Dr. William Andrew Wilkinson III

I had an ovation torsion back in 2011 I believe (I was only 14 at the time), and had to have emergency surgery to fix it. Wilkinson was on call and performed the surgery. He botched the surgery and left me with internal bleeding. I had to have a second surgery and a blood transfusion. After the first surgery I never heard from him again. A second surgery came and fixed the issue. I was never given an explanation or anything from Wilkinson. I understand that surgeons are just people but the whole experience was absolutely terrible and traumatizing. I love St. Luke’s as a hospital and have had many successful surgeries with other surgeons. His professionalism and skill level just weren’t there for me.

Grandma had a procedure done and he didn't fully or correctly put her out/medicate her. She told him during the procedure that it hurt, but he said, "oh you're going to be ok" and continued the whole procedure(a serious one that no one should even be awake and feeling!!). I had an emergency appendectomy and this is the on-call surgeon that I got. He did a good job on the procedure, my scars are great and I had no complications..but his bedside manner is horrendous! I've had surgeries before, but was actually kind of scared going in to this one because of his bedside manner. He also made me feel like a moron for being swollen and still in a lot of pain 2 weeks post-op. If you want to feel well cared for, I would not recommend him.
