My husband did not see Dr. Bernasek. Only saw the fellow because he said they were busy and behind. The fellow was very good but disappointed that we did see Dr. Bernasek.

Such a prince of a man! Not only a wonderful doctor, but an absolute gentleman. So fortunate we have him. Totally trust his direction! Amazing!

Dr. Bernasek is personable, patient, and darn experienced. He is AMAZING.

Dr. Bernasek was attentive and very thorough! So so happy with my decision to bring my grandmother here!

As always I am fully confident in Dr. Bernasek's knowledge, expertise, and judgment. I was seen two hours after the scheduled time. I realize he is giving the same careful attention to others that I have come to expect. But I would much prefer to arrive at the actual time of my appointment so as not to be held captive.

Other than a long wait, Dr Bernasek explains in details what the problem is and how it can be corrected.

I think this doctor is wonderful. However, yesterday, June 1st., he was grossly overbooked. I wanted to speak with him, about alternative therapy, but knew I wouldn’t be able to have a thorough conversation with him. I LEFT!! Waited 45 minutes, and was told I’d have at least another 45-30 minute wait. This has happened with several times, with other Dr.s at Florida Othopedics???? I think this doctor is wonderful. Excellent Dr., caring and supported for many years

Terrific. Rare combo of great doctor and great human. My wife is going to have him do her hips so that's a pretty strong referal.

WORST DOCTOR EVER! I was left in surgical pain after Dr. Bernasek performed surgery on me. Left in surgical pain the whole time. This happened after a total hip replacement and a “wash-out”. I begged them for another surgeon and the only thing the fellows would tell me is that I was stuck with this guy. Stuck. Then they left me with no surgeon after I got upset at a nurse on the phone where I should have been yelling at him, but I never could see the guy. So I was left with no surgeon. No surgeon in the middle of a nasty hip infection where he removed my hip. This was almost 2 years ago and I’m still upset and in therapy about it. So upset I actually wrote a narrative review medical journal entry and it got published. Never walked again after knee replacement surgery from Dr Bernasek. The tibia implant never adhered to the cement. Argued endlessly with him, he wouldn't accept his mistake. Dr Bernasek placed me in extensive rehabilitation advancing the pain and damage to leg. I walked into the surgery, and in a wheelchair for the remainder of my life. Pain management monthly. We discussed amputation, but concensus is phantom pain. I've tried everything pain mgt offers, next is a pain pump. The operation literally ruined my life physically & financially. I would give this facility a 5 star if they wouldn’t overbook client appointments… 2 hr wait time is excessive, even for the most prolific medical staff. Patients were quite frustrated.

Dr. Bernasek performed a right hip replacement on me three weeks ago. He is a top notch orthopaedic surgeon and very compassionate and kind. I've received the best possible care from Dr. Bernasek, his staff and the staff at Tampa General Hospital I could expect. I couldn't walk or get off the couch before surgery and now I'm able to walk with a walker and get off the couch by myself. Now I'm able to sleep through the night without hip pain. I'm so thankful for Dr. Bernasek!

Kind, courteous doctor with excellent surgical skills and great support staff. Every thing runs like a well oiled machine. Has long wait time but so worth it

Dr Bernasek did a total right knee replacement on me last year 2019. Worst mistake I ever made!!!! He first told my daughter he did not realize how bad my knee was until he got inside. To make a long story short, after rocking back and forth feeling uneven, I went to my Podiatrist who ordered an MRI and discovered my right leg was longer than the left. I went back to Dr Bernasek only for him to tell me he had to make my leg longer so that it could hold me up properly, and also he had to place the knee where nature dictated. Now fast forward to today after seeing another Orthopedic doctor, I find my knee was “overstuffed” by Dr Bernasek!!! Each time I went into Dr Bernasek office to complain he only gaslighted me. I am very disappointed with him and the surgery. I will never ever return to his practice again. I once stated to his entire office staff up front, that he could not possibly give his patients quality care because he has to many patients on any given day Dr Bernasek did a total right knee replacement on me last year 2019. Dr. Bernasek is an incredibly skilled surgeon to the point that all the pre-op nurses refer to him as a "Rock Star." Dr. Bernasek performed TKR on both knees and was always caring, personable, and empathic towards me, my wife, and my needs. Dr. Bernasek was a true blessing for me!

Great Orthopedic Surgeon in Florida! He did Bilateral knee surgery of my wife 7 years back (2013) She is doing Excellent Thanks. Strongly Recommend Dr Bernasek for knee replacement .

Dr. Bernasek has replaced both of my knees and one hip, I trust him totally. All surgeries went very well. I would recommend him to all patients needing knee or hip replacement.

Dr. Bernasek replace my right knee a year and a half ago and the other one year ago. I am 74 yrs old (and by no means "superman"!) and had suffered with my knees for years! Couldn't stand for more than 20 minutes and after walking about a block could hardly walk. Thank goodness for "grocery carts" cause I'd have to lean on them at the store. I now walk at least 2 miles every morning and have NO pain. I was very diligent with the exercises and therapy. Dr. Bernasek is an excellent orthopedic surgeon with a very capable staff and assistants. I highly recommend him. Had appt. yesterday and won't have to go back for 4 years.

2015 I had right knee replacement with Dr Bernasek. I had no problem whatsoever..then in 2017 I moved to Pennsylvania there I had left knee replacement with Dr bear at Hershey medical cntr I been having problems with my left knee ever since.. Then I moved back home 2018 I visit a orthopedic in Dade city where he took xray & discover that the left knee replacement hardware is to big. So that's been causing pain..i can say that Dr bernasek is a great orthopedic surgeon,, unfortunately the office don't take my new insurance, I'm sure if I was able to go see him, he would probably repair the damaged,done by,surgeon in Pennsylvania..

Dr Bernasek replaced my knee in 2010. The tibia fibula inplant never adhered to the cement. I was forced to go out of state for a revision. He basically said sorry, nothing he could do. I've had 2 revisions since and can't walk w/o severe pain. Almost 10 years later and two more knee replacements since I walked into see Dr Bernasek and never walked again. The result of that loose implant that his obstinate attitude landed me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Things go good, he's a great guy, a failed medical procedure he's absolutely horrible. Cost me countless dollars and in a handicapped conversion van now. He actually said " I don't mind seeing you in my office, but never want to see that knee again". Yes, I reported him to the board of health for negligence and abandonment. They investigated, it was obviously warranted. He blacklisted me from seeing any doctor at Florida Orthopedic again. Speaks volumes for him and the culture there. Just hope nothing goes wrong. Heard he's not operating anymore. That operation literally ruined my life. Nice Guy, you decide. When I came to see Dr. Bernasek around 4 years ago I had been through with my knees. They had needed to be replaced for approximately 20 years, but because of my age all of the surgeons said I was too young. Instead I was getting injections, pain meds and surgeries that would "buy me time" until I was old enough. Between both knees that was 13 surgeries. Dr. Bernasek instead looked at the quality of my life. I couldnt walk long distances, I had almost been severly injured several times by the knees giving out, etc. After he replaced both knees, and I was diligent in my physical therapy, I can say that he gave me back my life. Dr Bernasek replaced my right hip 16 years ago! He changed my life of limping for 18 months! I was 55 at that time! He is the most compassionate doctor I have ever been too! I respect him and recommend him to anyone needing a new hip! I have retired across country, but would travel to see him if ever I need another hip!

Fantastic 5 star rating., Dr Bernasek replaced my knee 18 mo. ago, its better than ever. Keep in mind; do your rehab.

Dual knee replacement at 45 YO and can’t be more pleased!! I’d recommend Dr. Bernasek to anyone! He, his PAs, the FL Ortho Institution and TGH are the best! Wish I could give more stars! If thinking about Sarasota Ortho Institute TRUST ME Dr. Bernsek is worth the drive to Temple Terrace.

I had bilateral knee replacement 2 years ago. Dr Bernasek and his staff were amazing and very informative. I had an excellent outcome and am so grateful I found this doctor. I live in Punta Gorda but this doctor is worth the drive. The first visit I waited an hour but subsequent visits were less than 15 minutes.

All I can say is that it was amazing very little pain and I’m walking 1 million times better so he replaced my hip three years ago

Dr. Bernasek takes time to listen and understands my issues, which are somewhat complex. And Jessica Ruth , his assistant is outstanding at providing customer service. Would recommend highly.

On Feb 19, 2019 Dr Bernasek performed my right hip replacement surgery. He is a brilliant surgeon, with a charming, caring personality. I followed his post surgery instructions to the letter, and am now completely pain free with total mobility!!!!! I am deeply appreciative of his services and the services of his team. All have been very professional and compassionate. I couldn’t want a better surgical outcome. Treatment at Tampa General was awesome too. I am truly thankful for my surgical and follow up care!!!! I hope I will not need any additional orthopedic surgery, but if I do, I will be scheduling a consultation with Dr Bernasek!! Thank you Dr Bernasek!!!! I am pain free and am enjoying life again!!! Thank you!!!!

Dr. Thomas Bernasek sees each patient as an individual case. There is no one fits all approach in his practice. He believes in starting at the first level of treatment and then when that does not bring results, he is eager to go further in order to solve the problem. He also is very considerate of a patient's wait time to see him. Dr. Bernasek was very apologetic regarding the delay time of my appointment . He saw my time as valuable as his. He is truly a professional physician. I highly recommend him for his professionalism and his abilities as a doctor.

founding out why my left hip is still hurting after replacing when I arrived the staff was very kind and caring and very patience when my questions a nurse named pooga was most helpful and was concerned about helping with my issues also a nurse Jessica Ruth was noticing I was having trouble with remembering my apt scheduled which she took time from her busy work and wrote done my tasks that should done first to last. man I was so appreciated by her caringness it was so helpful then Dr Ibrahim was so concern with my issues that in my belief he ask me real world questions and gave me very helpful answers man these employees are a asset to there profession I would recommend hands down to anyone having problems like mine to contact these professionals and schedule a apt ASAP they will not be disappointed again it was a pleasure to have all these skilled medical personal with a caring concern helping me out thank you dr bernasek your staff is second to none

I can not say enough positive things about Dr Bernasek. He replaced my hip, and everything went great. His bedside manner is just wonderful, his PA’s are great too. It can be hard to get an appointment as he is so well known. If your are lucky enough to get in (like I was), do be prepared for a bit of a wait to see him. It’s the only downside, however he is worth the wait.

Dr Bernasek is a wonderful surgeon and has a great bedside manner. However, his office is so poorly managed that it is not uncommon to wait 2 to 3 hours after a scheduled appointment time to see him.

In 1987 I was on a business trip in a Tampa and was hit by a car. I was rushed to Tampa General where Dr Bernasek preformed a complete knee reconstruction and repaired my tibia fracture with external fixation. Thirty years later I am now a resident of Florida and my legs are strong and healthy.. Thank you Dr Bernasek

Thanks to Dr. Bernasek my leg feels better now than it has in years. I was sent to Dr. Bernasek by another orthopedic physician. I was dealing with a 2nd infection after knee replacement surgery. He knew what to do to help me and did just that. He has a wonderful bedside manner and makes sure you understand everything. The only downside is you wait forever to see him. I have waited in his office 2 1/2 hours past my appointment time, but I trust him more than any other ortho doctor.
