I had multiple disc cervical spine surgery scheduled for March 31, 2022. I've had numerous other surgeries and, even though the surgeries were successful, I had so much difficulty immediately afterwards. Severe nausea, bloating, vomiting and sweating. Typically I had to stay in the hospital a couple extra days while the nurses treated me round-the-clock for post-anesthesia sickness. One nurse even stopped on the way to work to buy some ginger at a health food store as all other meds failed to control the sickness after three days. My wife and I talked to Dr. Anist during my pre-op just prior to the surgery and discussed this with him. He listened to us. He was very attentive. He came up with an alternative to the usual anesthesia for me. When I woke up in Recovery, it was like waking up from a nap. It was wonderful. I was able to leave the hospital the next day. I am very grateful to Dr. Anist. This was the best experience I've ever had after surgery thanks to him.

Dr. Anast never introduced himself. Standing in the hallway he said "So you want this block? I have to do it if you don't refuse it." I said "Well, my surgeon recommended it? He said "Well then I have to do it if you won't refuse it" The nurse pushed over the ultrasound machine. He said "Oh, I don't use that, I'm old school. She then asked him if he wanted a #-- or a#-- needle. He asked her how big are they?? He started marking the back of my knee with an ink pen - His HANDS WERE SHAKING SO BAD -Dr. Anast was not able to draw a straight line. He stuck me and started wiggling the needle around. I cried out in pain. He pulled it out and stuck me again. The nurse said "I'm going to give you some happy juice". I remember him sticking me a third time. My husband was standing at the head of my bed and said he stuck me 3 or 4 additional times, each time I cried out in pain. All of this resulted in NO BLOCK. My husband said he was shaking so bad he thought Dr. Anast may have been on something?
