Dr. Veena Chandrakar

Dr Chandrakar is compassionate and caring She takes the time to talk to her patients and explain her assessment and treatment plan. Very personable and down to earth, but obviously extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. She sees you as a real person and treats you as such, not just a number.

Went for the first time and Dr V ordered WAY TOO MANY Tests. All she had to do was read my charts with Hermann Memorial, but NOPE. A $60 shot is all I needed. I now have bills of over $700. Horrible. The place is Packed beyond their office. All those tests done, and have never gotten a call from staff let me know what's up. They finally called to schedule another Shot. I told them to remove me from everything. No calls. No appointments. $$$$$ is all Dr V Is concerned about. This is the impression I received.

Dr. Chandrakar was cool to meet on our initial visit. When I was called to have a follow-up appointment I, it was a Friday late evening call while I was driving home and I could not agree to the day the receptionist was trying to have me come in but she continued being pushy saying I needed to go ahead and make the appointment because Dr. Chandrakar gets upset when they (the office) don't rebook patients. Anyway, I rescheduled for today @ 11:45. I drive up @ 11:44, get inside and I couldn't remember which floor the office was on so I look at the legend but still went to the wrong office (Texas Oncology on the 3rd floor). I decide to go back down to the legend to look again but also was googling them online. I see its actually on the 4th floor so I head back up on the elevator. Get inside, do the COVID prescreen then get to the window. It is 11:52, I see Dr. Chandrakar walk out I speak to her. She says"hi" and keeps going. The receptionist tells me Dr. Chandrakar is going to make her rounds and wasn't sure what time she would be back and asked if I could wait. I called back to see if she had make it back into the office and the receptionist gave 2 answers: 1. Yes, she's here 2. She's here but she's in a meeting. I explained who I was and she said "ok, well she's here come on back up". She then calls me back to say that I was VERY LATE for my appointment which was a COMPLETE LIE! I gave her the complete timeline of events, she then said "well Dr. Chandrakar is in a meeting and won't be done until 2pm". Oh to boot I go to the website to see that they DO OFFER TELEVISITS! The girl calling to rebook me told me they DID NOT USE A HEALTH PORTAL to give test results NOR DID THEY DO TELEVISITS. ALL LIARS! But you want my COPAY! This doctor takes low iron seriously. Having a doctor to treat this deficit in me has been a game changer. Friendly staff and overall great experience every time.

I've been under Dr. Chandrakar's care for many years now and look forward to my visits. She is a very personable and pleasant to have my office visits with. She is quite knowledgeable in the care that I am receiving and is very thorough in regards to my labs, and diagnosis progress. I'm grateful for her service and commitment to my continued health. Dr. Chandrakars's has also been very thorough regarding responding to the Covid issues with changes to how we enter the waiting room, how we are spaced out in the waiting room etc.

When I got diagnosed with colon cancer, I was referred to Dr Chandrakar and it was the best decision I made. I could have gone to a Cancer Center, but she answered all my concerns and I knew I would be in good hands. Her staff is amazing and very helpful and knowledgeable. My journey on chemo treatments is not over yet but the end is near - only 4 more sessions to go. My thanks to Teila, Vanessa, Flor and staff for getting me thru this. Thank you, Thank you. I was privileged to work with Dr. Chandrakar for several years in a hospital ICU so when I needed a hematologist/oncologist personally, she was the only one I considered. She and her staff are warm, personable and extremely knowledgeable. She'll be honest with you and walk every step of your journey along side you. If you're in need of your own personal dragon slayer - she's the best! I don't write many reviews, but it truly weighed on my heart to read a review that I know personally could not be further from the truth. I have been a patient of Dr. Chandrakar since 2005. Anyone reading this, that is in need of a specialty physician - hematologist, I hope this posting will helps give you a good idea of what to expect. Dr. Chandrakar is a lady of excellence, something is remarkably special about her, professionally and spiritually. Since being a patient of hers, she has always shown nothing but concern with the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of my illness. If you have any issue that you need a hematologist, I encouraged you to visit Dr. Chandrakar, talk with her, see for yourself, you will experience a strong, lasting, favorable professional. Dr. Chandrakar is amazing! A cancer diagnosis is devastating, but having Dr. Chandrakar fighting for my survival was assuring. I so appreciate her expertise, strength and directness. Dr. Chandrakar is one of the reasons I am still enjoying life. I respect her greatly, along with all of the Drs. on my team. I am blessed that she has crossed my path. I would highly recommend Dr. Chandrakar!

DO NOT use this doctor. She's careless and reckless. My wife is a patience of this woman for years. My wife has been complaining about chest pain and we found out recently (6/18/2018) that there’s a 37 mm tumor in her lungs. We question why Chandrakar didn’t detect this tumor when she ask my wife to take CT scan every time she makes an appointment with Chandrakar office. We found evidence documented of a tumor in 2/2018 by requesting a history of her medical record. My wife has been taking CT scan every month in 2018 to today, so why was Chandrakar not able to detect this. It was noted several times in the CT scan and why she didn’t tell us is the question. This woman will pay big for being reckless, careless.

She seems very knowledgeable however I have to make an appointment in order to get my results?! That's ludicrous. I understand you want your money but I already came there and you told me to get the imagining and blood work done which I did yet you refuse to give me my results over the phone. Went to see Dr. Chandrakar after we weren't getting clear answers from my boyfriends PCP! She cleared up and questions and doubts we had in regards to his health with some testing she ordered! She was very nice and professional, and answered all questions and concerns. We enjoyed her care, and recommend her ! If you or anyone else is having any questions or concerns in regards to health Dr. Chandrakar is the oncologist to see. Dr. Veena is great, she is taking care of my wife cancer, 100% satisfied.

It's clear Veena Chandrakar is only here for a pay check. The way she treats and talks to her patients is demeaning. She will not give you the time of day to explain your health and is in an out and if you choose to ask questions, she'll belittle you. If she wasn't the closest hematologist to me I'd find another. Fortunately, every experience I've encountered with Dr. Veena Chandrakar, in almost 9 years and counting, have had the pleasure of witnessing nothing but compassion. She shares a willingness to treat me not only like a patient, but a human being with emotions. I would NOT recommend this oncologist. She barely touches you during an exam - sometimes doesn't even take vitals!! She has NO bedside manner what so ever. I don't expect to be coddled but I do expect her to listen to my health concerns without blaming me with a sarcastic response. Her office staff are unprofessional and use profanity loud enough that the entire waiting room can hear them.
