Dr. Wade T Mccoy

Donna Toombs 2608 Ashebury Way Edmond, OK 73013 I will forever be grateful to our family doctor, Wade McCoy, for his continual watch over my heart murmur. Early in 2000 Dr McCoy alerted me to the fact that I had a heart murmur. At every appointment from that time on he listened to my heart murmur, stating it was present but not irregular. However at my appointment last summer, he remarked that the murmur had changed and he wanted to refer me to a cardiologist. I had always taken good care of my body with my diet and exercise and didn’t feel any pain, but I trusted Dr. McCoy. After tests and procedures at the office of cardiologist, Dr Marcus Smith, I sat in his office for the results. He was shocked with what they had discovered, stating my aortic valve was more severe than any he had seen. The leaflets were so stiff that he was shocked blood could flow though and yet I had felt no symptoms. After many procedures at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, I learned that symptoms I had dismissed as the aging process were actually the symptoms of my unhealthy aortic valve. In February 2023 a very skilled surgeon, Dr. John Williams, administered the TAVR procedure. This week I return to the hospital for a 30-day Heart Valve follow-up appointment and will begin cardio rehab. I am on my way to becoming a healthy person with a healthy heart! Again, I am forever grateful to our family physician Dr. Wade McCoy, who for years never failed to listen to the sounds of my heart and noticed the irregularity before I had serious heart failure. Dr. McCoy is the best. He is so kind and listens! The staff was very friendly and got me taken care of quickly. Very pleased with my visit!

Dr Wade McCoyd helped me tremendously with my depression. I got better treatment from him than I did with a counselor. I never felt rushed with appointments or pushed to take medication that wouldn't suit me. Thank you Dr. Wade McCoyd

Staff not friendly. Keeps sending me to specialists. No follow-ups.

He is always there when i need him.

Dr McCoy never tries to rush me out. Is a very kind & caring Dr. He's been my Dr for years now.office staff is great.

I was a patient of the Gilbert Medical Center in Bethany, when I was a child and a patient of one of the Drs. Gilbert. It was comforting to me, when I moved back to OKC, to start my own family care at the same location. Our family has been seeing Dr McCoy and his nursing staff fairly soon after he opened his practice. Mostly like (20) + years. He is a wonderful, caring doctor. He is patient and kind. He has helped our family with and through many different needs and illnesses. Our family is very grateful. Dr McCoy and his staff work to provide the best possible solutions in family care. It can be meds, a therapy, a referral for speciality or surgery or a lab or xray. Our family believes Dr McCoy provides the best medical care he knows. He listens and is open to discussions to decide the best care needed. We cannot allow him to ever retire. We feel like we are treated as family.

Our family has been with Dr. McCoy since his early days at Gilbert Medical Center. He has seen us through many tough times. Very good listener and the staff is good to follow-up on things.

I'm an ICU nurse at a metro hospital. My family and I have been going to Dr. McCoy for >20 years. He's kind, knowledgeable and competent. I highly recommend him and his staff for family medicine needs.

Dr McCoy has been my daughters doctor for a few years now. He listens to you and takes your opinions on things into consideration. He has great bedside manner when talking about sensitive matters.I have recentlymoved an hour drive away, and after checking out a few doctors out here, are more than happy to make the drive. I also always get the children in pretty quickly. It's never a long wait, same day to next day in most cases. Dr McCoy has been my daughters doctor for a few years now. Unless you are in good health and don't need a Doctor, AVOID this place. They will not accept or keep any patients who are prescribed pain medicine. I only needed to change my PCP, not raid his medicine cabinet or prescription pad. WILL NOT ACCEPT me because I am prescribed pain medications. Really???!!!!

My family has been going to Dr. McCoy since he started his practice at Gilbert Medical Center. I find him to be very compassionate and knowledgeable. He takes time to explain things to you. I will go to him until the day I die.

He is a great family physician a very caring man, after 16 years I wouldn't leave him now, thank you Dr. McCoy

My mother had been going to Dr. McCoy for many, many years. She was recently diagnosed with a spinal compression fracture. His office staff initially scheduled her for a Kyphoplasty at Integris Baptist Hospital; however, later rescheduled her to have the procedure at Community Hospital because Baptist was booked out for 2 weeks. They never consulted or coordinated this procedure with her Cardiologist. In fact, at one point, they so rudely said, "we don't need his permission to perform this procedure or to take her off of her heart meds". When the Cardiologist was contacted by the family directly, the Kyphoplasty was immediately cancelled because he wanted to perform a stress test to make sure she was fit for the procedure. When finally given approval to proceed, I informed Dr. McCoy's nurse (Darlene) that the family wanted her to have the procedure done at Baptist instead of Community Hospital. At that point, his office told me, "we don't have the 2 hours to spend on getting her rescheduled at Baptist, and if that's what we wanted, we would need to find another doctor". What doctor does this?!?! Especially to an 86 year old woman that is in tremendous pain and is in need of her doctor's care? He and his office staff are without doubt the most unprofessional, unethical and uncompassionate group I have EVER met. Practically every time we called to ask a question about our mother's healthcare, they acted inconvenienced and were rude; often lying to us or telling us to call someone else because they were too busy. I don't know why some of the other reviews said they wouldn't recommend Dr. McCoy. He's always there, very caring, listens carefully, prescribes thoughtfully, knows what he's doing. What else could you ask for? Especially when Sharon and Darlene break their necks to get you in when you really need to see him. He's in Gilbert Medical Center on 23rd, and is a great family doctor.
