Dr. Valerie Cynthia Altavas

This building is pretty outdated and seems very empty. The office is located on the second floor. The waiting room is pretty dim. The staff wasn’t really friendly. I would like to mention Georgia was nice while taking my information in the patient room. Might of been a off day for the rest of the staff. Greeting goes a long way for patients. Waited for a 15 minutes and met the doctor. Dr Altavas didn’t have any openings so I ended up with a different doctor. He was friendly, and kind. I originally came here for an issue I had started in January and I am now being seen in the tail end of February. So this was just a regular checkup at this point. I would say if you need a doctor right away with appointments available for things happening in the moment keep looking. At the end of the day they were not helpful when I needed them to be.

Dr. Altavas definitely cares, or at least she did with me. She sent me for routine screening that probably saved my life due to finding cancer. She followed all my care with specialists, and always followed up with me as to how things are going. I definitely recommend her. Very caring doctor.

Terrible doctor, thanks to her my father’s health declined significantly.

Worst experience I've ever had with a medical team/office. I kept getting the run around with the admins at the front. My first appointment was rescheduled literally the last minute. I was never seen by a doctor and after requesting a female doctor they scheduled me with a male doctor. For telehealth appointments I signed in 5 minutes before my appointment at 12pm like I was asked and at 12:15pm ended up leaving because I was kept in the waiting room with no word from anyone. I left multiple chat messages to let the doctor know I was waiting but was never seen???? I do NOT recommend this place. Worst experience I've ever had with a medical team/office. Dr. Altavas is very knowledgeable and friendly. In terms of skill, she is one of the best doctors at Paradise Valley Hospital. I'm hoping that her office will accept card payments soon. I was caught off guard by the cash only policy. I won't reduce my rating because of this - I don't know if she's the one who's in control of the payment system or someone else is making the cash only decision. Dr. Val Atavas is wonderful. She is compassionate, intelligent and professional. I had issues with my mother that involved elder financial abuse, hoarding, mental illness, dementia, and uncontrolled hypertension that led to a series of strokes. Dr. Altavas was able to adjust medications reducing the possibility of continued strokes, referred my mother for further studies with on of San Diego's best neurologist, Roberto Gratianne. I would refer both Dr. Altavas and Dr. Gratianne to everyone!

Dr. Altavas is the best doctor I ever had the pleasure to come in contact with. I owe my life to her. and I will be forever thankful for knowing her. She is dedicated to her profession and treats every patient like family.
