Too long of a wait. May have been good at one time but now fumbles to turn on a light not impressed.

Rude and no compassion for patient or fellow staff members. Does not have patients best interest in mind, very ego driven. Berated "his" NP right in front of me because she advocated for me to have a test done that he wanted to deny me. Very uncomfortable appointment and he clearly uses intimidation to get people to do what he wants. No respect for his peers and even less respect for patients. For some reason my reviews aren't showing here.

My husband went to Dr Hicks for esophageal cancer. He did his 2 surgeries. He was quite rude to me when we went for a follow up visit to get the numerous stitches out. He screamed at me for not scrubbing his neck hard enough and I said I did it the way the nurses told me to. He removed my husbands trach and said he didn’t need ut anymore . I asked if it would close up and he said no. I asked about inserting a sleeve to keep it open and he said no .This was in August of 2021 . As of 2/11/23 my husband is in intensive care because the stoma is closing up he can’t breathe. The doctor here put a small trach in. He needs surgery to put a bigger trach in.The doctor here called Dr. Hicks two or three times. He called today on the 11 of February and told him this one isn’t working and could they transfer him for surgery. Dr Hicks said he wouldn’t do the surgery and that my husband isn’t welcome there. A highly accomplished doctor who's manner may sometimes come across as arrogant. My confirmed Webex "virtual" appointment with him today was over 2 hours late and ultimately done by one of aides via phone (less than 5 minutes). Not the kind of professionalism promoted by RPCI.

Very positive. Seems very capable.

Dr. HIcks is a great doctor and I have full confidence in him and his abilities. Easy to talk to, listens well. But, the appointments are a nightmare. I have never been out of the office in under 2 hours for a 10 minute appointment. so, take a book, charge your phone, come prepared to wait.

I drove 2 1/2 an hours to see Dr. Hicks, i don't mind waiting, he is well worth the wait, but waiting four hours is a little excessive.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, making your visit a positive experience.

Roswell always has the most professional and knowledgeable staff.

Dr. Hicks is very through. Kind, gentle spends time answering all questions. My husband is Dr Hicks patient. We are so blessed to be under Dr Hicks care.

Dr Hicks is an exceptional physician who takes top-notch care of his patients. First and foremost, he is highly skilled and regarded within his specialty. Also, Dr. Hicks is held in high esteem by his colleagues and staff. He is accessible to his patients and truly listens to their concerns. I give him not only the highest rating, I give him the highest respect.

Dr.Hicks is very thorough and answers any questions you may have.I have great confidence in him.

Dr Hicks has monitored my larynx cyst concerns for many yrs.His genuine and serious concern convinced me to quit smoking after 48 years. I feel he probably saved my life with his direct and attention getting comments

A great concerning thorough doctor

Dr Hicks is very thorough and caring in his expertise of cancer care. I have been seeing him for many years and completely trust his recommendations. Because his expertise is cancer, I understand longer wait times at the office - you would want him to explain everything with you, so let him explain to someone else, too! He is very caring and explains what is happening so that understanding is easier.

A recent virtual visit was concluded with notes in my file that stated I was rude and that my concerns about Dr. Hicks not washing his hands and scratching his buttocks in view of patients was discussed with him. In the notes it did not spell out what my concerns were, just that Dr. Hicks wants to discharge me as his patient, so much for him willing to discuss any concerns of his patients. I wrote a letter requesting that the notes be changed to reflect my concerns in detail, but as I guessed, my request was denied. In the event there is a response to this post, let me clear up why they said I was rude. My virtual appointment was scheduled for 9:30 a.m., after not getting a call I called the office twice. In the early afternoon I was contacted and was told they called my number but it was out of service, yeah I was aggravated, they had a number that I did not have for years. Funny how they had the right number to schedule the appointment in the first place.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hicks For almost 20 years. He is an excellent doctor - thorough, thoughtful and kind. I credit him with having saved my life some years ago, although he is to modest to agree. He’s the best and we are fortunate to have him in WNY.

Doctor hicks is brilliant..he just needs to be more sensative to his patients..dont be blunt..hight...size...is already intimidating...so dont be so serious..smile more patients need it.

Excellent doctor.

I took my 87 year-old father to his first appointment with Dr. Hicks. My worst experience at a medical facility ever! He had a 9:15 appointment and we did not get to see the doctor until about 11:40! My father mentioned to the doctor that he felt that long of a wait was unacceptable. My dad wasn’t rude about it. He just said he wasn’t happy about. Dr. Hicks went off on my dad. He was pretty rude to us and copped an attitude, saying he had a backlog of patients and is always behind. He said if you don’t want me to treat you then he could leave. He was also rude to his staff. I don’t care how good of a doctor he might be, but his bedside manner is awful. My dad never wants to see him again!

He provided excellent care, was reassuring, and I would highly recommend him.

I am very appreciative of Dr. Hick's expertise. My visits to him have been characterized by his extraordinary thoroughness and thoughtfulness. He takes the time to discuss the situation, solicits questions and input, and gives a clear description of the plan. We are fortunate to have hime here in WNY. We are also fortunate to have him in his leadership position at RPCI.

The care was professional, comprehensive and caring. I have a high level of satisfaction and confidence in selecting Dr. Wesley HickscandcRoswell.

We saw Dr. Hicks at Roswell Park. He spent very little time with us, but scheduled a CT scan. As a result of that scan, he told my wife that she probably had metastatic cancer. Fortunately we went to another doctor, who surgically removed the lump. There was no cancer, whatsoever, let alone metastatic cancer. The other doctor did not have the ego that Dr. Hicks had. I do not recommend Dr. Hicks, due to his tendency to mis-diagnose and his ego.

I had an appointment with Dr. Hicks but he was there when I got there for my appointment so I saw the PA instead. Actually, she was very sweet and patient and I liked her very much. She took her time to explain my results and to go over everything to me.

Excellent! Dr. Hicks has always provided excellent care. He doen't leave any stone unturned. I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for his exceptional care. Yes you always wait along time to get in to your appointment. Small price to pay to be in the hands of the best!

Dr. Hicks was my primary surgeon when I was dx with throat cancer. I am an ER RN, I have worked with many doctors over the years. Never have I experienced an MD with such disregard for his post-op patients. There is a reason why his applications to other medical centers were denied.

I am grateful to Dr. Hicks for providing exceptional care. His professionalism, detailed and specific office management led me to believe the same excellence would be found in the surgical suite. I was right and am thankful for a positive outcome. I received wonderful care by him and all I encountered at Roswell Park.

Although a prominent doctor the experience that we had was very poor. Dr. Hicks performed a biopsy on my father in May and the results were positive for cancer it took over two months and numerous phone calls and messages to get him seen again. In addition, every time we had an appointment with Dr. Hicks we waited 1.5 - 2+ hours. He only sees patients at Roswell Park on Tuesdays so appointments were always scheduled far out in advance. He has a poor bedside manner with little sensitivity.
