they said that they had no record of ever talking to me! All of them including Yogi were extremely rude and it is obvious that they only care about collecting money for their office visits and don’t have any desire to help sick people. I think it takes real bravery to act tough and bully sick people. Oh well. What goes around comes around in the end and they will eventually get sick and be in pain. I sincerely hope that if they do that they can find compassionate people that will help them and not have to be treated like they treat other people. I really hope they read these reviews and do some soul searching, but this day in time I seriously have my doubts. It seems that doctors just don’t care anymore.

They had my 70 yr old COPD Dad come in from 45 minutes away to get test results that couldve been given over the phone. I guess they wouldnt collect in office fee then... Dr Yogi Patel is soooo wonderful, wise educated diagnosis, patient friendly, confident, on the scene of new medications and techniques. Dr. Patel was very quick to recognize my problem and get the recommend procedures scheduled. He was very to the point explaining everything which I appreciate. He also hooked me up with a great team of doctors to get my situation taken care of.

Does not have the staff to send referrals for surgery in a timely manner.

Super rude staff, doctor didn't even do an exam. He told me my son was fine. My son had to be ambulances to Cook Children's and hospitalized for a week.

Terribly managed office. On two separate occassions we checked in 15 min early, was not checked back until 15 after appt than waited almost an hour to see the provider. Upon 1st visit, front office entered information incorrectly multiple times and had to have a referral corrected before receiving services. Waited 2 hours in the waiting room on our second visit for a 5 minute visit with no resolve to medical condition. Called days later because prescription was never sent to pharmacy to then be given different directions from the receptionist than what the doctor said. Absolute nightmare! Dr. Patel sees my whole family! Me, my husband, his parents and both of my small children!! He genuinely cares about his patients and even goes out of his way to come see you if he knows you’re in the hospital. He’s had most of the same patients for over 10 years! Now that’s worth bragging about!

I saw this Drbone time.?-He was RUDE unprofessional and had me in years before I left the office.? His staff is highly rude and unprofessional. Dr Patel is a joke. My son also went to him, His PA called one time and stated everything was normal than two days later she said OOPS we made a mistake. There was a infection. Get it right!!!! COMMUNICATION

Man, I wish I would have read these reviews before I took my son to see him. Horrible communication. Contradicting diagnosis’s. I don’t cate how busy he is. My child is #1! Finding another GI now!

The only good thing we encountered with Dr Patel is a referral to the best GI surgeon in Texas that fixed the problem. Dr. Patel is NOT the GI our family would recommend for any issues. It seems he messed up and tried covering himself on the mistake made on patient. No recommendation from us here- we found the better physician for the job of taking care of our loved one during the time of need. Please go back and think of WHY you wanted to become a physician Dr Patel- not for money!

I took my son to Dr Patel at the beginning of the 2018. My son had been having symptoms for 8 years. Dr Patel said he didn't feel anything was wrong with my son because his symptoms didn't wake him up in the middle of night. Six months after first appointment my son ended in up in ER and blood work and CT showed abnormalities. He now has new GI Dr 3 hours away and suspects my son has Chrons or Ulcerative Colitis. New GI Dr genuinely shows he cares.

As a new patient I expect so much more. The staff was friendly the first time I was seen. I hope you don’t need actual care if your seeing him though. I called the office weekly and was always promised a result or a return phone call and never received either. They never even requested any of my records from my previous doctor. After 2 months I finally decided I need a doctor who actual does something and cares about his patients. His staff could use a bit of education on manners as well.

Beware hidden charges they will demand a deposit even if your insurance pays 100%,called me 3 days before colonoscopy demanding $449 even after insurance called to say would pay %100 I declined and will find a more ethical Doctor to deal with

If I could give less than one star I would. Not because of Dr. Patel himself but because of his office staff. We have been trying for over 2 months to get infusion orders sent to an infusion center. Office manager Connie is ALWAYS confused and has to be reminded of previous conversations we have had. She will tell us she has sent in requests that have never been sent. When you call the office you get put on hold immediately sometimes for so long that the call gets sent to a voicemail. The office staff is TERRIBLE and wee will be changing doctors because of it. MY ADVICE IS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE THEY ACTUALLY CARE. YOUR HEALTH IS TOO HIGH OF A PRIORITY TO GO HERE. If I could give less than one star I would. His goal is to run as many people through the door as possible. He ran 2 test and then ask me to do a follow up appointment 6 months later. Completely ignored my symptoms. When I called about the results of tests (as instructed) staff was extremely rude. Also had a severe allergic reaction to meds prescribed. Call his office and was told he was out of the country. Staff told me they didn’t think my problem was from the meds. Told to continue meds. Had to go to the emergency room. STAY AWAY!

Avoid if at all possible. If referred by your PCM, get another referral asap. Our daughter has been seeing him for three months and she still suffers from the same problems as when she went in. She has lost 10 pounds and we have had no recourse but to go to ER to try and get the situation resolved. Patel practices assembly line medicine like some other doctors today. He schedules test after test to maximize revenue from the insurance. We have filed a formal complaint to our insurance co.

After reading these 1 Star reviews, I found it necessary to respond !! I had 2 different procedures done in August 2017 & I have met few doctors that have as excellent bedside manners as Dr Patel !! Yes the wait is longer than patients like to wait, but no longer than other physicians & a lot shorter wait than some !! I found him to be quite knowledgeable , very friendly & pleasant and yes, I would highly recommend him to my family and friends !! Brenda in Brownwood

Disappointed with both staff and doctor. Waited to be seen after receptionist finished her personal texting. Saw the PA who within in a couple of minutes diagnosed acid reflux. No testing of any sort, just her opinion. Asked to see the doctor the next day and the doctor himself if I wanted to waste my money I could come back. Expensive to find out they are rude and uncaring.

Wait was 3 hours long. He sent my 4 year old for surgery on his hemorrhoids when it wasnt needed (according to my sons surgeon) all he needed was fiber and probiotics was what the surgeon and a couple of pediatricians told me. Patel should have recommended that first.

I thought I was coming in for a scan, but apparently he had scheduled me for an invasive procedure instead. He's not forthcoming with information, so try someone else if you're not prepared to ask the right questions.

I have known Dr. Patel as a patient, and at the hospital where I work. All I can say is he is an awesome Dr. , and I love him as my Dr. He explains what's going on, and why and anytime I have questions he answers them. I would recommend him to anyone. He's the best.

Dr. Patel is a wonderful Dr. And vary caring. Plus the Staff is vary nice and vary caring as well. He found a Cancer mass in my mother that other Dr.'s missed. So now mother is cancer free 5yrs with no relapse. Thank you SO much. ????

What an amazing doctor! Dr. Patel is professional, kind, and respectful. He works swiftly and effectively. He performed an emergent procedure on our 3 year old daughter. He kept us well-informed every step of the way. He was so kind and friendly to our daughter from the moment he met her in the Hendrick ER. He made all of us feel very comfortable.

If U want to Spend A lot of money for Little or No Insight, I Recommend Him. I spent 2 Months calling them for my results Every time I was told they would call me back the next day & never heard from them. I still haven't heard from him, My Wife said He told Her after my procedure I have a Small Hymnal Hernia, the report I finally got 2 months latr showed all was fine?!?! Did not inform me of how to treat/give me insight! Hey 4 Months latr I receive another bill?!? Good Luck if You Use Him...

Could not see the doctor, either Dr. Or staff insensitive to my request to be seen in a timely manner. Waited more than one and a half hours, had to walk out of room or miss my flight.

Would never recommend this Dr to anyone. I lost my grandmother because this Dr failed to meet her medical needs. He had the worst bedside manner than any other Dr I've ever met. Wish I could say I'm surprised but, I'm not. Guess that's what happens when you only have Medicare.
