I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Portas; however, it's extremely frustrating that their entire office shuts down for an hour and a half for lunch. They don't accept any calls for 90 minutes. Down to earth, business minded professionals, who approach skin care in a reasonable fashion. Having two medical professional children ourselves, as well as skin concerns, I have appreciated their medical care, professionalism, and efficiency with all things related to the skin care of our family, and am so glad we found them!

While it was totally my fault that I was 10 minutes late, the front desk was quick to tell me that they might not see me, she would have to check. There was only 1 other person in the waiting room. She came back and said I would have to reschedule my short skin check. I apologized for being late but got nothing in return when they would not see me. I realize they don't need me as a patient, so me not going back is no big deal to them. The way it was handled was probably my biggest issue. I had never read their reviews but after now reading them, I see I am not the only one. This business needs to update their patient information, stating that they are not accepting new patients. They should also hire some new staff with a personality.

Possibly worst provider ever, terrible bedside manner and office staff is downright horrible, avoid at all cost...

The customer service here is horrible, don't arrive even 1 minute late. I've been trying to be seen for over 6 months, I also agree with the other reviews about the front desk staff.

This review is only related to those who answer the phone - I was never able to schedule and appointment or be seen here. I called in and was rudely told to “call back when it’s not over lunch hours.” I’m sorry, then why even bother answering just to say this? I called back again and was told to immediately hold, after minutes on hold I was told they are not accepting new patients. Even if they were, I would look elsewhere considering how their representives act on the phone - yikes! Definitely room for improvement by your staff. First, this is not directed at the doctors in any way- only the people working the administrative and billing side of things. I called and rescheduled my appointment twice and since it was inside of the 24 hour period, I was charged a $35 fee each time. Mind you, this was NOT communiciated when I called to reschedule these appointments, my new date was provided to me and nothing more was said. I recently received a bill for $70 and when I called, the receptionist acted like I was a fool for not realizing the reason - I wanted to know why I was being charged when I simply rescheduled. Because I called inside of 24 hours. So, if you still want to visit this office, please keep this in mind because it will NOT be communicated to you. I find this absolutely ridiculous especially with a current pandemic going on. I have always had a positive experience as a patient here but the new front desk staff is absolutely AWFUL. I went to my appointment after driving in from grad school over 3 hours and was greeted by a rude woman at the front desk. After seeing the other recent reviews I’m sure it was the same person described. They also can’t even keep their phone calls straight or accurate records of when patients walk in the door. Front desk staff is rude and has horrible customer service but the dermatologist is so nice

Hard to be seen. I tried to schedule a visit about a possible melanoma & was given an appointment 3 months out. If it is cancerous, that's obviously too long of a wait. I was told that more frequent patients are prioritized with scheduling. (Mind you I've been a patient for more than 10 years!)

I didn't really think that any doctor could live up to the stereotype you see in movies. I have even given him several chances to redeem himself...but same result. he walks in the room, no eye contact at all, asks what do you want?, and then walks out. this has happened every time for my experiences, and several other people. unfortunately no other dermatologists are taking patients in the area. but its a cold uninviting experience all around...
