Even though we love Dr. Scott and would recommend him to anyone, this review is about his office supervisor Jessica. Today was a hectic day long story short I could not accompany my husband on his appointment. He is confined to a motorized wheelchair and has had severe nerve pain these last 3 weeks. It has made him afraid to eat and very week. He was so week today that he was having a hard time pushing elevator buttons after his appointment to make it to his access van. Access left without him... security was able to assist him outside and we called access again for a pickup. When a hour came an went and he didn't get home, I called my husband only to see that his phone was dead. I called access to see if he was on the bus.. found out that he was again not picked up because he was at a different location that wasn't disclosed to them... now worried I called Dr.Scotts's office made them aware of situation. Told them I called for another van and they should be on their way.. not only did Jessica go down to the street to find him, but she sat there waiting with him for over 1 hour on this rainy cold day until he was safely put back onto the shuttle to come home. I would love for her to be recognized for her care and compassion she has shown to my family. I am almost certain we are not the first she has helped in this way.. she deserves recognized by her employer, for such outstanding care.

Initially, I thought Dr. Scott was a Godsend. I was at my wits end with my symptoms and no closer to an answer and/or diagnosis; I just approached a month past my 40th birthday in February of 2018, my left side had gone completely numb and I was dragging my left leg behind me. By this time, I had already been to and discharged from the Emergency Department TWICE with no answers or resolutions. The third time the hospital wanted to transfer me out to a bigger Pittsburgh hospital (I was in Sewickley, Pa; a smaller suburb of Pittsburgh) but, Dr. Scott was on staff an insisted he’d take the case. I felt good that I had a confident, dedicated neurologist willing to put in the extra time and effort for me even though they had no idea at the time what, in fact, was wrong. Fast forward, a day and a half, many blood tests, several MRI’s, a Lumbar Puncture and I finally had a diagnosis; MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. That they were able to find at that time, I had three active lesions on my brain and one active lesion on my thoracic spine. I spent several days in the hospital with high doses of steroids and a number of physical therapy exercises, stretches, movements, etc. to try to gain my movements and mobility back. I was eventually discharged and an appointment to see Dr. Scott in his Pittsburgh office was set to start a therapeutic plan of action (i.e. medication, DMT, etc). Please keep in mind that until today 12/29/21, I’ve been under the care of Dr. Scott since March of 2018 and he’s been aware of all symptoms, worsening of symptoms, ailments, problems, reactions, adverse reactions, possible flares, requests for more MRI’s, requests for more testing, etc. and even has been asked/requested to change, stop or possibly consider different medications with absolutely no consideration, care or thought whatsoever. He has habitually, in that time, pushed me off onto his PA, Kara. In the the three years that I’ve been seen in the practice, I think I’ve physically have seen Scott maybe twice and all other visits whether it was a follow up or problem visit was to be coordinated through Kara. I expressed my concern and anxiety about this more than once as I didn’t feel not that she didn’t have the knowledge to handle my case but that is not who I agreed to handle my case. I was told Dr. Scott was the best, especially with Multiple Sclerosis. If you’re looking for the best, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you’re looking for textbook treatment, you found your place. No two people are the same. No two people’s MS presents, progresses or deteriorates the body in the same way. What works for “B” may not work for me. Since being in treatment with Dr. Scott, I have been on several DMT’s all of which I have reactions to. In addition, I’ve had reactions to some of the other nerve related medications like Gabapentin/Lyrica and gained an extreme amount of weight over a period of 3 months (in the beginning of treatment). Again, they were very reluctant to help me do anything to remedy anything about the weight gain and had no solution but to “work out more” which was getting more and more difficult because mobility from the weight gain was making it even more difficult. I ended up having to seek outside help through a weight doctor who immediately stopped the medication! On top of all that, this past year, I started having severe RLS, lower back pain, leg pain and my right leg, toes and fingers keep going numb. I think there may either be lesions in my lumbar spine, a pinched nerve and/or disc issues. I’m also having some bladder and bowel issues (And, Yes, Scott, has been aware and has done NOTHING!). I went to my PCP today who ordered a Lumbar MRI with and without Contrast~FYI~that’s what Scott should’ve done while he was busy taking all my upcoming appointments out of his schedule or better yet maybe taking the time to make a phone call to see why exactly he’s losing a patient and why exactly it is she is so “unhappy”?!?! Unless, in fact, you’re God or you have a God “complex” and don’t feel the need to be compelled to do so ????‍♀️. Initially, I thought Dr. Scott was a Godsend. Dr. Scott took my case from the ED department at Sewickley Hospital in March of 2019 after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I, until, the end of December of this past year, have been under his care. Since that time, I’ve been on a number of different MS DMT’s with little benefit and severe side effects in some cases. Other medications given to “manage” symptoms have also not been tolerated well and significant weight gain has been an ongoing problem to which his and his PA’s, Kara’s, continued response is to “work out more”. My mobility is continually getting worse. My symptoms are more frequent and in the last several months I’ve lost control of my bladder and bowels as well on occasion. I’m 42 years old. Again, they do NOTHING! Every single time I’m either directed to Scott’s PA, Kara, who does even less than Scott or finally able to see Scott who I feel Medically Gaslights me the entire visit. Not the way I choose to handle my chronic disease. I decided to go elsewhere.

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 12 years ago here in Erie Pennsylvania by Dr. Leonard Leone.. I have never seen any images of my MRIs, until I met Dr. Scott last week.. I have always questioned having MS, (since nothing has changed in 12 years) always wondering if it was something else I was suffering from.. When I would question Dr. Leone I was always shut down.. I give all the praise, and respect to Dr. Scott for his honesty showing me my images, and going over the last 12 years of my life with me to indeed find out I was misdiagnosed..???? I do NOT have MS, 12 years of daily injections that I did NOT need..?? He travels to Erie once a month to see patients at Saint Vincent Hospital it was by faith I made an appointment with him, he’s a genuine passionate man.. I’ve been dealing with an arrogant DO for 12 years, it’s refreshing having a MD that specializes in multiple sclerosis care for me as Dr. Scott does..

Great Doc, excellent experience in the crusade in finding medications to conquer multiple sclerosis. In spite of what appears to be apathy in his demeanor, that is his personality and he means no harm. I have known him over twenty years both professionally and as a patient. I would recommend him with high accolades.

Like other review he contradicted himself. Like 2 different doctors and was very cold and dismissive. Offered no insight on possible diagnosis. Also refuses to release testing he ordered

I have been a patient of Dr. Scott for 19 years and feel fortunate to have him in my corner. I have always been pleased with all of the staff at Allegheny Neurological Associates. Dr. Scott is thoughtful and always addresses my concerns with compassion and understanding.

Dr. Scott is the worst doctor we have seen at AGH. We have wasted two years in hopes that he could help my husband. Because we were told that he was the premier specialist for my husbands condition. He has hurt my family to the very core. He even left us sit in a exam room for over two hours because he was busy getting his picture taken. He gave my husband a solid diagnosis in August (the appointment he forgot about us), and three months later he contradicted himself on every point.
