I used Dr. Avant as my primary care physician for several years. I had been a patient for about three years when I found out they wouldn't accept me as a walk in. I had developed a UTI over a weekend. I showed up at their office first thing Monday morning and was the first person in the door only to be told, in a very short and rude manner, that they didn't accept walk in patients. They told me to go to an ER. Really??? The reason I finally stopped going is because Dr. Avant discontinued doing lab work for my annual physical. My one annual freebie from the insurance company and no lab work? This kind of blew my mind. How can any physician possibly discern any patient's health condition with a 15 minute, how's it going?, kind of conversation? The staff is friendly for sure. Especially Linda at the front desk. A very kind and genuine person.

I’ve always received the best care possible great staff, and a friendly environment. Impatient people will always find something to complain about!

Dr. Avant is exceptional. He takes the time to get to know his patients. I have been a patient of Sr. Avants for several years and feel that he has given me straight forward medical advise. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Avant

Dr. Avant spends as much time as you need, answers all my questions. Leaves nothing to chance. His bedside manner is outstanding, friendly. Knowledgeable. I love coming to see him.

Get very tired of waiting approximately an hour past my appointment to see someone.

Rude, incompetent & unhelpful staff. The least productive clinic I've ever been to. Insane wait times only to have a very uninformative appointment. Hardly able to treat me, I have never left an appointment there without being referred to another doctor to actually be treated. Do not waste your time here.

Patient retention and patient experience is clearly NOT a priority. This front end staff is just awful. I've been going here for 15 yrs and cannot remember ever having a positive experience with their front staff. Looking over the negative reviews on google and on yelp for Hampden Medical Group, it is actually disheartening to see that many others have voiced the same complaint, yet absolutely nothing has changed with client experience. I expect that my doctor's office - which is a place I turn to at my most vulnerable, when I'm sick and need help- be a place where I feel cared for, listened to, understood, and important. Yet, this is literally the exact opposite of how the ladies at the front desk have made me feel. I can understand that sometimes people have bad days and have tried not to put too much emphasis on interactions with the staff up front, but with my recent experience, I will be finding another provider. Overall, I would say that I have had decent experiences with the physicians, so it is unfortunate that their efforts have been overshadowed by the lack of customer service and professionalism of the front desk. Dr Avant and the rest of the physicians have not made changes to the experience of their clients by addressing the front staff, which leads me to believe that they really do not care, hence the 1 star. This is the best medical group ever. Dr. Avant is the most personable and knowledgeable physician I've ever encountered. The support staff is excellent and I thank them all.

This is a very personable group with competent, committed medical professionals. Their handling of patients is quite efficient in a low stress atmosphere. It feels good to go there vs other offices where you are just another chart to finish. I have seen Dr. Leah Cooper for a few years now, including at another practice. She is very smart with excellent, time proven medical knowledge. I trust her judgement. Also, Lindsey, the PA is an outstanding young woman and very insightful. A+ for HMG. Doctor Avant was recommended to me and my husband by other satisfied family members and we've been seeing him for almost a year. He painstakingly will take the time to listen and answer your questions and is willing to work with you on your best plan of action. It doesn't matter if it's 7 am or 5 pm --you will never feel that he rushed through your visit. I know that we're all feeling our best with Dr. Avant's guidance.

Dr. Avant came and saw me in the hospital when I was initially diagnosed with MS. He was not aware that I had been a patient with his practice mostly because I had seen the nurse practitioners instead of him before. Since then he has been my partner in managing my health and anxiety. He listens to what I am saying or concerned about, and always looks at my file before walking in and helping me. I really have come to love Dr. Avant and his practice.

After trying to find a doctor in my new area my wife found this place. Doesn't look professional on the outside. But they have been very friendly to me and have always taken care of me. I recommend this place if you are looking for a new doctor. Very fast service in my opinion.

Dr Avant is a great Doctor. He's been my PCP for around 7 years. He's compassionate, listens and stays current with all the medical trends. His staff is wonderful too.

I don't know why the rating on Dr. Avant is not 100%, what's up with that 96%. Well I found that Dr. Avant takes his time, and for a fact cares about your needs. God Bless this man.

I waited a month for an initial checkup with Dr. Avant. I'm sure he's a great doctor (given the wait), but the staff is an absolute joke. After requesting an email or phone-call reminder, I received none. When I called to verify the woman said that I missed it by a day. The staff makes you feel at home and the doctors are the best.

He doesn't even bother to review the patient's chart before the appointment, so he has no idea what's going on. He then talks completely out of his hat, making untrue statements and drawing inaccurate conclusions.

Dr. Avant is a fabulous doctor. I have been going to him for 9 years now and every encounter has been good. He understands the kind of care I'm looking for. I am generally quite healthy, so when I have symptoms he listens to what I say, takes everything into account and has always come up with an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan that has lead to a positive outcome.

Dr, Avant is a very personable young man and is very knowledgeable. He likes camping with his kids so he can't be all bad. He has a great staff too. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him to others. Keep up the good work Doc!
