About Thomas Giancarlo
Reviews for Thomas Giancarlo
Dr. Giancarlo is intelligent, a good listener, and makes his decisions on further testing and treatment with patient input. This is a desirable environment that I find comfortable in and it helps me understand my chronic illness(es) and what I can do to help myself better. He is a partner with me in helping improve my neuro-health.
Zero stars is all Dr Giancarlo deserves. He thinks he is above all and likes to cut his patients off when in mid conversation - and that's just the least of the issues he has. He has awful bedside manner and the only reason I'm going to remain a patient of his is because I have every right to advocate for myself as a patient. He will no longer treat me this way and I'm gonna make sure of it. Zero stars is all Dr Giancarlo deserves. Friendly staff, quick and courteous
Dr. Giancarlo is a very good doctor and takes time with me.
Terrible bedside manner. Very dismissive. My ENT sent me to him for his opinion on my headaches and dizziness, and he acted as if he couldn't be bothered. Called me in on a certain day and time to discuss the results of some tests, and then completely blew me off, telling me to come back another day. Maybe he's good at what he does, but that doesn't give him the right to be so abrasive. Terrible bedside manner. Very dismissive. Very personable, easy to talk to and Dr. Giancarlo does not make you feel that the reason you came to see him was unimportant. Explains the reason and need for particular tests to be done, and then thoroughly explains the tests results. Takes time to explain the results so the unmedically knowledgeable person will understand. Did not rush the appointments so that makes the patient feel more comfortable and more relaxed to asked questions. My husband was with me, in the exam room, and told me later how impressed he was with Dr. Giancarlo. I would highly recommend Dr. Giancarlo to any person searching for a neurologist. Thank you.

First doctors visit I waited a long time I had already made up in my mind I wasn’t coming back but before I left the staff informed me that I need to make a morning appointment so that’s what I did and that was about a year and a half ago I been loving everyone here I wouldn’t change a thing about them oh I think they need some new waiting room chairs just being honest and there not all wore out they just have a lot of hair on them but please give them a try I promise you will love everyone that works here kind, gentle, well spoken and all of the 5 star reward.THANK YOU MICHIGAN NEUROLOGY ASSOCIATES AND STAFF
When I 1st went to Michigan Neurology Associates (MNA), I saw Dr. Giancarlo once or twice, had a few tests, and was prescribed a med and had another adjusted. He never took time to fully explain my diagnosis, how it may progress, and what to expect. For the next few years, I went to MNA, saw either a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant, and got refills, always after long waits, even at checkout. When I got worse, I got appts with Dr. Giancarlo many times, but then always saw a PA or NP instead. They did adjust meds, but I couldn't see him. It seemed the office wanted to get more people through so they could bill rather than address people's concerns. There was one NP that finally took time with me and had me feeling better, but she soon left. I finally met with Dr. Giancarlo once after many years, but only for a few minutes and could not ask the questions I wanted to. I finally found a new doctor. Everyone sent him my records except MNA. Took 2 years to get MNA to send them.
Made no effort to help my mother whatsoever. Sent his assistant in to ask for info we already gave multiple times, then acted annoyed to speak with us even though he was 20 min late for appt...forgot to send forms for testing and failed to even note a patients chart. Rude and arrogant...needs to retire.

Very nice and attentive to my concerns. We had a great discussions. Both Bethany and DR Giancarlo have resolved serveral issues from a failed back surgery. Pain was horrible but now it's very tolerable. I'm confident our future doctor patient decisions will result in positive results. Thank you both, Very nice and attentive to my concerns. I very much appreciate everything that Dr. Giancarlo and the staff doing for my health.Dr. Giancarlo is a great doctor, explain my condition as well my treatment options. The staff is professional and friendly. I recommend to anyone looking for neurologist.
I want to thank Dr Giancarlo for his caring professionalism. He was the first neurologist who cared enough to help understand the root cause of my medical problem. I truly appreciate that he worked hard to help identify the problem and provide a path forward. He said ?we have homework to do?. I also appreciate his open and honest communication. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Dr G, if you read this.....thank you.
He is very condescending. Took out his prescription pad and told me that he’s the doctor. He refused to allow my input in my own medical treatment. I have painful neuropathy and treated me like a drug addict because I need medication to relieve my pain. I wouldn’t recommend him to an ant.

FANTASTIC DOCTORS! Everyone is very helpful and considerate. Dr. G always makes sure he gets to the root cause of the problem! Not just treating symptoms.
Dr. Giancarlo & the staff in the surgery center were great! I felt very comfortable and at ease during my nerve block❤
I’d give zero stars, but it doesn’t allow. Dr. Giancarlo should hang up his jacket. My mother was referred to him by her primary for memory loss. At her appointment the end of 2019, he walked in and addressed her as a “very sick woman” and went on as the nurse tried interjecting that he had the wrong chart and was in the wrong room. Even if he was in the correct room, IS THAT HOW YOU ADDRESS A PATIENT?! He then got the correct chart & told my mother that she had been there a year prior and she said she didn’t recall. His response, “What, do you live in a black hole?” Real class act. Needless to say she didn’t have any further appointments with him. Not sure how much people were influenced into giving positive reviews on here, because any other site he has horrible reviews, with mention of the terrible treatment, bedside manner, patients being in tears. We have filed a complaint with Beaumont Hospitals.
He is well educated in his field of Neurology.
Dismissive with disdain for previous documentation, test results and diagnosis. Let’s whatever is irritating him creep into his time with you. Gave him the benefit of the doubt since I was desperately seeking an answer to suffering with life altering neuro problems due to bacterial infection missed by previous doctors. Put me through months of testing that left me in worse condition than I arrived with then told me I was ‘making it up’. I am amazed that he is still holding a functioning Med practice. Disheartening to say the least.
Not bad, needs to get everyone on the same page about policies.

Love Dr. Giancarlo! He is friendly and comfortable to be around!
The staff and doctors are very helpful and they listen and explain, and set treatment plan up together with your pcp
Love him and the staff so far have had a great experience for the past 3or 4nmos. No problems. Thanks Dr.Giancarlo and Staff
He seemed very concerned about my health & well being. And the only doctor that genuinely tried to help me get rid of my migraines.
Everyone was very kind and professional. They took very good care of my brother Francis Farina and made him feel safe and comfortable.I've been dealing with alot of medical offices and this rates number one.Great staff!
Outstanding patient care! As a physician he was the only doctor to answer my many questions about my health issues. The staff most notably the PA's and clinical team are professional yet personable.
I cannot express enough how well Dr. Giancarlo cares for his patients. I was involved in a car accident over 20 years ago, hit by a drunk driver. Over the years the injuries flare up bad, my neck especially. I called and was able to see him within 30 minutes and was taken care of immediately. I highly recommend him, as well as the other doctors there. I cannot express enough how well Dr. Giancarlo cares for his patients. I have been going to him for 9 years. Since I been going many of my diagnosis have been found by him. Things was wrong and other doctors kept telling me something else. He truly gets to the bottom of your problem no matter how long.
I have been with Michigan Neurology for many years and I always had a good experience. The physicians are awesome. They are very thorough and go above and beyond in making sure I am satisfied with my care & treatment.

This doctor LOVES to run several VERY expensive tests but by his own admission is only able to diagnose patient neurological conditions 40% of the time. Sorry, not good enough! ! Also VERY arrogant and does not seriously consider patient input in diagnosis.

I was in pain and waited three weeks for an apt with dr Giancarlo, who I thought was an experienced neurologist. When I arrived I was tol my apt was given to his nurse practitioner who is not a doctor and has no specialty in neurology whatsoever. The doctorj was nowhere to be found and I never even received a phone call . Other patients in the waiting area complained of the same issues ., and on more than one occasion. I paid the same amt as if I would have seen the dr. Crooked business

Dr Giancarlo and his staff are the best. They listen they address your concern and they truly care. They are passionate and they have always treated me and my family with respect. I was a patient of his for over 14 years and I truly miss the care they give. He has also helped my special needs son. You won't go wrong with the family of doctors he I recommend them and trust them all.

Was fast and easy. Thank you for making me comfortable.
He is a textbook book of knowledge and does not look at a BlackBerry to tell me what is wrong with me.

I have seen 7 neurologists over the years, and Dr. Giancarlo is very knowledgeable and I like him. However, when I checked out after the first appointment, I was told I never see the doctor again and only see the NPs or PAs. I was disappointed. They also won't give results of bloodwork over the phone. I had to drive in for an appointment to be told my bloodwork was fine. I had 2 more appointments to give the NPs a chance, and I was following up on some medication prescribed, but had other questions regarding my health that I just didn't feel comfortable discussing with the NPs, and one I couldn't understand because she was foreign. The office has 3 locations, is large, and impossible to get anything done or answered by phone. They wanted me to start a prescription that needed insurance authorization. It took several phone calls and 3 months before it was dealt with. Furthermore, staff called me to change my appointment time and they stated I would be seeing the doctor. When I arrived, I did not see the doctor. Although I believe Dr Giancarlo could help my health improve, his large staff and current policies of how their office is managed is not for me. I will be going somewhere else. I have seen 7 neurologists over the years, and Dr. Giancarlo is very knowledgeable and I like him. Doctor was nice but I had to keep suggesting various tests because he didn't know what to do next. After 10 months and a multitude of tests, he still had no clue what to do next or a treatment plan. Don't waste you time. Policy is to have you see a PA instead of a real doctor and it is very difficult to actually talk with Dr. Giancarlo rather than a PA.
Terrible bed side manner. Condescending and has no empathy. I brought in my medical history, and he seemed annoyed that he had to look through it. Kept asking me what I thought about the test results, like I'm the doctor. Treated me like an idiot and made me cry. He ended the appointment by telling me that my life long illness will be a "nuisance". My daily life is not a nuisance. It's unbearable, which is why I was there. I will not see him ever again.

I was not pleased with Dr.Giancarlo! The wait was horrible over one hour! Dr. Seemed to too busy for me, He kept reprimanding his Staff! Went to see him for a follow up for a stroke, he said I would be fine, come back in 6 mos. Not a good choice for a Neurologist! Not going back.

I've always had a great experience working with the Dr Giancarlo and his staff. Wait time can usually be a little tricky, but never too horrible. He's thorough with explaining the procedures simply and concerned about the patients overall well-being. His bedside manner is dry-ish, but he's got a good heart. He's helped me a great deal in finding a fix for my occipital neuropathy and isn't just going to throw meds at a problem to get you out of the office.
Avery thing was Dione right am happy🤪
Love the staff and appreciate all the help with my dad
