Horrible.
We stopped going to Dr. Bonagura after about three visits. After a “diagnosis” for my son, I did a lot of research on my own. He wanted to do monthly infusions that would likely be for a lifetime when my son was merely 5 years old. He did not try a more conservative approach FIRST and to see if he would outgrow this (as kids sometimes do by ages 8/9). This made me absolutely sick to my stomach.
I'm not sure when it became acceptable to be so completely wrapped up in your numbers, statistics and claiming rights, and to be so completely anesthetized to how you treat your patients. My not quite 3 month old infant granddaughter was brought to this office through an appointment made by Cohen's Children's Hospital. After a false diagnosis of a fatal disease, follow up blood work had to be drawn. We were told that this could ONLY be done at Dr. Bonagura's office by his staff. (Come to find out from the NYS Department of Health that this is not the case) After 6 failed attempts by two doctors and one nurse to draw blood from our infant, we had to take the baby and leave. If you are incapable of drawing blood from an infant, after 2 tries, the humane thing to do would have been to send her elsewhere. 4 tries? 6? As a parent, do you TRUST that the medical professionals know what they are doing? In this case, NO! I have NEVER heard a baby scream so hard. It left me shaking! At that poin

Horrible experience. We kept going back to keep consistency because it's hard to find a normal immunologist, but he kept making big mistakes - prescribing wrong dosage for a child and taking days to get back to the pharmacist along with other egregious errors. The whole fellow program he has going on doesn't work. One arm doesn't talk to the other and he forgets what he told us and tells us conflicting things.
