This was possible because of the trust I have in Dr. Matelic. He is much appreciated for his expertise and caring personality.

He was easy to talk to, encouraging and has beautiful eyes... I mean makes great eye contact... ;)

Dr. Matelic was absolutely amazing. He was so nice and great at explaining what was going on and what my treatment was going to look like. It by far was a great experience and I am thankful for the experience.

Saw Dr. Matelic to discuss a shoulder replacement. Since he already replaced one for me with great success, I knew I wanted him to do the other one. He will answer any questions and is a good listener. His office periodically sends out questionaires to find out how things are going. I feel confident in his hands.

Doctor Matelic had done both of my Acls and I won’t ever go to another doctor! Truly the best, respectful, kind-hearted individual that cares about his patients.

Dr. Matelic is an excellent physican! He is thorough, caring and easy to talk with. He is recognized as one of the best surgeons because he is! I would recommend him without any reservations to anyone.

I injured my knee badly in a football game in 2020. June 14th will be my 4th knee surgery with Dr. Matelic and his staff since that injury. As a combat wounded vet I’m not a huge fan of doctors, but I would recommend Tom and his staff to anyone.

Dr. Matelic has performed total shoulder arthroplasty on both of my shoulders. My left shoulder arthroplasty was completed about 9 years ago and my right was completed in March, 2022. The pain in both of my shoulders has been eliminated. My second surgery was performed at the OAM Surgery Center. I highly recommend Dr. Matelic as a surgeon and the OAM Surgery Center.

I first saw Dr. Metalic twenty three years ago. No other doctors I saw were able to figure out what was wrong with my right shoulder. This went on for about a year and a half. Within minutes of my first appointment with Dr. Metalic he figured out the problem. He performed a capsular shift surgery and stabilized my shoulder. Awesome doctor! Recently I fell down some stairs and tore my rotator cuff. The only doctor I would consider seeing is Dr. Metalic. I saw him yesterday and my surgery is on his schedule today. Dr Matelic was great. I had a massive tear in my rotator cuff. Was very frank and professional on my probable outcome. Which turned out to be very positive. Highly recommend.

My knee surgery with Dr. Matelic went terrific. His staff is amazing, and since it starts at the top, Dr. Matelic is, as well. I felt in the best of hands and as if I were the only patient through the entire process. Although in awe of the seamless process, which was so well coordinated, I am really impressed with my incision. Not that I cared what it would look like, but huge wow to the perfection. My visit on Nov.., 22, 2021 was very pleasant. He showed me my M.R.I.., & continued to explain the issue with the right shoulder. On my last visit with Tim Hunter P.A.., he showed me how a reverse shoulder replacement is done, but Dr. Metallic still came in with the same equipment. ???????? He was very gentle with his examination & he proceeded to answers my questions very thoroughly & I didn't feel as though I was being rushed even though it ran into lunch hour. I felt very reassured & comfortable that the surgery is warranted & Dr.Metalic is the right surgeon -4- me. Please stay tuned -4- an update. Wish me good luck & the best -2- u. ???????? Professional, explained problem with knee and took time to answer questions in a manner that was understandable. Office easily accessible,appointment on time,staff great. Most pertinent are Dr.Metalic’s outstanding qualifications and years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon.Highly recommended.

Great empathy, expertise and clarity. Went over MRI in great detail. Superb bedside manner.

Dr Matelic was very professional and to the point. He explained what my condition was and the procedure to fix it. My only complaint was that I waited to long to be called into the office. My appointment was at 9:45 and I wasn’t called into the office until 10:10.

Dr. Matelic and his staff did a great job getting me back to where I needed to be in regards to my shoulder. Everyone was nice and explained what was going to happen and what to expect going forward. I would have given him 5 stars, but he was always late for every appointment by at least a half hr. Patients time is just as valuable as Dr's time. I feel I got excellent care through the surgery and rehab follow ups. Would recommend Dr. Matelic to anyone needing rotator cuff surgery. My visits with Dr. Matelic's office have been amazing. The staff is like none that I have ever been in contact with, in a professional setting. Upon meeting with Dr. Matelic, I truly believe it starts from the top down. All have been caring, informational and very competent. Those professional qualities aside, all very kind, as well. My experience has been a positive one, and correlates with the two recommendations I received to contact Dr. Matelic for my care.

Dr Matelic performed a complete shoulder replacement surgery for me, he and his team have been great to work with throughout the entire process. I have followed all PT as directed and now can literally move my arm and shoulder in ways I haven’t been able to do in 10 years. I highly recommend him to anyone that is having joint issues

I was looking for an Ortho who dealt with sports medicine and was good at knees. I asked around and checked OAM reviews. Narrowed down to Dr Matelic. Have seen other Drs in OAM before for other issues. Dr Matelic was ok but nothing special for me. He asked me questions to narrow symptoms. He went thru the basics of my knee condition. Overall, it was a bit robotic. I felt that he departed the room not showing desire to see me again. I was expecting him (or any physician) to show care and interest with patient but I did not sense that. Really makes me wonder if med school teaches them how to treat their patients.

I am 86. The original partial knee replacement opened the door to most of the activities I enjoyed in the past, hiking, kayaking and biking.

Due to a terrible fall on the ice in January I eventually "landed" in Dr. Matelic's office. He explained how my shoulder was too badly shattered to operate on and I would have a Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement. He has been professional, yet kind, and the best surgeon for this procedure. I was with my husband for an appointment to see Dr Matelic. Wait time was and is horrible. We stopped see the doctor because of this. Doctor is great but expectate a long wait.

Did my ACL surgery when I played college basketball. Without a doubt the best orthopedic surgeon. It’s like I never had surgery.

Dr. Matelic was very kind, professional and explained everything thoroughly to me. After asking me questions, he actively listened to my responses. He calmed my nerves about my injury and the next steps we will need to take. I was very impressed with him and his MA and they made the overall visit very pleasant.

I had rotator cuff surgery that turned from arthroscopic to open repair due to multiple tears being found. Surgery went well. I saw PA, Sarah who was wonderful, on initial and 2 week follow up. Dr Matelic has an awesome staff and team. At my 6 week appointment with Dr. Matelic was very informative and answered all my questions. I have no complaints. I am healing well.

I had a tare in my right rotator cuff that I decided to have surgery on in December 2020 after a year of physical therapy. It was the best choice I could have made. After only 4 months out I am pain free and almost at full use of my arm. The biggest challenge was not using my right arm for 6 weeks and trying to rush the process. However, that was a small price to pay to be where I am now. Thomas Matelic was very thorough in explaining the advantages of having the surgery and I would highly recommend him and the rest of the team that took care of me through this process.

Dr Matelic is meticulous in his work. I was taken to the ER after I missteped and fell on my left shoulder onto cement on Christmas Eve. He was on call & they decided to fix the dislocated shoulder right then and he would do surgery to repair the three fractures on January 4th. Everything was explained as we looked at the xrays together. I was very nervous when we arrived at the Mid Town clinic but the stress subsided as he had his staff get the prep underway, introducing themselves & reassuring me of a great outcome! GREAT was an understatement! I am less than 3 weeks out from surgery and it's hard to believe how far I am moving my arm! No question was left unanswered and for as serious as my injury was I feel I could not have had a more knowledgeable, caring and concerned doctor. I would certainly recommend Dr. Matelic to anyone needing a great orthopedic doctor.

I guess we are a shoulder injury family. Dr Metelic has repaired rotator cuffs for both me and my husband and my son had both repaired. We could not ask for a better Dr. He is very informative with a great bedside manor, and all repaired went as planned.

If I could leave a zero, I would. The worst experience I have ever had with a surgeon. Took my daughter in for a knee injury, after being referred. He was dismissive and physical hurt her, forcing an injured knee so that he heel touched the back of her thigh. She was saying "Ow" loudly past a twenty percent bend. This tough kid burst into tears. No explanation as to why, no apology, he HURT her. Find someone else.

This Dr. was supposed to be the best. After rescheduling me for a family emergency I expressed my sympathies for whatever it was that he had experienced. He was kind, proceeded to go over my MRI results and told me my medial meniscus was torn with degenerative arthritis, and the loose body was nothing, and that I had to choices: have the surgery to remove the meniscus and clean it all up in there but since there really wasn’t any cartilage left I would need a total knee replacement in 2-3 years and at 50 I was too young for that, and my other option was to get a cortisone shot and see if that would help. After I got the shot and left, I called back in and requested copies of my MRI and the findings. The results were very concerning to me as there were some additional and some other very serious problems going on with my knee. I called back after speaking to friend of mine who had bone on bone and had received Symvisc (chicken fat) injections for pain and spoke to Sydney, his assistant, and asked why he handn’t mentioned them and asked if I could get some of those injections to help. I told her I was it a lot more pain after the injection than before I came in. She responded which medicines I should take over the counter and that Priority Health informed them they would no longer cover the chicken fat injections but she would check into it. I meanwhile called Priority Health and told them I needed these injections and asked how I could get them approved, they gave me direction of what paperwork had to be filled out which I took that information back to Dr. Metalic’s office and spoke to Sydney, and she said she would follow the instructions and see if she could get that paperwork in and approved. The MRI report had way more findings than Dr. Metalic went over. I called back in and requested another appointment with Dr. Metalic because he not only did not go over everything in the MRI report to help me under thoroughly understand what was going on in my knee, he never helped me to understand how to go forward with what was happening to me and how to deal with it. He did not help me make any plans for my knee or the future of my knee. I was left feeling helpless. I was scared and didn’t know how to handle the severe pain that was still going on either. Sydney tried to explain everything away and I had told her I really wanted Dr. Metalic to sit with me to talk to me. I expressed how she made me feel like I wanted to cry and was not helping me. She finally made an appointment with Dr. Metalic for me, thankfully, but within 5 days a woman named Jennifer called from their office and told me Dr. Metalic would like me to find another Dr. because of how I spoke to Sydney, and they told me they cancelled my appointment. They abandoned my care all because I questioned the Dr., because I cared about myself and my future, and was proactive about wanting to know what the plan of action was for treating my knee so I could avoid becoming wheelchair bound and feared losing my mobility early in life as I run several companies and am very active and live in a 4 story home filled with tons of stairs. Scared with no answers, abandoned with no good reasoning - just a phone call, nothing else, they wanted to refer me to one of their other Dr.’s but I feared they would continue to do the same tactics. I am in severe pain and just made an appointment a month away with a Dr. in Dearborn across the state and have no one to help me. I am in severe pain daily and none of the meds including naproxin, ibuprofen, tylenol, nor ICE work for this pain going on. It’s excruciating and I do not know what to do and I am in fear of what to do to prepare for the future. Dr. Metalic and his assistant and office left me in a black hole and abandoned me. Explained what the MRI showed us. Prescribed a “boot”. Explained the possibility of surgery, what would be done and the length of healing time.

I saw Dr. Matelic for a knee that’s getting worse and he talked to me about all of the options in a manner that was easy to understand. He did a partial knee replacement on my other knee a few years ago and it’s great now.

Dr Matelic is an excellent doctor. He has an answer for you. He gave more advice on therapy than the therapist I went to. My husband also had him for shoulder surgery. I would definitely recommend him.

You have to consider that this time of year is extremely busy for physicians and their staff due to post op visits. This is due to many patients getting procedures done at year end to maximize their insurance benefits and minimize out of pocket expenses. An area where our current health system is flawed.

Dr. Matelic is a compassionate, intelligent and caring Healthcare professional. All members of his staff show great concern for your health needs and give you their complete attention. They are upbeat and happy to communicate with you. It is Wonderful that we have Dr. Matelic in our community!

Dr Matelic spent quite a bit of time with me. He was concerned and kind. Even a sense of humor.

Dr. Matelic is a great surgeon but a terrible office manager. On two of my follow-up visits he kept me waiting over an hour. He was a minimum of 30 minutes late every time. Schedule your follow-up visits with his PA's.

Dr Matelic is thorough, thoughtful, and considers surgery a last resort. He is skilled, caring and considerate. When my ankle didn't heal as hoped the recommended surgery was performed with plates screws and bone and now I'm 100%! Thankyou!
