Could not be better. Outstanding. In 2018, I started experiencing excruciating pain in the left side of my head. I wont use the term headaches, because the pain associated with my problem was several fold anything any headache I have ever experienced. Eventually, my diagnosis was Trigeminal Neuroglia. Neurologists attempted to treat with pharmacological options. Each of which worked for a bit, but then not. After 7 drug options failed, I was referred to Doc Schievink. Met with him on Monday, JUne 9. After a 20 minute consult, I was booked into surgery on Thursday, June 19. After a 5 hour operation, my underlining problem was fixed. My care was great, although one day in a hospital is one too much. People travel from great distances to be treated by Doc Schievink. My experience was great. Everyone experiences life events differently. The reviews for this surgeon certainly affirm that. However, if you are considering something as important as neuro surgery, don't base your decisions upon Google reviews. For restaurants, yes. For surgeons, no. Could not be better. Outstanding. Dr. Wouter Schievink is by far the worst surgeon I have ever met. He is unprofessional, degrading and his assistant Rachelle is even worse. The CSF community is in desperate need of more specialists, especially those who truly care about their patients and have a heart for helping people who suffer from this all too frequent devastating condition. If you're looking for a provider who cares, look elsewhere. You'll be glad you did. Dr. Wouter Schievink is by far the worst surgeon I have ever met. I have never had a worse experience with a doctor. Not only did I not receive any help during my appointment, he flat out refused to talk to me or answer any questions that I asked. His nurse practitioner CRIED in the room through my entire appointment and didn't say a word. I'm still completely puzzled by my experience. Additionally, I'm dealing with billing issues because his staff did not file prior authorizations despite making me believe that they did. Again, I have never experienced so many red flags with a provider. I haven't reviewed a doctor in well over a decade but this was so far beyond a normal patient/doctor experience.

Takes OVER 4 months to process new patient paperwork because: 1.) They don't answer the phone 2.) They don't return phone calls 3.) Don't receive OR search for referrals from my doctor's office 4.) Don't receive OR search for faxes from my health insurance provider 5.) Doesn't ever clean out the voicemail inbox 6.) Doesn't open medical files On top of all of these negative things: sends condescending letter to me since I sent multiple emails with the above complaints. See a doctor who hires staff that care. Most unprofessional doctor I ever saw! Rude, cold, uncaring and heartless are the best words to describe him!

Do not come here.....my neurologist recommend me here because of a csf leak and they told me 3 to 4 weeks before I can be seen.......nope that's how long it took them just to do the referral. You'd think people who deal with csf leaks would try and hurry.

I had hemifacial spasm and I was the one that diagnosed myself, no neurologist could because it is a rare condition. I took my MRI's to Dr.Schievink, he comfirmed my diagnosis and said he can do the surgery. I was referred to him because my neurologist said he is one of the best brain surgeons out there ! Before the surgery he answered all my questions but the problem started after the surgery, when he did not even come by me for over a day. I had to literally beg the nurses for him to come see me, because my coming out of the surgery was not easy, had some stomach, low blood pressure and migraine issues. Also my spasms were still there ! He finally came after I requested him maybe 10 times! And he stayed maybe 3 mins and said it will be fine, that's it! And this attitude of him lasted during the follow up visits as well. I kept asking him why my spasms were not cured and he just told me "don't worry, it will get better". Yes, he likes joking, and talking to you with a smiley face but this is a serious health issue and he made me feel like he did not care because he's done with me after the surgery and moved on ! And my spasms are still there, after paying all that money and going through a brain surgery. Not even once he followed up with me, so I stopped going to him after 3 follow up visits. And now I am thinking of a 2nd surgery with another surgeon, because him and his team did not succeed on the first one ! I had hemifacial spasm and I was the one that diagnosed myself, no neurologist could because it is a rare condition. Dr. Schievink is a great surgeon. With his perseverance and skill he was able to surgically fix the 2 different injuries caused by a bad labor epidural. I owe my life to him and his work. He was always kind to me and my family.

I'm not sure why this review took so long to write, but Dr. Schievink quite simply saved my wife's life in 2016. To keep a long story short, Seana suffered an initial ruptured aneurysm which further ruptured during surgery, almost completely eliminating our hopes. Fortunately, Dr. Schievink and his associates (Robert Noruse) were so skilled and dedicated that Seana is now very close to being fully recovered, despite all expectations that she might never walk, talk, breath or eat on her own again. We are thankful every day that Dr. Schievink happened to be available that day and thereafter, to perform both of her surgeries and to keep an eye on her continued recovery. Five stars simply aren't enough to express our thanks to this exceptional surgeon. I'm not sure why this review took so long to write, but Dr. Schievink quite simply saved my wife's life in 2016. This man saved my life !! Literally!! If he wouldn't be across country I would take any issue I have to him and Ceder Sinai. I NEVER been treated so professionally, caring and he is such a well respected man. I was labeled an anorexia and had hundreds of test. Bless John Hopkins for persuading me to see him ASAP. He is so SMART with his team, upfront and I felt we could have a beer together. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY would recommend this professional !!!!!

I had a bike accident, then I've been with a spontaneous CF leak, after 6 weeks at 3 hospitals I ended up with Dr Schievink, He had found the location of my cf leak at a blood vessel going to a vein between T8 & T9, who knows why! Im so grateful He found it, I had already 4 blood patches but they haven't worked completely... I have scheduled surgery next week, a titanium implant right on the spot with Dr Schievink. Cant wait to have my life back!

Having Dr. Schievink as my attending physician resulted in a terrible experience. He missed my diagnosis completely. He also refused to help me transfer to another hospital that had already accepted me. He is arrogant and rude.

Dr. Schievink smiled and acted like my neurological issues were humorous to him. He was disinterested and dismissive. This doctor may be an expert, but his bedside manner is atrocious. I left his office feeling humiliated.

Pretty much saved my life when no one else would listen to me. I had an undiagnosed spinal leak for years after having my son. I couldn't get any other Dr. to agree that it could be a spinal leak. I emailed Dr. Schievink and he responded right away agreeing that it could very well be a spinal leak as I knew it was. He had me scheduled for an MRI soon after and diagnosed and fixed within weeks. I have no idea where I would be without him. Incredible Dr. So thankful I found him!

Dr. Schievink and his team of anesthesiologists and radiologists had the skill to identify and repair a spinal fluid leak that other physicians were unable to diagnose or locate. My surgery and stay at Cedars Sinai were unexpected but I could not have had a better experience and could not have had a better surgeon or support team. I will always be thankful that I found Dr. Schievink. and that he was available to help me.

I have received treatment from Dr. Scheivink and have no relief from my chronic headaches. I have had these for over 6 years now and it seems like there is no solution in sight. I keep on getting the same treatments I have had in the past with no results. Getting discouraged.
