I am a critical care physician practicing in Richardson since 1984. 3 months ago I fell off my bicycle and broke my neck (1st cervical vertebrae, very unstable) I was taken to Presby Plano by EMS where I was met by Dr Loyola. Though I had never worked with him I have many close friends that have worked and operated with him and assured me I was in the best and most experienced hands. These assurances were not the perfunctory “he,s the best” accolades but rather were honest recommendations made by physician friends with first hand knowledge of Dr. Loyola’s expertise The surgery was not straightforward and required some innovation. The result was successful. Miraculously no neurological deficits of any kind. Thanks to Dr Loyola I am healing up well from an injury that could have been catastrophic without his expert help. I consider myself blessed to have had him as my neurosurgeon. The results of the surgery that I had on my cervical spine was a botched procedure in that during the first surgery he performed , a hole was made in my esophagus. The result of that was extremely painful infection over a period of two years. Two years of try this, try that, take more meds Finally a miracle happened. Two years is the key. Doctors can not be sued unless a claim is filed before two years have passed. I was left with a zingers diverticulitis in my esophagus which I deal with on a daily basis. Food gets caught in the pocket that was formed due to it being left unattended to for so long. To get the hole to close I had a feeding tube in my stomach because I could not swallow anything until the opening closed on it’s own. That took 46 days. I survived, but I’m reminded every day what happened when I eat a meal and some food gets trapped in my esophagus. Dr. Loyola operated on me almost 2 years ago for a bulging disc in my lower back. It was to the point I could not make it through a day. I could not do my job as an installer. Last month I went to Arizona and was able to hike over 32 miles and over 10000 ft of elevation change. Dr. Loyola gave me my life back. His manners and concern for my well being were exceptional. Dr. Loyola did my surgery in Jan 2016 on my L5 S1 herniated disc. I was in agony before the surgery but as soon as I woke up the pain was gone. I was so happy I cried. Dr. Loyola explained everything prior to my surgery and his staff was great at getting everything ready for me. Post op recovery was so easy - the pain never came back and my back no longer "went out". I was able to go back to work after 5 weeks of recovery and have felt great for the past 5 years.

Dr. Loyola did brain surgery for a concussion bleed. Prior to the procedure, he explained everything in detail, and even showed us some pictures of my brain to so that I knew what to expect going in. The procedure went very well. Post op discharge instructions were very informative and very useful in my immediate recovery. My followup exam after 2 weeks post op were equally good. He removed the staples, and again explained what we needed to do moving forward. Again, pictures of my brain showed us what was done, and compared the issues pre, then post operation. Dr. Loyola has a very calming demeanor that made me feel very comfortable not only with him personally, but in what he had done, and what needed to be done as we move forward.

Dr. Layora listens and cares and is very thorough in his exams, referrals for tests, explaining what they will be like and why he needs them, and one of the best neurosurgeons in the DFW/TX area. I say him 5 years ago and I did not blink when It was time to go back for another neck related matter. In my eyes, there is no better doctor. He is a genious. His office is very clean, the staff is compassionate and caring. Everyone is very professional. I trusted him then, made the right decision and trust him again. I encourage you to see him if you!

I had spinal cord surgery and was amazed by how knowledgeable he was. Recovery was incredibly easy as well. Even by the second day I felt completely normal. No pain and would recommend to anyone

I found this Doctor after being in pain for over 6 months. After having surgery that he performed I haven't had any problems since. Did I mention that this was back in 2001? He's the greatest. Dr. Loyola is always the person I recommend to everyone when they have a back issue. He's straightforward and I appreciated that he assured me I would be ok and told me how to care for myself so I wouldn't have anymore issues. Thank you. It truly saddens me to right this, but what has happened to me makes me increadibly sad and angry. I had laminectomy/discectomy in 2012 and cervical fusion in 2013. I have had pretty decent years since until this past year. I have a c4 and c7 bulge that is now causing severe pain. I called his office to make an appointment and his office staff refused. No reason as to why, just said we'll talk to him and see if he wants to see you. I never heard back. I'm at a complete loss.

Dr. Loyola is an amazing compassionate surgeon. I broke two bones in my neck from a car accident and he fit me in immediately for my procedure. I had no complications and my neck is doing great! I would highly highly highly recommend Dr.Loyola..

I had a neck fusion 3 levels the Dr. and his team were great I am still recovering

Dr. Loyola performed the surgical procedure microvascular decompression craniotomy (brain surgery) on me June 14, 2013 at Presbyterian Plano. He assured me he would take care of me with minimal scarring from the surgery. Unless I tell you, you would never know I had brain surgery. I have not had any pain from my disease trigeminal neuralgia since my surgery. Dr. Loyola and his staff was awesome to me!!!!!
